The contact owns a graco child seat, model 8439san (na).the seat was manufactured on may 30, 2003.the contact stated that the retainer positioning clip on the front portion of the harness slides up and down.as a consequence, the child is able to manipulate the retainer clip in a position that would allow the child to move his or her arms or exit the seat.this increases the risk of serious injury if not positioned properly in the child safety seat.the child is two and a half years old and weighs approximately 20 lbs.the manufacturer did not assist, but stated that all of their seats are produced with the same structure.the contact still has possession of the safety seat.the purchase date and failure type were unknown.
Graco model # 845dvb, dom 06-26-2001; metal clip that adjusts harness tension broke.as a result harness does not tighten around child.consumer has had css for only 2 months.
