I purchased the evenflo on my way 5-point harness infant car seat in july of 2001.by september 2001, the clip that holds the strap to the car seat broke off the car seat (this was not due to a car accident or any extreme force).i was tightening my daughter in the seat and it just broke off the car seat.i called evenflo and informed them of the problem.they took the information and said to stop using the seat.i subsequently bought another car seat for my daughter immediately.in december 2001 i received a new strap and attachment from evenflo for the car seat and was told this would rectify the problem.i repaired the strap and attachment but since my daughter was no longer an infant by this time, i didn't use the seat for her.i gave birth to a son in may of 2003. I used the evenflo infant seat for him for 3 months when the exact same part broke off the car seat just by strapping him in again.i was informed by evenflo that the seat should still be safe.i advised them that i did not feel it was safe since i could no longer tighten the strap securing my child in the car seat.they had no further comment after i informed them of the tightening issue with the strap.i have since stopped using the seat again.this car seat was used for a total of 5 months and broke twice.this product flaw appears to me as a safety issue that should be reported to you and rectified by evenflo. *la

Left side plastic adjuster for 5pt harness is breaking away from the back of infant carrier.this is the 4th time this has happened.the first 2 times evenflo replaced the entire seat.the 3rd time, they sent out a kit.the adjust is made of plastic and stress cracks after adjusting the harness over a period of time.the are at least 2 other references to this same problem in this database and they make the kit readily available so this is a well know problem. *nlm

I only have one base so i have to switch between cars depending on when my husband is home.i went shopping with my mother so i had to put the base in her car and when it came to moving it to the other car, i lifted the base and the whole adjuster piece came out.this is the second base i have received.about a month ago the same thing happened along with the strap on my daughters car seat not staying in place.i called evenflo and they sent me a whole new seat and base.i am very upset that this has happened twice now, and i am calling evenflo again tomorrow.

Dt:evenflo on my way position right child safety seat, dom 06/24/2000.the consumer stated the handle for the seat broke and the baby fell out.the baby was not secured in the seat.the handle went past were it snapped in.this did not happen in the vehicle.ithappened on september 21, 2005.the baby was taken to the doctorto check for injuries.

Dt:the plastic lock in the back of the car seat that holds the shoulder strap in place in the back broke right off.it broke july 11th, 2005 while the consumer was adjusting the straps. This is an evenflo on my way position right, model # 2111006p1, dom is 9-30-00.

We have an evenflo on my way position right travel system.the infant carrier harness strap tensioner box came right off the back of the seat while tightening the harness.this is the second time this happened.the first time was about five months after we purchased the seat and evenflo replaced the entire seat.this time just four months into using it for our daughter.this time evenflo refuses to pay for any repairs, but recommended we purchase the replacement part.

When one of the straps in the back were pulled to tighten the straps, the piece that holds the strap secure snapped off.the plastic broke where the screw was attached.

Child safety seat failure--outside of vehicle.a certified child passenger safety technician was checking my seat.when she tightened the harness, the harness retractor system broke completely off of the seat.she was not using excessive force.a plastic screw is all that was holding this element onto the shell of the seat.the screw was stripped and the entire element came off in her hands, rendering the seat useless.she replaced my seat with a convertible seat on-site so i could safely transport my daughter home.had this occurred in a crash, my daughter would have very likely been ejected from her seat and seriously injured or killed.the senior technician on duty at the site checked my seat and agreed that this failure was due to a problem with the seat, not excessive force.they encouraged me to file a complaint with nhtsa.i will also follow up with evenflo as a result of this failure.

I own an evenflo, on my way-position right v car seat, manufactured 10/16/00.the plastic harness adjustment box on the back of the seat broke and separated from the shell of the seat.when i contacted evenflo about a replacement part or seat, i was told that i needed to pay for the replacement part.evenflo stated that this problem would not affect the performance of the seat.i definitely disagree with this statement.with an unattached harness adjustment box, there is no way to tighten the harness, leaving the strap loose and compromising the safety of the seat and that of my child.my husband contacted evenflo a second time to express our dissatisfaction with their lack of concern, and was again told that we would have to pay for the replacement part.i recently visited a website, www.carseat.org, which listed this as a common problem with the evenflo product.since this safety issue is occurring frequently, i don't understand why evenflo is not responsible for a remedy.this is an obvious flaw in the design of the seat, which is putting the safety of children at risk.why am i, the consumer, responsible for paying to fix this error?

To whom it may concern, almost exactly 2 years ago, just before the birth of our first child, we purchased an evenflo on my way position right v car seat (model # 4471027 p1, manufacturing date 22 aug 01 as part of a travel system including a stroller and spare base.on friday the 13th of february while tightening the right side shoulder strap of the infant carrier the with my 7 week old daughter in the seat, to my alarm the adjuster lever and its housing almost completely separated from the seat (please see attached photos).up until now we have been very happy with this product, but i feel that for a safety product such as this to fail in this way after 2 years is unacceptable.i feel it is important that you be notified of this defect in manufacture as soon as possible in the hopes of averting the possibility of an infant being injured due to this type of failure.we are now in the unfortunate position of having to replace not only the infant carrier, but also the entire travel system and spare infant carrier base, as i understand that your new products are entirely incompatible with our stroller and car seat bases.i am writing this today as your consumer resource center is closed on weekends, but i will be following this up with a phone call to your company as well as to the national highway traffic safety administration and the auto safety hotline.i would appreciate that you give this situation you earliest possible attention via e-mail or by phone.thank you, bill cink342 pilgrim lanesouthington, ct 06489(860) 628-0528
