I purchased an evenflo triumph 5 car seat because the salesperson at babies r us told me that it was considered just as safe as the britax roundabout, but less money.i started putting my daughter in the carseat when she was 6 months old and ever since i began putting her in the carseat the shoulder straps have been sliding off of her shoulders.the shoulders straps offer her no protection if we were in an accident.evenflo was of no assistance when i called to complain.

Dt:evenflo triumphmodel # 264196x1, dom 02/11/2002.the consumernoticed onjanuary 1, 2005 that there were two mealrings that look like key chain rings. Consumer contacted evenflo, and there was a recall, and the recall repairswas done to the child safety btu the consumer was never notified of the repair when the seat was purchased.the retailer put a sticker over the date of manufacture and gave it a new sticker since the recall work had been done.however, therecallrepairsweredone improperly. The consumerlearned since the recall that the manufacturergave the stores the fixed kit for the recalls and gave them new stickers to add to the seat . Updated 12/14/2005.

While inspecting a css at our inspection station i noticed a very confusing weight requirements for the rf position for the seat.on the big label (yellow) on the seat it stated good for rf up to 30lbs on the small white label it said should not be used rf for children over 20lbs.the model # 3591208p1evenflo triumphmfg date 11/03/03.

Triumph, model #3591658l1, date of manufacture 01/17/2007tribute, model #3791686p1, date of manufacture 01/09/2007both of these car seats are labeled (per your requirements according the manufacturer) with a sticker that statesthat the car seat can only be used rear facing until 20lbs.yet the car seat is approved until 30 lbs.my child is only 5 months old and based on that label we should turn him front facing - despite every expert disagreeing.

I bought a car seat for my son who is almost two yrs old.we went to a family trip, the car seat became so dirty do to soills and i needed to remove it from the car so i could clean it. The belt that goes on the back of the seat (on the floor) to secure from move it, got stuck, when i try to hold the car seat and unlock the belt. The back of the seat broke, the styfoam was just being hold to two plastics to the actual hard cover. I'm so worry to put them back that in case of a really car accident this car seat will break again and will not protect my child at all .

The contact owns an evenflo triumph child restraint.the contact's child is over one year old and weighs over 20 lbs.when the child is seated, three fingers can fit between the child and the belt.the strap cannot be adjusted any closer to the child.the child slides down due to the extra space and can slide her arms out.the manufacturer suggested jamming a piece of material in the space whenever the child is seated.updated 02-01-08.the consumer statedthe problem was with the straps that goes bewteen the child's legs.

No warning was given.the evenflo triumph carseat is the seat my 2 yr old rides in my husband's car.my son mainly rides in my car that is a different seat.well my car was in the shop getting fixed, so we were riding in my husbands car.i buckled my son in the seat , to which at the times seemed fine.when i got home to unbuckle him out of the carseat.i noticed the chest buckle clip had broke.the one side no longer hand the prong which secures it.the other side was fine.it was the strangest thing.i contacted evenflo to see if it could be replaced and they so no for this model.i am very upset that a chest buckle clip, the one thing to keep my child in, failed.thankfully it failed before/if we were in an accident.

Dt*: the contact stated the picture on the box of the child safety seat shows an infant in the rear facing child safety seat with the head pillow in use.the owner's manual instructs consumers not to use the head pillow for the rear facing infant seat.the manufacturer confirmed the head pillow should not be used for the infant rear facing.also, the contact statedthat the owner's manual is outdated and does not list the correct parts for this particular child safety seat.the contact is concerned that very few people will use this child safety seat correctly due to the misleading picture on the box and the out dated owner's manual.the manufacturer of the child safety seat is evenflo.the brand name is triumph premier convertible; model # 3931624p1.the manufacturingdate is: 02-28-06. Updated on 05/30/2006.

Our 2yr old child removed the tension knob from an evenflo triumph carseat.evenflo is 'recommending discontinuing use' with no explaination, apology, repair or replacement option.if a child can pull on a knob that faces them upon entering a car and render the seat unsafe, this mechanism can not be safe.these types of seats need to be recalled and the manufacturer needs to replace the seats!manufacture date: 7/8/2010model #: 38211110.

The problem is with the warning label on my convertible car seat.the warning label states that the seat can only accommodate an infant, rear-facing, up to 20 pounds.when i called the manufacturer, i was told the seat can accommodate an infant, rear-facing, up to 30 pounds.while this did not cause a crash, i think the warning label on a car seat should accurately reflect the weight capacity of the car seat.

I own the evenflo triumph lx convertible car seat. I recently reviewed the report on chemicals in car seats on http://www.healthystuff.org/departments/childrens-products/product.details.php?getrecno=22254 and found that my car seat had tested positive for lead in the buckles!i am very upset that i have been placing my child every day into a device i trust to keep him safe only to learn that he is handling lead (he likes to hold the buckle) and that i am also exposing myself daily. There is absolutely no reason that evenflo should be putting lead into a childrens product. Because the product has not been recalled babies r us will not return or exchange the car seat forcing me to purchase another car seat to keep my child seat.i don't care if the argument is that the levels of lead are low, there is no reason for lead to be in a childs product.i appreciate your assistance in prompting evenflo to recall this product and provide children with a safe product.[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Consumer evenflo triumph metal piece that secures the crotch strap was found loose such that the edge of the metal was protruding from the seat.this defect was found during a child seat check up event.the white clip that holds the harness buckle against the adjustment in the back of the seat had come off and fell out of the seat as the seat was tipped and moved during the check.the consumer claimed that the seat had not been moved since the initial installation by a certified tech (evenflo triumph 3591404p1).

Tether straps on some child restraints are to short i had this happen on an even flo convertable when putting it in a honda mini van.

A web user sent this complaint via e-mail. Consumer reported a disturbing problemexperienced with 2 separate purchases of child seats.notcertain on the manufacturing date. The lock-washer from one side of the reclining handle apparatusbroke off. The washers broke in a similar fashion on both seats.consumer exchanged them for new ones. *tc

Our evenflo triumph car seat harness system failed. The rigid plastic plate that covers the mechanism no longer stays closed after only 3 1/2 years of use. This allows the harness to become trapped between the shell of the seat and the cover, making it almost impossible to adjust the harness length. This also allowed slack to be introduced into the harness making it unsafe to use.as we were leaving on vacation when the cover failed my husband screwed the plate shut to keep our child safe until we were able to replace the seat.

There are two warning labels on child seat regarding weight requirements that are contradicting each other.*mr one label stated " 20 lbs for rear facing." the other stated " rear facing 5-30 lbs." when a parent contacted envenflo and tried to obtain an owner's manual, they were told all pertinent information was on the child seat stickers. Evenflo didn't respond to parent emails. *ph

The evenflo triumph carseat, my son was in it rear-facing as he should be.he was able to pull off the sides to expose the styrofoam.he could pick at the styrofoam and put it in his mouthhe almost choked and died.i called evenflo.they said the 2004 model i have had been made with 3 clips ... They started making them with 4 clips in 2005 because of this issue.they never issued a safety recall or notified th owners at all. The one is my husband's car had the 4 clips.the styrofoam was still accessible, although not as easily.evenflo had me send both seats back to be examined.i am getting fully refunded.i told them they sould issue a recall before a child chokes and dies.

Today while driving down the road i heard a strange noise coming from the back seat, i turned around and there was pieces of white foam all over the center of the seat. My daughter had pulled back the cover on her evenflo triumph and was breaking away the foam. I checked the recalls on evenflo's website, there is recall for the brand and model, but her seat is supposed to be safe because it was manufactured during the "safe period". So now there is a chunk missing out of the protective foam on her car seat. The thing that really upsets me, she could have eaten or choked on the foam.

Owners manualinstructionsstatethat consumer can place a child into the convertible child seat, facing forward from 20-30 lbs, under a year old.throughout the remainder of the instructions the information is correct.the manufacturer has been informed of the mis print.*ph

Dt*:the contact stated the child eats styrofoam from the seat area of the child safety seat.the manufacturer directed the contact to divert the child's attention from the area.the contact is unable to create any type of diversion while driving.since the manufacturer offered no remedy, the contact is planning to replace the child seat with a new one.the child safety seat was manufactured by evenflo, the model is triumph #3591328 and the date of manufacture is 11/16/04.

I own 2 evenflo triumph convertible carseats, manufactured in 2002.i am concerned with the position of the air bag warning stickers.they are on the back of the seat, near the bottom--where the child's butt is at.with this location, the sticker is not visible at all when the child is in the seat.even when the child is not in the seat, the sticker is not very visible because of the bulk of the harness/buckle/belly pad blocking it.though i've had these seats, i've not really thought about this until recently.when i first got the seats i had difficulty finding the instructions--which are stored in a pocket behind the sticker.i had to wash the seat cover, and as i reinstalled it i saw the notation "instructions stored behind this flap" on the bottom of the air bag sticker.i thought to myself "now why in the world did i have trouble finding those instructions when the seat was new?i wondered that only about 30 seconds--until i put the harness back on and saw how it hid the sticker.in my mind this does not meet the requirements of fmvss 213 when it says that the sticker should be "permanently affixed to the outer surface of the cushion or padding in or adjacent to the area where a child's head would rest, so that the label is plainly visible and easily readable."it is not "in or adjacent to the area where a child's head would rest," nor is it "plainly visible."

I purchase a evenflo triumph and found that when the pressure of my child in the seat made the harnesses release.they child was 40 lbs.i took the seat out and cleaned all the debris away from the harnesses.i contacted evenflo and sent my seat to them to review.i could release the harness by putting the pressure from my hand in the seat.therefore with the child in the seat the harness might not lock during a crash.i did not get a response from evenflo.

Evenflo triumph advanced 65 foam separates from plastic back. Foam was squeaking as we drove down the road when she stopped we noticed the foam and completely come apart from the back of the seat.

The handle broke off, when the consumer picked up car the seat.

My daughter got her hand stuck in the evenflo triumph 5 rainshadow and received lacerations on two fingers.she had stuck her hand down where the seat belt comes up and they became stuck.

One week after purchasing the evenflo triumph advance (manufacture date 1/16/2009) a piece of the chest clip broke off which made the chest clip unable to fasten.the seat is unusable.contacted evenflo and they said they have had several complaints about the chest clip breaking.evenflo is sending me a replacement carseat of the same model within 2 weeks.

Dt: the contact states there is a nhtsa recall campaign02c004000 concerning the child seat. This vehiclehasthe same problem as indicated in the recall, butitis not included in the recall due to the manufacturer build date. No repairs have been made.

My daughter's evenflo triumph carseat's harness got stuck and she was just unable to come out of the carseat.. I literally took the carseat out of the car while she was sitting in it. I had to put a lot of force to unlock it.. Took me good 20 minutes and after that too, only one side of it came off and i had to pull my daughter out of it.

My evenflo triumph car seat is illegal.i noticed that there was a recall on the triumph car seat, and went to check my model number and year of manufacture i could not find it on the seat.i called evenflo, and their solution when i told them that there was no information on the seat was to repeatedly tell me (louder and slower every time) to recline the seat and look on the back between the seat and base for the white sticker with the model number and date of manufacture. Obviously, the sticker either fell off, which is hard to believe since there are numerous stickers on the seat and all are still fine, or they never bothered to put the sticker on in the first place.as the other stickers are still firmly attached, and as the customer service women were so phenomenally rude to me, i suspect the former. Sadly, the box is long gone.thank you for your attention to this matter.amy r. Loch.

Evenflo recline mechanism doesn't work properly. The yellow lever to loosen the harness straps does not work therefore the straps will not loosen. The seat was purchased new.the seat was returned to the retailer it was purchased from and the consumer notified them of the defect (model number 3891609p1)

Consumer complaint about customer service when she made a call to report car seats affected by the recall. Customer just wanted to see if they could mail or forward a copy of the recall to a friend.

I purchased the evenflo titan for my son about a year ago. The plastic base of the carseat is cracking just from normal day to day use. The supporting form pieces have broken also. The car seat no longer properly supports my son. I tried contacting evenflo and they were not helpful at all. The associate kept telling me to just purchase replacement pieces. She did not understand that the pieces were not replaceable and did not listen to me at all regarding my concerns.

Problems with straps on triumph 5 comfort touch convertible car seat with latch.*mrthe two straps which came down over the child's shoulders became uneven, therefore when the tightening them the straps tightened unevenly.

Evenflo; triumph, nov 01, 2002.while placing the child on the child seat the crotch strap that holds the buckle does not lock in place. The child is able to come of the car seat.please provide further details.

We are writing to inform you of a problem with the evenflo triumph 5 convertible car seat.we purchased the seat from target in countryside, illinois, in december 2004.we recently attempted to change the seat position from rear-facing to forward-facing.in the process of doing this, we decided to wash the seat cover and discovered that one of the opaque plastic clips that holds the shoulder harness strap in place from inside the seat was missing.upon further inspection, we discovered that it had come loose (or perhaps had always been loose), and was not attached where it should have been attached.this was very alarming to us because it could have significantly affected our daughters safety had we been in a car accident.there would have been no way to know that it was not in place had we not opened up the seat.we have discontinued using the seat and purchased a different one.

When buckling in my 2.5 year old son into the evenflomodel 2641196x1, domaugust 6, 2002, the retainer clip broke. The interior portion of the clip broke completely off so that i was unable to clip it at all. Iam currently using another seat. Parts were not replaced by evenflo, and the old part is available.

Harness locking system on evenflo car seat is defective. *mr the left release would become detached from the base and would unlock the harness.the consumer used the following vehicles when the incidents occurred:ford windstar 1998 and ford escape 2004.child seat model # 3591404 pl *sc

Harness system on my evenflo triumph car seat suddenly quit working.the adjusting knob spins continually and doesn't catch.incident date given is date we noticed it.

Dt: evenflo triumph model # 3591288p1, dom 06/18/2003.the contact stated the belt came loose on the inside of the harness. The belt did not rip or fray. The manufacturer was contacted, and they would replace the seat.

We purchased an evenflo triumph v carseat for our son just over 1 year ago.a few days ago when i placed my son in the seat, i tried to tighten the harness that keeps him restrained.however, the knob to tighten the harness would turn, but would not "click" to lock it into place.as a result, the harness was very loose and did not restrain my child at all.i called to tell evenflo about this defect and their response was to do nothing.they did not want to inspect the seat for the defect and they did not offer any sort of replacement for the seat.they seemed very unconcerned about what i feel was a very serious safety defect for a product i trust to keep my child safe.

The child restraint straps in my evenflo triumph v car seat suddenly lost tension and are now unable to be tightened.the child in the seat was therefore unsecured in the seat.

Evenflo triumph model 3591453 p1.the shoulder strap for the 5 point harness separated from the seat.it appears the spring and the knob it winds around to tighten have broken.there is no way to use the seat and i do not think this occurred because of abuse of the seat.we bought the seat new in january 2006, the seat was manufactured in dec of 2005.

I was advised by my nhtsa car seat inspector to inform you of the following:evenflo triumph, #359-1288p1, 8-25-03.due to contoured back seats in the newer vehicles, when rear facing the harness adjusters are not accessible.

I found the left shoulder strap had been installed improperly by the factory.the metal clip that holds the dual shoulder strap in the height adjuster was installed upside down.

Dt:the contact states there is a tension knob that should lock in place when the harness strap is adjusted.the knob no longer will lock in place; this allows the harness to move freely with the child in the seat.the manufacturer was contacted, and they stated because thewarrantyexpiredthey could not assist the contact in repairs.

This is regarding a car seat: i purchased an evenflo triumph dlx on oct. 2, 2004.the carseat came only with a latch belt on the left side.the latch belt and hook on the right side was missing.i purchased the seat at babies-r-us in silver spring, md.when i telephoned the store, the worker (john on oct. 3rd) checked the other seats of the same make and model and found that they were all defective.i'm concerned that all triumph dlx's were made incorrectly and sold.

Dt:consumer has an evenflo triumph child seat.when the child seat is in the rear position the fabric can be pulled up.this has happened since the purchase of the child seat. Thechild loosenedthe foamand s put itin her mouth.

Evenflo car seat triumph my 15 month old was able to lift the side of the car seat cover and pick at the styrofoam base.i found styrofoam in her mouth, and i also have photos of the damaged car seat. I called evenflo and reported it and wanted to have it repaired, redesigned or replaced.they sent me an identical car seat cover (aztec) and assurances that the design engineers would be notified.this was not going to prevent my daughter from accessing the styrofoam. I returned the carseat to the target store and made a complaint.since i did not have my receipt and i do not still have the car seat i am unable to give the proper exact date of manufacture or purchase.i do remember it was manufactured in june 2004 and i purchased it shortly after my daughter's 1st birthday june 16.

Evenflo triumph comfort touch. Consumer states that the extra padding is interfering with the harness adjustment. *mc

I own two evenflo triumph v car seats.both have broken pieces of foam after very little use.i contacted evenflo on three occasions and nothing has happened.i found out on a parenting websites message board that many others have had this problem and evenflo has replaced a few.however, most others like myself had to pay for it.the replacements were very inexpensive, but i believe this may be a bigger issue that needs to be addressed.also, my two seats that were purchased in 2004 (and manufactured just months apart) have different expiration dates on them.one of them expires in 2007 and the other in 2010.fortunately my daughter out grew this seat at age two and half years so i know longer have to use a seat that may or may not be safe.

-the contact has a evanflo trimphchild safety seat.while restrained the child was ableto pull off a large piece of the insulating foam. The contact then examined the child seat ,which no longer fittedproperly inthevehicle, she then called the manufacturer, and they told her that they will send her a new foam liner to replace the damaged one.the contact felt that the child should not be able to reach the foam liner and pull out pieces while properly restrained in the safety seat.

Car seat problem.i have an evenflo triumph 5 car seat for my 13 month old son.in september, the plastic hook that holds the cover on tore away from the cover.the cover could no longer stay on the styrofoam inside.i called evenflo, but never received the cover.on december 1, a big chunk of the styrofoam broke off.this left the car seat unusable.evenflo now wants me to continue to use the car seat until they send a replacement styrofoam, not even mentioning the cover.this would be very unsafe if my baby were in a crash, not to mention a choking hazard if he were to get a piece of the styrofoam.please place a recall on this car seat.i do not want to wait until a baby is injured in some way. *nlm

2003 evenflo triumph car seat recall. Consumer states that the recall was in reference to the cloth cover that could be pulled away from the shell and expose the foam allowing children to choke on pieces of foam they break off.the consumer stated the exact problem happened to her son's car seat, and she had to tape down the cover. The consumer stated her son managed to pick so much of the foam apart that eventually the foam cracked completely on one side, rendering the car seat useless and unsafe. Recall# 07c008000

My 16 month old daughter is able to lift the cloth seat cover off the arms of the triumph evenflo car seat and pick at the styrofoam beneath.she picks off pieces and puts them in her mounth - a clear choking hazard.i have contacted evenflo cs on two occasions and was told there is nothing that can be done except to buy the replacement styrofoam inserts.the car seat is only 6 months old!

The armrest cover is not secure and is only held by a strip of elastic allowing children to access the styrofoam armrests.children secured in the seat are easily able to pick at the styrofoam.this poses a severe choking hazard and is very distracting to the driver.i have had to pull over on two occasions to remove chunks of foam from my sons grasp.i contacted the manufacturer and they offered to replace the damaged foam after i sent in pictures.my son has picked out pieces of styrofoam up to 3/4 inch in diameter and has on one occasion attempted to place it in his mouth.

Child was able to pull up car seat fabric and pick at styrofoam underneath.had to pull over because child put styrofoam in mouth and was gagging on it.contacted evenflo and was given a refund and was told to send carseat to them so they could look at the problem.this was caused by a design flaw on their part and was not due to anything broken or missing pieces.

Dt:caller was looking at child safety seats in the store and noticed that some of them have styrofoam in them , and that the child can easily get to it to put it in their mouths and chock. Caller does not own one of these seats, but feels she should report it. Caller says other companies use the styrofoam as well. The styrofoam is located at the head and hip area. Seat is a evenflo triumph 5 comfort touch.

My son was riding in his car seat and pulled back the cover that goes over the arm rest which exposed the plastic underneath.in turn, the rough edge on the plastic arm rest severely scraped and somewhat cut his arm.it did not require an emergency room visit, but it does appear that it will leave a scar.

Evenflo triumphmodel # 359128p1,dom 10/21/2003.the child was choking offthe material fromboth sides of arm rest.child was able to pull underneath the car seatand place the material inside of his mouth.

My daughter has a tendency to scratch her ears when she gets tired as most babies do.whe she is in her car seat she scratches the back side of the padding/cover of the car seat.to my amazement one day she had scratched it so much that she had made a hole in the material used to cover the back side of the car seat cover.she then proceeded to take the stuffing/batting out and put it into her mouth.as i was pulling over to take this stuff from her and out of her mouth she started to choke on it. The fabric on the back side of the cover for her car seat should be at least as durable as that on the front, especially when it is so easily accessible to little hands.

Dt*:the contact stated the styrofoam padding, under the child seat cover, became accessible to the child three weeks ago without warning.the manufacturer was alerted and recommended adding velcro to secure the material covering the styrofoam. The child seat is an evenflo triumph, model 3591328, and was manufactured on 03/03/04.

My two year old 35 pound child ripped the protective arm off of an evenflo tribute carseat designed to accommodate up to 40 pound children.we were riding on the highway and she was buckled in at the time.

I recently purchased an evenflo triumph car seat. The date is within the dates shown to have been recalled but when i applied for the safety kit i was told that i did not need it. Also my son who has just turned 1 year old has pulled off the thin lining on the back side of the padding that goes around his head and eats the stuffing. I have had to cover his car seat in layers of blankets and i am constantly distracted while driving because oftrying to keep the blankets on his seat and keep him from choking on the inside padding of his car seat.

I own the evenflo triumph 5 convertible carseat.when removing the carseat from my car the foam piece located on the right side broke in half.i did not use any extreme force and am not a strong or big person.i contacted evenflo and they are sending a replacement part however i am very concerned and went out and purchased another carseat even though they stated that i could use this one until the part was replaced.

The harness does not tighten up, making the child fit loosely in the car seat, which could be dangerous if vehicle is involved in an accident. Manufacturer was contacted by owner.

Evenflo triumph car seat model 3591328 p1 man.date-sept 9, 2003. Shoulder harness too wide for 25 inch 14 lb baby, straps will not stay on shoulders. Representative at evenflo said they did have some seats that went out with belt holes too far apart on seat pad & would send me a new one.new pad--still same problem. 2nd rep i spoke to said she had same problem, seat did not fit her baby correctly til he was 9 mo old. I returned seat for safety reason.seat should be investigated.

The straps on this car seat do not remain on the child's shoulders regardless of how tight they are around the waist.this leaves the child without protection.i called evenflow and they are aware of this defect but are not making it public knowledge.they have a theory that the fault lies in the backing and state they will replace it now that they have a new pad to send you but it remains to be seen.this defect is not on all of these types of car seats just some.it is a big isse to those who have this carseat though, the child is not safe in that seat at all!my child is 11 months old and was able to free her right shoulder and upper body from the restraint just by falling asleep in the seat.i did contact evenflow and they are aware of the problem but not making it public.you have to contact them before they will let you know the problem is with the seat not the physical structure of the child.evenflow does not offer any type of refund or replacement so in hopes of protecting mt child i had to urchase a replacement car seat. I am upset because there are lots of unaware people with this seat and they need to bo notified before someone becomes injured by this defective seat.

Tether straps on some child restraints are to short i had this happen on an even flo convertable when putting it in a honda mini van.

*ph

Owners manualinstructionsstatethat consumer can place a child into the convertible child seat, facing forward from 20-30 lbs, under a year old.throughout the remainder of the instructions the information is correct.the manufacturer has been informed of the mis print.*ph

I found the left shoulder strap had been installed improperly by the factory.the metal clip that holds the dual shoulder strap in the height adjuster was installed upside down.
