Picked up car seat and handle did not lock correctly and handle went forward and baby flipped out the back onto face.

The contact owns a 2002 evenflo discovery rearfacing infant seat, model 220.while driving 35 mph, the contact's child began screaming because she was being choked by the child seat.the contact pulled the vehicle over and unbuckled the straps to release the child from the seat.the child sustained marks around her neck.the contact feels that the child safety seat is unsafe and should never be used.the purchase date and failure type were unknown.(related vehicle information: model year=1996, make=ford, model=windstar)

When putting the child restraint back together after washing, the adjuster popped open and a spring popped out, making the child restraint impossible to use.

My agency operates 7d vehicles that transport young children.the seats in which we must place rear-facing infant car seats do not allow us to properly secure the car seat.there is one tether installed on the back of the seat and 2 installed where the cushions meet.the strap that is supposed to clip to the tether on the back of the seat is too short for rear facing car seats.the car seat can be secured using the side tethers, but the inability to secure to the rear tether results in the car seat moving forward & backward.if there were a front-on collision, the infant's head would thrust forward.i am not sure if this is a problem with the vehicle design or the car seat.(related vehicle information: model year=2008, make=ford, model=econovan e150).

While driving one day my daughters car seat actually just tipped over while making a left hand turn. The base was in the correct place and we were not speeding so that couldn't not have made a difference. Luckily my daughter was not injured and we did not get into an accident while i was holding her up while driving to the side of the road.

I heard on the cbs morning news that there was a recall for the infant evenflo discovery car seat, that it failed front and side crashes.i called the evenflo 18002335921 at 9 am this morning fri jan 5 2007 and spoke to a amy and she said the news was mistaken and that all of evenflos products meet and exceed federal standards and said that they are not recalled.i want the truth and my child to be safe, i have the right to know , please let me know the truth, my infant seat was made on aug 14 2006 and the number is 3911672 l1. Is there a way i can get a replacement seat that does meet standards? i no longer have my receipt or box and kmart will not complete a recall if evenflo has not recalled it and i just fell real upset that people are not on the same page here.

Hi my name is [xxx], i have a registered evenflo discovery/ nurture infant car seat. This car seat has the safety latch that latches to the newer model vehicles and then the base. Then the carseat latches to the base. The carseat base and all then moves from side to side a great amount of distance and i also had an officer check it out and he said it is a default from the manufacture and i could be fined. I would like a refund please or at the least a new workable safe none moving carseat. I appreciate evenflo most everything with my babies but this carseat is a fluke and thank you.(related vehicle information: model year=2013, make=kia, model=soul)information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Car seat being used as instructed for my 3 month old, allows her to be tossed up and down when stopping short in my vehicle.even with straps tight.the car seat and base does not move, however my daughter has the ability to slide up and down due to the where the belt buckle is located in the car seat.she had hit her head with no major injuries due to the problem.we attempted to return the product to target, however they refused to help us.we bought a new car seat/stroller combo.i suggest anyone else with this car seat does the same.

Well, i don't know if it's the car seator the car modelbut when i install the base of the car seat on the car i tighten it as much as i can and the car seat snaps firm on it but the base is not firm on the car and one time the whole thing flipped over when i made a slow turn.(related vehicle information: model year=1998, make=ford, model=mustang).

The seat does not fit properly in the vehicle, you have to prop it up on the back of the seat, so the baby is sitting correctly, then it will continue to slide down then the babies head will fall forward. It also does not have the 5 point harness.

I can not install this seat without it moving more then one inch.i have tried all the cars and seat positions available, but in each one i can move this infant seat side to side up to 9.5 inches.i tried installing the locking clip, but the instructions were poor and seemed impossible.the manual stated that if this car seat moves more then one inch, you need to either try to tighten the strap again or move the car seat to a different location.i have tried all of that, but it failed.a lot of people install it tightly and try moving it side to side once, and it doesn't move.but when you keep wiggling and wiggling the car seat, it can become loose and move side to side freely because there is no way to lock off the seat belt unless using a locking clip.i spent 20 minutes trying to use the locking clip, but it really seemed impossible to do with the instructions included in the manual.

I was just curious of why the forward facing toddler car seats have a tether to anchor the back of the car seat from falling forwards in a crash but the rear facing infant car seats do not have a tether from the head of the car seat to the floor in a vehicle to stop the car seat from bouncing in a crash. This to me seems just as dangerous as the toddler car seat without a tether.the infant car seats do not have a snug fit no matter how tight you install them or in what vehicle.i had to add straps to my infant carseat base to make it fit without moving more than the recommended one inch. Why is this tether not standard for the rear facing infant car seats?(related vehicle information: model year=2007, make=hyundai , model=entourage).

On this incident the base of evenflo discovery infant car seat would keep moving back and fourth and sliding while in the car. No matter what i did it keeps doing it off & on. I purchased an evenflo discovery car seat and used it for two-three months before i detected a problem.shortly after the canopy began to fall forward and backward.i called the company and was given replacement parts, these did not work.i was then issued a new product.which worked fine for two-three months.the canopy falls backward preventing the seat from locking in the base.also when driving my son can pull the canopy forward and it presents a suffocation hazard to him.i was told to just remove the canopy from the car seat by evenflo, which i feel is still dangerous to my son's eyes.

I know that the evenflo infant car seat discovery should be recalled. I have been using mine now for seven months and the plastic that it is made of is weak and bending. The side parts where the buckle going through, when not using the base, are bending. The plastic is too weak, making it unsafe to buckle my baby into the car without the base because the seat belt slips off. This is a hazard and i now can't take my infant car seat anywhere without the base very unsafe!

Parents came to seat check at fmh wellness center, 5500 buckeystown pike, frederick md 21703, to have crs turned ff due to both to both parents not being able to ride safely in the vehicle with child.updated 02-13-2013 when the representative attempted to install the car seat, using the tether, the tether buckle was too wide to slip through the anchor bar at the back of the vehicle's seat. It had to go over the bar first and then route to the center.

Evenflo model # 3252245p1, when adjusting the child seats harness straps they slide out without warning. As a result the child is not restrained properly.

Instructions on seat label and in instruction booklet regarding installation of car seat base with a lap/shoulder belt show two different positions for the shoulder belt.on the seat label it appears both belts are going through belt path, in the instructions and on the evenflo website the shoulder portion of the belt is shown not going through the belt path routed against the vehicle seat back.

As discharge coordinator of a newborn icu ( and previous nhtsa child passenger safety tech)at university of virginia children's hospital, i was helping a family with a new car seat. The family was spanish speaking only and the instruction pamphlet for the car seat was written only in english with wording on the front "for instructions in spanish to call 800...). The child was being discharged and the family was using the seat for the first time. Unfortunately like many first time parents they had not looked at the seat well until today.
