Graco smartseat all in one convertible. This car seat was installed correctly and used for my child as forward facing when the baby was 18 months and weighed enough to forward face. It was in use for just over one week! i went to remove my child from the seat once arriving at our destination and was able to loosen the belts and free the top snap at baby's chest. I then went to press the crotch buckle release and when i did it would not depress and the tongues holding in the top straps to the 5pt meeting at the buckle would not come free. I tried repeatedly to depress the buckle so that the tongue straps would release. My spouse tried as well as my father. We could not free my child. Since my child is only 22lbs we did manage to pull the baby from the seat with the crotch buckle still secured. It did require two people to contort the baby free from the car seat. We assumed we would be able to press the buckle in and release it when we were to head home. Again, we could not free the buckle and the baby was contorted back into the car seat (only one person needed to do this) in order to get home. Once home it was required for two people to contort baby free again. We tried the buckle the next day with more family trying it to.my issue comes with a seat that is to protect my child and would have done that is still a concern because had we been in an accident, a fire or an emergency where i did not have a second person to help free baby or i needed baby out of seat immediately, it would have been to late. Baby would have been stuck. =( graco will not say if this has been an issue for the smart seat all in on. I will say they have been exceptional in replacing the seat but that i still have an elevated concern of what if the buckle(it's a new design than prior model) is defective and we experience this again. I will be carrying huge scissors in my car in the event i have to cut the belts should it happen again. Graco is stilla great brand.

The contact owns a graco rear facing child seat, model number: 1778253. The child seat was being utilized in a 1997 honda cr-v. The contact stated that while traveling, the child was able to tear a piece of the stuffing on the arm rest of the child seat and place it in their mouth . As a result, the child began choking on the stuffing. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure and the child seat was not replaced.

1 and a half year old child is able to easily unbuckle the chest latch, the material used is too soft (thereby easily pliable by young children).
