My child's carseat flips over while she's in it.

I purchased an evenflo embrace car seat about 6 months ago at my local target store. Since then the seat cover has ripped, i requested a replacement, that one ripped too. The canopy doesn't stay in place posing a possible dangerous situation. Most importantly the handle has become very wobbly and is showing signs of stress in the plastic. After reading reviews on the target.com website, i have discovered that 99% of the reviews have the same complaint and even to the point of the handle breaking causing an infant to be dropped while being carried! something needs to be done before a child suffers serious injury or even death!

My car seat was manufactured after the recalled one.september of 2006. The grey part around the handle is separating from the underplastic.the arms are too flexible and feel as though they could break any moment. The car seat base is very poorly made, as the foot that is used to raise the levels on the seat pops out of place if you place any kind of weight on it while installing the base.the base easily flips.overall i am very dissatisfied with the product.also, the belt system is uncomfortable at best and they tend to twist.there is not enough padding on the head sides to cushion baby while carrying the seat...my child is only 6 months old and is still small enough for the seat.

I have the evenflo emrace with the handle that was already recalled. I got the replacement parts and attatched them accordingly. Now the dark grey part of the handle is coming apart from the rest of the handle. We have been holding it by the sides for fear of it falling.this is very dangerous and should be fixed.there was no injury thankfully but i foresee it happening in the future if its not fixed.

I was moving my child, in his carseat, from a highchair to a sling. He wasn't buckled in. I made sure that the handle locked. When the carseat was nearly to the sling, the handle gave way and the seat lunged forward resulting in my child falling head first into the concrete floor.

Consumer evenflo embrace plastic tab broke off the base making it impossible to adjust the base with only 1 side.

I have an evenflo embrace car seat.the car seat has never snapped into the base without a lot of force on my part.had to physically push down on it.when i first starting using this seat i heard it click like it was in place, only to be driving down the road and then heard a loud click.it had not been properly secured, and that was with me pushing down on it!aki know that the base issue has happened with at least one other mother.hers had always worked until she bought a different car (with the plushier seats).then she could not get the seat to snap into the base at all, and ended up buying a totally different car seat for her child.i did find out that it makes a difference what kind of vehicle you own.previously i had the base in a 1994 dodge grand caravan.apparently the plush seats made it difficult to snap in.however, now i have a 2001 windstar and the seat hooks right into the base the way it should.and this van has latch anchors, so i can actually get the base in tight enough for me to feel it is safer.also, when using the seat belt to secure the base, it moves more than it is supposed to.the handle does not feel like it is correctly on the seat.i can move the handle sideways, back and forth.you can see a gap where the handle attaches to the seat.it makes me worry that the handle may break, on top of my other problems.i would like a warning to go out about the installation of these seats.if you have a nice, flat, firm seat to use it with, it works wonderfully.but if you have a plush (softer i guess) interior, most likely there will be problems!

Client purchased an evenflo stroller and infant seat combination model number 5561673 manufactured 12/15/2005. Base that was included was not compatible with this infant seat (base was for evenflo discovery) i contacted evenflo and they are shipping replacement base to me. I was able to provide parent with correct base out of our store room.

Evenflo infant seat with base, model #5501685a, date of manufacture 01/15/06. Base adjuster pops out of base when base is secured in vehicle. Base adjuster has 2 side projections which fit into holes on the base. These pieces do not stay together. Parents could successfully put adjuster back into base, but unable to adjust positions (1,2 or 3) by pressing button that says to press to adjust height. I could not get adjuster repositioned into base at all. Parents purchased new system and will try to return this product, but do not have receipt.

I purchased the evenflo embrace car seat and travel system. I had it for approximately 3 months. The car seat base hada bottom for elevating itself up to three levels. The foot was no longer able to move up and down. If you get it into level three the base will pop out. I have requested a return. I believe that the company needs to look at recalling the base as it can be a safety issue because it can slide down out of the proper level anytime, especially in an accident and cause child to be injured.

A safety seat technician stated that during the installation of an evenflo embrace safety seat, the foot base on the seat became dislodged and popped out of the base.the model # is 5801730a.the manufactured date was january 29, 2007.there were two stress points that formed on the shell of the base.the seat was unable to be installed.the owner of the safety seat returned the seat.the manufacturer stated that the seats have been tested and no failures were found.the purchase date was unknown.

Car seat does not latch properly into base. We have to push down hard on the seat to get it to click into place. There have been times where we thought the seat was secure only to hear it click into place while driving. Also no matter how tight we get the seat belt through the base, the end of the base , near the front seat back, wiggled back and forth . Also bounced whendriving.

At a car seat inspection event, a new base for an evenflo embrace was found to be defective. The adjuster on the base was stuck and would not lock in place in the designated positions.

The contact owns an evenflo embrace 5. The contact stated that the base of the child seat cracked while her husband attempted to install the seat.the purchase and manufacturing dates were unavailable.

No crash. The angle part of the base to the evenflo embrace came apart when i unbuckled the base to re-tighten it in the car. The button to move the angle is stuck and the angle part will not go back into the base.

Evenflo embrace 5 had a broken peg on foot base.

The level adjustor foot has been falling out when we remove it from the car.it is difficult to get it back in.the level adjustment button doesn't work at all.i'm afraid that it will fall apart or have problems if the car stops fast or is in an accident.the seat handle also seems to have problems.when carrying the seat the left side of the handle twists and looks like it's separating at the top.

Evenflo embrace foot in the base was taken out to adjust the angle of the car seat and will not go back in. Consumer says they do not want to use it anymore because it may be unsafe.

2/28/2007. Evenflo embrace. Adjusting foot on base broke away from base. *mcmodel # 317478. The consumer has not purchased the car seat. The car seat is a floor model at a store.

I have the evenflo embrace car seat and stroller. I have been using this for four months now and have not been happy with it from the beginning. It is impossible to get the base tight enough in the car so that it does not move in the seat. I called evenflo and was told that this is because in a crash it would be better if the seat slid than for the seat to stay in place and the baby to be thrown from the seat. After seeing the videos on the car seat tests i feel even more sure that this seat and base is not safe. Although we have not been in an accident i do not think that the seat and base would protect my daughter if there was an accident.

Car seat purchased for use at a permanent fitting station location in indiana. There is a small "button" on each side of the base that holds the adjustable leveling device to the base. One of the "buttons" broke off on one side of the base, causing the leveling foot to be unstable and causes the functioning side to come out of the hole on the other side, leading the base to not stay in position to maintain the 45 degree angle needed for installation. Seat can't be used without the base, no belt path. This is the second seat from this batch manufactured 11/22/05 that has had this problem. I returned the first one, which was replaced by the manufacturer, and am planning on returning the second one, but feel this is an engineering flaw if it breaks during shipping.

I was involved in a motor vehicle accident with my 7 month-old son. We had an evenflo embrace 5 car seat, upon impact this infant carrier car seat that my son was sitting in broke free from its base. Luckily, my son was not injured, but it was obviously, horrifying for me to look in the mirror following the accident and not see the car seat where it should be, and i shudder to think of what could have happened to my son. *the fire dept said my base was perfectly installed upon investigation at the accident - i was driving a 2006 ford freestyle with latch system and side airbags. Model number 5982076p1 - july 18, 2005.

I placed my daughter in the carseat/carrier and secured the 5pt belt( the carrier was on the floor at this point). I then pulled the handle forward to the upright position for carrying.as i was lifting the carrier up the seat flipped forward. I immediatly corrected the seat and then placed it back on the ground. Fortunatelly my daughter was ok. I was just notified by my family that there was a recall. I registered my carrier and was told per a message on the mfr. Site, that my carrier is not on the recall list. I feel that it should be, although my child was not injured the carrier still had a malfunction. The manufarturing date was sept. 12, 2006, i feel the date on the recall should be changed and my carrier should be included for the safety of my child.

I have a evenflo embrace car seat.my daughter is now 3 weeks old, and therefore only been using it for 3 weeks.she only weighs 9 pounds.i am really concerned that there is a handle problem with this car seat.it moved and you can see wherethe plastic of the handle has flex points in the plastic already, and she's only 9 pounds.i'm really concerned what's going to happen when she weighs 20 pounds.i have also noticed that as she has gotten bigger, that the latch on the handle moves unexpectedly, like you never had it locked into the carrying position.there has been more than one incident.that's what's alarming to me, since we have only been using the carseat for 3 weeks.the model number my car seat is #3201526 p1.it was manufactured on jan 26-05.

Evenflo embrace 5 model# 3171478 manufacturer date 28 oct 2005. My wife and i have been using this new car seat for about 6 weeks now. Today when i was positioning the carrying handle i noticed that one of the sides was not locking correctly so i immediately placed my hand underneath to make sure it did not drop. Since it is sunday i have not been able to contact the manufacturer yet but will see what they tell me tomorrow. Also as soon as i placed the car seat on the floor and moved the handle into the appropriate position one of the red locking mechanisms fell out. Thank god that my 6 week old was already on the ground. I have looked at the other complaints on this site about this same type of situation and on none of them does it look like the manufacturer has helped any. At this time i can only use this as an infant carrier.

The contactwasrequesting recall information for an evenflo embrace rear facing infant seat. A safety seat technician from a health department stated that a parents child safety seat handle failed to lock on several occasions.the infant was not injured..the model# was3172478p1, it was manufactured on 4/19/06. The parents were given a new child safety seat. Updated 03/29/07.

My husband went to remove the car seat from the vehicle, and the left side (as you are facing the car seat) of the handle would not latch into place to keep the carrying handle upright.if you wiggle the red button just right, it will eventually latch in place, but not on its own.our daughter has not been injured, but we are returning the seat/stroller combo to walmart first thing in the morning for an exchange of some kind.

On 8/29/06 i had noticed the handle to the evenflo embrace car seat was starting to split apart. We would carry the car seat with two hands one hand holding underneath, until we got the stroller or used the store cart.i went online emailing the manufacture informing them of the problem and if there is a way to fix it. 2 weeks later at a clinic my wife was picking up the car seat when the handle split apart, and the car seat slipped out her hands and fell less then 12 inches towards the ground.child protective services was called.i went online to walmart.com to buy just the car seat.

My six month old daughter's bouncy chair was dirty and waiting to be washed, so we were substituting her bouncy seat with her car seat while we (my husband and i) stood and talked in the kitchen. I raised the handle on her carseat, listened for the click, wiggled it a little to make sure it secured, then went to lift the carseat slightly to rotate her towards me to buckle her in, and it fell forward. She did fall out, thankfully a small fall, and has one scratch under her eye due to the incident. (she was holding a sippy cup which prevented her face from hitting the floor. ) she only cried for a moment and from then on was entirely fine without any bruising or other injuries (besides the scratch) and did not need medical attention. At first i thought that it just didn't secure properly and maybe i didn't hear the click of the carseat handle, but upon hearing that her carseat model (evenflo embrace) was recalled for this reason, i checked her model number and date of production, and although the date falls after the april date (its august 14th of 2006) the fact that the very same thing happened in this model that was occuring in the slightly older model's concerned me. Thank goodness my daughter didn't suffer any severe injuries but i would like to report it to prevent the injuries of other infants. We have now discontinued the use of this car seat and will be buying the next size up that goes from birth until they no longer need the seat. I cannot remember the incident date exactly, but i will be off by no more then 3 days.

Safety recall- evenflo embrace customer states that the repair kit is not adequate remedy for a product of this nature customer wants a refund or credit**cc

I was carrying my 7 month old foster baby in his evenflo embrace carseat and the handle broke. He was not injured and i did not drop him luckily but i can not use the carseat as a carrier anymore it is no longer safe at all. This could have been a terrible accident and he could have been hurt very bad if my other hand was not empty at the time to recover from the unexpected drop.

The report that i am sending is in regards to a child passenger safety seat. This parent came to my place of business to have her child seat inspected and we found the following: infant seat evenflo embrace model# 3171539p1 manufactured feb. 08, 2006 had the screws in the top carrying handle of the infant seat fall off and was missing. In turn it made the handle very unsafe. The mother stated she called the manufacturer and they offered to give her her money back. We reinstalled a new seat that the parent provided in her vehicle.

**model# 317157p1*evenflo embrace ** this is my second car seat (same model number) that has malfunctioned the exact same way. This is also my second complaint! the first car seat was replaced by evenflo with the same exact type of car seat.the handle on the infant carrier wears out quickly. There are "pins" that are supposed to keep the handle from sliping out of the locked position. These "pins" pop out of the holes they are supposed to lock into and it causes the handle to move and the infant seat to fall/slip forwardeven if my baby is not in the seat.

I bought an evenflo embrace infant carrier for my daughter and we used it for 3 months when the red lever that lays back the handle snapped in and caused the handle to buckle and twist. My daughter thankfully was not injured but i thought i should get a new car seat so that nothing further would happen. So, i took the car seat to the place where i purchased it and they said they could only give me 17 dollars and it is a 75 dollar car seat. I just want my daughter to be safe and i want a reliable car seat.

I was moving my child, in his carseat, from a highchair to a sling. He wasn't buckled in. I made sure that the handle locked. When the carseat was nearly to the sling, the handle gave way and the seat lunged forward resulting in my child falling head first into the concrete floor.

The left buckle tongue was put on backwards.as a result it will not buckle correctly. Evenflo embrace s, 3171478 p1. The seat was purchased from evenflo directly.

We purchased the evenflo embrace 5 child restraint system that also came with the stroller.the model number beganwith 550.the handle became looser with each use andwe planned to contact them about theproblem onmonday 7/9/07.however, before we could call them another problem occurred.a piece of the harness adjuster plastic broke off when properly adjusting it, making the seat unsafe andnot usable since our baby wouldn't be restrained.evenflo service/call center was not open over the weekend andno one could be reached to discuss the problem.we couldn't be without a car seat, so after researching car seats online andcurrent recalls we had to make a 4 hour round trip andspend close to $300 replacing the seat/stroller with one that had high reviews.also, i registered our evenflo car seat/stroller back on 5/22/07, but did not receive any notice that thecar seat had a recall on the handle.this upset us very much since the registration wasfor notification purposes andour baby's safety was at stake.also, ipurchased an extra base which hasn't even been opened.our car seat/stroller was purchased new, andhas only been used for 1 month , not even every day!.this car seatwa severe unsafe.
