The tightening/loosening buckle on the strap of my evenflo chase booster seat with 5 point harness works backwards! it will loosen with no effort, yet, you need to press the "release" button to tighten the straps.

Evenflo comet booster seatmodel # 3222328 p1manufactured in 04 july 02.

I have a 1999 hyundai accent.the driver's side rear seat belt is malfunctioning.it will either pull out and not retract, or it will retract all the way and not come out.i called a dealer to see if there were any recalls for this, being a safety issue and all, they told me no.i had my daughter's car seat belted in that seat in the morning with no problem, took it out and when we tried to put it back in, the seat belt was retracted all the way and wouldn't pull out at all.for the time being the car seat is in the middle position, but now my oldest child's booster seat will not fit.if there are other people with this problem, maybe a recall could be issued or something.

We purchased an evenflo apollo booster seat for my son on august 24, 2002.within three weeks, one of the belt positioning guides had snapped off the seat. This was unimportant at the time, as my son was and still is using the five point harness on the seat, and not the car's lap/shoulder belt. However, the more distressing incident occurred today. I was driving home with my son in the booster seat behind me, when i felt a harder than usual bump against the back of my seat (he occasionally can kick my seat, but this was much harder) followed by my son's hand grabbing my arm. He had nearly escaped from his seat; only one leg remained held in place. It turns out that the metal clip which anchors the right strap behind the seat had managed to work itself loose and came through the back of the seat to the front. This left half of the harness unattached and allowed my son to wriggle most of his body free of the seat. (the main buckle and chest clip were still latched.) as i was only about one mile from home, i pulled over and fixed it as best i could (i couldn't take the seat out to fix it, as i was stopped beside a busy road and had nowhere other than the seat to secure my son and prevent him from getting out of the car and into the road) and we went straight home. I have now taken the seat out, and none of the parts on the back of the seat appear to be broken, so i am assuming that the metal clip had simply come loose over time. It was a frightening experience and i hate to think of the result had we been in a collision while the clip was loose or coming loose. I cannot trust this seat any longer and will be contacting the manufacturer as well.

The contact owns an evenflo 3171478 l1 child seat.she stated that the z shaped handle felt weak as if it could break.there is a recall on the seat but not for the build date.the contact has not spoken with evenflo.

Dt*: the contact stated while taking the baby out of the vehicle the child safety seat handles unlocked and the baby fell. The child's head hit the pavement.the baby was taken to the hospital.there are several recalls for the evenflo safety seats but not for this model.

Dt: the positioning clip on the child safety seat broke while trying to clip it.

Consumer stated the seat belt guide clip was defective. Theclip was made of cheap plastic, while driving consumer applied brakes normally and clip broke.css info:evenflo/245119p1/2002

The style of belt positioning clip on the evenflo comet booster seat allows slack to be introduced into the shoulder belt but does not allow the seat belt to retract.

While securing the evenflo comet booster car seat, the styrofoam between the seat and the back broke.my two-year-old daughter is able to slide the harness clip down and wiggle her arms out of the harness, even though it is snug according to the instructions.both my two-year-old and i have scratched ourselves, even lacerating the skin resulting in bleeding, on the shoulder strap positioner because the plastic edges are so sharp.my two-year-old daughter has bruised the backs of her thighs and her bottom on the harness adustment knob while getting out of the seat.

Evenflo model # 3182198p1,dom 03/10/2005. I work for aaa auto club south as a certified passenger safety technician.this weekend, april 2, 2005, we were having a safety seat checkpoint in coral springs.we purchased 36 booster seats (with internal harness systems) from evenflo to have in case we needed to replace a seat (we also purchased 84 convertible seats - but they are fine). I need to let you know that there is a very serious defect with the booster seats that we purchased.here is the problem:if you take the harness strap and move it to the top slot (on the left side) there is no plastic "tooth" to snap the metal bar back into.basically, there is no way to secure the harness strap behind the seat.if the parent or child moves the harness while wearing the straps, it will come out of the holder in the back.

While installing an evenflo express 5 point harness booster seat, it was necessary to change the shoulder strap position to the top most position.first, it was extremely difficult to remove the harness anchor from the lower position.secondly, securing the harness anchor into the upper slot was equally difficult.this seems to be a bad design.the manual makes no mention of tools you will need to remove and resecure the harness anchors.it shouldn't be this difficult to make an adjustment.

I have 4 evenflo booster seats, 2 highback and 2 backless.the backless have a seat pad that doesn't always stay secured to the base and leads me to think that in the event of an accident the pad will slide out from under the child and also cause the child to slide out as well. The armrests also fail to stay erected.on the highback models the armrests dont stay secured to the seat.i called evenflo and they said if i buy parts the second part will be free, in essence buy 1 get 1.this is unsatisfactory.the safety of my children is of utmost importance and therefore i will no longer use the seats that i have.i also will no longer purchase evenflo products. I have been a loyal customer for the past 10 years. Updated 10/10/07.

My daughter bruises on her spine and bottom when sitting in her car seat for more than 20 minutes.i have reported the problem to the manufacturer, who has offered a refund, and i will take them up on it.the seat, an evenflo chase lx, has holes in the padding where the seat is bolted to the base.those holes are the cause of the bruising.the belt pass-through on the back of the seat has kind of a sharp edge and that is where the bruising occurs on her back.

Dt:child safety seat is suppose to fit a child of up to 7 years and 80 pounds, seat will not fit consumer's child that is 3 years old and 47 pounds.

A parent came into our check up event with an evenflo combination seat # 3221208 manufactured on 10/30/2003. She was using this as a bpb for her son ,whowas 4 years old and 41 pounds. She i wasunable to use the seat correctly because the plastic shoulder belt positionersbroke off on both sides. The shoulder belt rode up too high in the child's neck. She has the identical seat for her daughter,whowas5years and 45 pounds manufactured on 10/28/2003. The shoulder belt positioners were still intact on this seat, but seem ed vary flimsy, and appearedthey could break off easily like the on the other seat. She too neededto use the shoulder belt positioners in order to obtain a correct fit. The parent called evenflo ,and was told the seat was too old to replace, and they could do nothing to help her. This seat was 3 1/2 years old, well under the expiration date. Typically, parentswere not using the shoulder belt positioners on their combination seats until after they had the seat for 2 or more years since theywere using the harness system prior to that. I feel that evenflo should correct this problem on these seats and replace seats to parents who are or will be using them as a bpb so they can be used correctly.

I just purchased a pair of evenflo comet booster seats, which seem nice, except that they have "easy" access to the car seatbelt, which is what concerns me. This gaping hole is left covered only by a flap of fabric. My fear is that in a rear end collision there is nowhere near enough support for the child's back. I called the evenflo hotline, and they told me this design was tested and safe, but it's not worth the risk, so i will be returning these promptly.

Evenflo express model# 312198p1.metal harness adjuster is supposed to snap to the back of the booster seat.on this seat, there is nothing to snap the adjuster to. Consumer contacted the manufacturer, who indicated that the seat was safe.

The contact claimed to be an inspector for the sumpter, florida medical center.the contact felt that the evenflo express/vision/chase/tradition/ high back booster seats weredifficult when attempting to lock the harness strap.additionally, the metal part of the strap that lockedinto the shell becameloose.this was due to the shell not being large enough to hold the strap, causing it to slip out.the contact stated that the failure was only on the left side of the top slots, and did not apply to all evenflo express/vision/chase/tradition/ high back booster seats.
