Child restraint allows shoulder straps to move freely up and down providing for children to wiggle out of shoulder straps and push them down.this causes the child to move torso freely in car seat.the only portion then remaining in tact is the fastner between legs.

The contact owns an evenflo triumph convertible child seat, model number: 3802801l3, manufactured may 1, 2008. The contact stated that while securing the child into the seat, the chest clip fractured. The manufacturer was notified of the failure who offered her a fifty percent discount on a replacement child seat but the contact had not determined if she wanted to accept the offer.the contact continued to own the child seat.

On march 19, 2013, while traveling in our vehicle, our 3yr son began screaming. Unlike typical fits with children this age, my wife pulled over to determine what was wrong.she noticed a large piece of black foam lodged in his nose.she was able to determine that he item was black styrofoam that had come from his car seat.on the lower portion of the seat, there are belt path holes.these are within reach of the child occupant.on the inside of the hole is black styrofoam.our toddler, unbeknownst to us, was able to pick at the stryofoam, breaking small pieces off.he then put them into his nose.on march 20, 2013, i noticed bloody mucus around his nose.examining closer, i saw that there was more styrofoam still stuck in his nose from the day prior, causing irritation and bloody discharge.we took him to urgent care.they were able to remove additional pieces and stated they believed the nasal cavity to be clear.later that evening, our son began to complain about his ear.it was noticed then, that pieces were pushed way down his ear canal.he was taken to our pediatrician.at that office, our son sneezed, dislodging more small styrofoam balls from his nose.we were then referred to an ent specialist and are currently heading to that office for treatment.as this is fairly recent, the only quick fix so far was to cover the opening with duct tape.this will prevent him from digging more styrofoam out of the seat.in checking, there are no recalls for this particular seat, however there are recalls for this seat with a manufacture date between 2001 - 2005, with similar circumstances.i will be filing a complaint with evenflo regarding this incident.the safety seat information is as follows:evenflo "triumph"model # 38211110date of manufacture:2011/01/04expires on 2017/01/02

No events led up to the failure. The carseat harness loosens itself whenever i drive. I called the company, nothing has been done to fix the seat.

I took the cover off my son'a car evenflo triumph advance car seat to clean it.i pulled the straps all the way out so i could wipe them off with a cloth and noticed fraying on one side a few inches from the farthest it came out.i looked at the other strap and it had a little fraying in about the same location.this is not a part of the straps normally exposed because my son does not need them pulled out that far. I took pictures and contacted evenflo.they reviewed the pictures and told me they determined the fraying would not be a manufacturing defect of the harness.the red tabs on the harness are also broken.

The contact owns a 2007 evenflo child safety seat, model number 380-1676.the seat was manufactured on february 1, 2008.the contact stated that her child managed to wiggle out of the child seat and proceeded to stand in the seat while the vehicle was in motion.the contact was unaware that the child was not properly restrained until he called her name.she attempted to tighten the straps to the point where she could not fit a finger inbetween the restraints.the child still managed to get out of the child seat again with the harness loosened.on one occasion, the vehicle was struck in the rear and the top of the child seat threw the child forward with the bottom still attached to the vehicle.the child received head trauma.a police report was filed.the purchase date and failure type were unknown.

Over time and use the harness retainer clip broke and will not fasten properly.seat must now be discarded because it is a nonreplacable part.

On back of evenflo convertible child restraint, above recessed handle, it is apparent that a gap has formed at the seams of the two pieces of plastic, which is making visible the inside structure of the carseat.i have two evenflo child restraints, one appears to not be gaping open.the inconsistency is a concern.i have corresponded via email with evenflo who has assured me this situation is not a safety concern.i have provided them a photograph, as well.the manufacture date is 06mar08, model # 3801676 l2.

Evenflo triumph advance' lx convertible fails to perform basic carseat functions. Actual carseat damages itself via razor sharp plastic openings where the latch system strap or vehicle restraint strap goes through the seat. We have been physically cut on this plastic along with the latch strap being frayed and cut beyond safe use. We have discontinued using the latch system but are concerned that the vehicle's safety restraint strap will also be frayed and become unsafe along with permanent damage to our vehicle. This plastic issues has resulted in gross safety issues on a constant basis. Child can easily get out of the carseat regardless of strap tension every single use. The chest clip slips up and down too easily and child can simply, with 1 finger, slide the chest clip the to 5 point harness, wiggle arms and legs out and get into a standing position without much difficulty. No action has been taken by the manufacturer.

There were no events leading up to the failure. The carseats harness straps loosen by themselves every time i drive. I contacted the company, nothing has been done to correct the problem.

As my child got older i wanted to make sure that he met the size and weight requirements to continue using his child restraint in a rear facing position.i looked at the warning sticker on the seat and it said that the rear facing limit was 20 lbsi was very surprised to see this because i thought the weight capacity was much higher when i bought it.i then looked at the manual to see how to properly install the seat in a forward facing position.the manual had a contradictory warning statement that said the child must be changed to the forward facing position once he reaches 35lbs.the contradictory warning statements applied to the side of the seat and in the manual are concerning because parents may be more likely to turn the child seat around sooner than necessary.if it truly is safer to keep a child rear facing as long as possible this label should be corrected.

While performing a child passenger safety check this evening, i found a labeling problem on a new seat.there is conflict between two of the labels reference maximum weight.seat is an evenflo triumph, model 3801880l2manufactured 10/08/08.on the left side is a yellow "warning" label which says the seat is for use rear-facing only for infants under 20 pounds.the label above it, and the owners manual, state the seat is for use rear-facing for infants to 35 pounds.the evenflo web site also states 35 pounds. I'd hate to see parents turn an infant forward-facing too soon based on the apparently incorrect warning label.i can provide the owner's information if necessary.

I bought a car seat and after a few months of use, i noticed that the child's harness became very loose. After investigating the seat and taking it out, i realized it had a faulty harness and the slack would come out without any effort!i made a video and posted so other parents would speak up about the same problem. I have been informed by a technician that this is not supposed to happen and that my seat is dangerous to use since this is happening. I am discontinuing the use of this seat until i am able to contact evenflo about this and get a solution to my problem.

We have an evenflo triumph lx that has defective harness straps.they will not stay in position and constantly fall down to the lowest position.this makes the seat unusable for our 3 year old son since he is forward facing and needs to have the straps at or above his shoulders.this defect is very dangerous and needs to be remedied to keep our child safe.we were not aware that the seat was malfunctioning until we attended a child safety seat check this afternoon and the cpst told us the straps were supposed to lock into position and not fall to the bottom of the seat.we had to discontinue use of the seat until evenflo remedies the situation, and we are using a different seat in the meantime.

I am a cps technician and the tether strap is too long and doesn't allow the strap to tighten all the way.this was used for a ford focus passenger car with the tether anchors on the back dash.we had the adjuster as tight as it would go and the buckle on the tether would not allow it to tighten in anymore.about a 2-3 inch play in it.this was the evenflo model 380183712 dom 2/18/2008(related vehicle information: model year=2005, make=ford, model=focus).

After purchasing the evenflo triumph advance, i attempted to install it in my 2002 honda odyssey.after using the latch system to install the child restraint in the forward-facing position of my 2nd row captains chair, i was not able to use the top tether on the child restraint.the reason for this was the tether strap is too short.the strap was at least 6-12 inches too short, and could not reach the tether anchor of the odyssey.when i called evenflo, they informed me that i cannot currently order a longer strap.since the honda odyssey is a very ubiquitous vehicle, and since many retailers will not accept returns of opened child restraints, i am sure that many, many parents will simply forgo using the top tether.they will give up.but the top tether is an important safety feature.without a longer tether on the evenflo triumph advance, many parents will not completely install their car seat, and many children will be less safe on the roads.evenflo should lengthen the strap on the triumph advance immediately.or, as a less desirable alternative, they should provide a longer strap free of charge to parents who request one.

The contact owns an evenflo triumph lx model # 3801801l2, forward facing child safety seat. She stated that when she adjusted the straps and resized they wouldnot lock in place. The contact is very concerned about her child's safety.
