This is a test.

Car seat with inadequate tightening and loosening capabilities for child restraint harness. Pull strap to tighten/loosen gets stuck and will not allow user to tighten or loosen. Additionally, there are multiple elastic bands on car seat that pose a choking hazard to children. Item is eddie bauer 3 in 1 carseat model #22758-hid (which was not an option on your pull down menu) manufactured on 05/21/08.

I am a cps tech and i am very concerned about a infant car seat and base- eddie bauer caress infant langley car seat and delux infant car seat base. We have seen this seat twice in the last month and it is a poorly designed seat and base. It will not tighten and the slightest movement it comes loose. We had the highway patrol andtech from the sheriff dept there to help and they could not get this seat correctly installed.i spoke with the manufacturer in person 2 weeks ago at the life savers conference in austin, tx and told him of our concern and he just said they were aware and that a new design is in the process . This is a unacceptable seat and should be recalled asap before a child is seriously injured.

Please disregard this complaint as it is a test for the new deployment.

I have tried to install this car seat in 3 different cars with the help of local police dept and it cannot be tightened down enough for it to be safe in the event of an accident.base too large to attach to latch system or seatbelt use.also, seat seems very flimsy.

Consumer eddie bauer its travel system-mercer continuously turns over.

The contact owns a dorel juvenile group eddie bauer deluxe 3-in-1 22-740-mdi rearfacing infant seat.the seat was manufactured on december 1, 2004.while driving on the freeway, the contact heard her eighteen month old niece scream.she pulled over to the side of the road and found that the baby pulled the arm rest cover off, and her finger got stuck in a hole.the contact was unable to remove the baby 's finger from the hole.the baby was rushed to the emergency room.the infant seat had to be cut away from the baby's finger.as a result, her finger was swollen and changed colors.

The metal plate of the harness gets caught on a plastic ledge on the back of the seat. Model # 22768cbyt (eddie bauer, also affects cosco, alpha omega seats as they all have the same shell). You think it's tight but it may not be.cosco manufacturer # is 1-800-544-1108. Fyi: transport canada does not have a mandate to be able to recall products!!!the manufacturer has to agree. ( barbara bains is the transport canada representative, who is aware of the issue 1-800-333-0510). Apparently, the manufacturer in this case has stated it will not recall these seats because the manual states the user must ensure the harness is tightened. However, the consumer may not know that the plate is caught and think it's at the appropriate length when it is not, resulting in an unsecured child.when the child is forward facing, unless you jam your hand behind the seat and feel where the metal plate is there is no way to ensure the strap is tightened properly.no where in the manual does it state you have to do this to ensure the harness is secure. (nor should one have to to secure a harness!!)there is no possible visual check in the forward facing position. There is a false sense of security that the child is restrained merely by tugging on the straps to ensure all the slack it pulled and the harness is tightened.

Seat will not recline enough.baby's head was just hanging over held up with the chest strap.his face was red and i'm afraid that he would have been suffocated had i not taken him out when i did.i took the seat to health department to verify it was installed correctly, and it was.the instructions say to put a rolled towel under the front of the seat to help with reclining, but it was very unsteady when i did that.the seat was in a ford truck that has pretty flat seats so the recline function shouldn't have been a problem.i have 2 pictures of him in the seat with his head hanging forward.

Consumer complaint concerning the eddie bauer travel system does not properly secure infant. It was difficult to keep the car seat from shifting or tipping over. The seat did not latch onto the strollerin a safe manner.

I drove to my local police precinct to see if i had installed it correctly and they told me to get rid of it. When you make a turn or go over a bump the whole seat tips to the side. It does not stay securely in the seat and is definitely a danger. I do not know why there hasn't been a recall on it. Don't make my mistake, stay away from this product.

The eddie bauer travel system by cosco not listed in your choices. Model#22-630-mrc mfg: l#6 co10454 by dorel juvenille group and cosco.the base for the car seat is unsafe. It is to narrow and the seat tips over from side to side. We contacted cosco and they told us to not use the base or use a pool noodle. With out the base the car seat tips forward.my child is not safe in this seat. I have to hold the car seat when we make a turn. I took the seat and base to the local fire station and was told the base is unsafe. I was told by a sales person at the store i purchased the system she wouldnot sell this product to anyone and on their website there at 49 complaints along with pictures showing this product tipping. My child is unsafe and no one will help me.

My husband and i will be in contact with the local news stations regarding this issue. There is no type of warning that this seat "moves" while in the vehicle... You are talking about children's lives, after all. The side to side play that you are talking about is not minimal. The side to side play that you find acceptable should not be, when you are talking about life. I find it completely absurd that dorel juvenile group thinks the flip-up action of the car seat, which happens with minimal stress on the seat, is completely acceptable. Further, the side to side play that djg finds acceptable is ridiculous. While driving to work this morning, without a child in the seat, the seat slid more than 1" to the side. I was driving cautiously when this happened, after all it was during rush hour and did not get the chance to drive normal highway speeds. I would hate to have my child in this seat driving normal highway speeds and have to swerve to miss someone. This action will cause the car seat to tip over, literally!!!consumer relations <[email protected]> wrote:we have registered this car seat for you. The eddie bauer comfort infantcar seat consists of an infant car seat with convenient carry handle, and a low-profile stay-in-car base. This base can be effectively usedwith the vehicle's lap-only, lap/shoulder and latch systems. Inperforming our dynamic testing procedures during the development of this car seat and base, djg executed numerous tests that showed it both met and exceeded the fmvss213 standards. These results were further reinforced through testing by 3rd-party test facilities. As units found their way into the hands of consumers, we began toreceive some calls regarding movement of the stay-in-car base. Inparticular, it was felt by some consumers that there was too muchside-to-side "play" in the belt path area, and that the back-end of thebased tended to easily "flip-up".

Eddie bauer travel system base was loose when installed in vehicle.the consumer spoke with several representative at people at djg about this problem and ask for information on correcting it.none of the manufacturers suggestions worked.the consumer took the seat to a local hospital to get some assistance.two young ladies put towels under the base to level the base and tighten the seat belt as tight as possible.the next day the base was loose again.the consumer still has the seat in her possession (eddie bauer 22-630-bal, mfg - l#6c005767)*nar

How and when discovered = customer posted product safety compliant/review which prompted us to file a report. Don't buy this travel system!december 22, 2005; (memphis, tn) we bought this travel system 3 months before our baby was born. After using it for six weeks, we will be returning it to the store tomorrow. The main problem is that the car seat is not safe! we noticed some time ago that the car seat sways from side to side when turning our suv. Yesterday, i used the car seat in my car for the first time and the seat and base tipped over all the way with my six week old daughter in it. The base is too narrow to keep the carrier upright. Before this happened, i was already unhappy with the car seat because it is difficult to snap into the base and the stroller. Also, the car seat is smaller than most, and my daughter always looks so uncomfortable in it. I will not buy any eddie bauer brand baby products again. I would give this system a zero if it was an option here! we went to the manager of our local "babies r us" and she said she was a nationally certified car seat person (something like that) and she actually got in the back seat of our ford expedition, stood on the car seat base, and pulled on the latch belt with all she had to tighten it and possibly make it work. Even with all of her effort, it still would rock side to side! in our suv it would tilt side to side with each curve or turn. In our 4 door car it will actually turn over on a curve or turn. If possible i will post photos as proof. I have recently received the eddie bauer travel system model # 22-630-bal this is the most unsafe car seat that i have ever seen.the base does not fit properly in any vehicle and tips all over the place when driving.i have tried the base in 3 different vehicles and it works in none of them.if you read reviews for the system you will see there are over a 100 people out there with the same problem.i have notified dorel and am hoping for a response from them but feel that before a child is killed because of the safety issue here that this should be investigated. Not everyone has the money to purchase a new set when they see how unsafe this one is.i have taken my seat to a fire station to have it put in properly and even they say they would not put their children in it.*****the model # at the end is not correct there was not a option for the model that i have and it would not let me proceed without a # there, the correct model # is 22-630-bal****

How and when discovered = customer posted product safety compliant/review which prompted us to file a report:base needs to be recalled!!!! zero stars!!, january 21, 2006; (san jose, ca) the stroller and car seat...beautiful, stylish, lovely pattern and material but the base will kill your child! the base is too narrow, swings, tilts, back and forth with every turn the car makes. I am lucky that my son was not flipped over. Used one time and will never use it again. I do not recommend that you buy the car seat. The base needs to be recalled or someone's child will get hurt. I've written to cosco and eddie bauer asking them to re-evaluate the base model. I will also write to babies r us for them to access the safety of this base.product description:eddie bauer its travel system - mercer; upc: 044681016707; skn/item #: 187574; amazon.com asin: b000b0rp0masin url: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/b000b0rp0m/ref=sr_11_1/104-8490130-4244738?%5fencoding=utf8&v=glance.

This car seat is very unsafe!! more than once with my son in the seat with and without the base the car seat has tipped over onto its side. Not only does it turn over onto its side it moves around all of the time. I took it to the california highway patrol to see if maybe i had installed it incorrectly and they tried everything to make it secure and couldn't. They said it was a very dangerous and a possible hazard seat. They advised me to get another one and take it back. So i tried to take it back and babies r us told me that they don't know what to tell me and that i needed to go through eddie bauer to see if i could get my money back. I feel if they sell the product they should be responsible for the refund. I even had a receipt. So not only am a giving the car seat a bad review but also the store and their rude customer service. For your child's safety, do not purchase this travel system.

I bought the eddie bauer its travel system-lakemont, which consisted of the car seat, car seat base and stroller.while the actual car seat and stroller are fine, the base is impossible for anyone (even fire dept and police!) to install safely, as its design prevents it from staying secure and tight while in the proper position. Because it is too narrow and the base is rounded, i am able to completely flip the base out of the car's belt after it's installed, with the flick of a finger. There is not enough surface area that meets the back of the car's seat to hold this base in place. It is so narrow that it creates huge gaps between the latch connectors or the seat belt connectors and the base, allowing more than 1" of movement even when tightly installed.when you make a turn or go over a bump the whole seat tips to the side. It does not stay securely in the seat and is definitely a danger. I do not know why there hasn't been a recall on it.i bought this system thinking that i put a bit of money into it and trusted the name brand, i could not get the seat to stay secure it kept falling over to the side and even with a seat belt tightener it flopped forward. I took it to my local fire and police departments to see if maybe i had installed it incorrectly and they tried everything to make it secure and couldn't. They said it was a very dangerous and a possible hazardousseat.they advised me to get another one and take it back. I returned this system and explained to babies r us they need to remove it from their shelves and got a graco car seat and base which i am happy with.my child means the world to me and to look in your rear view mirror and see him tipped on his side breaks my heart, knowing if we had been in an accident he wouldn't be here with me now, he is 5 weeks old! please recall the car seat base or make cosco make a safer base for this system.i have made a complaint with cosco on 5/10/06 and haven't heard anything as of yet.

Note: the model infant seat is not listed on this web site. It is the 22-630-bal infant carrier base that this complaint addresses.i am a certified child safety seat technician and in attempting to install the new eddie bauer infant carrier base (part of the eddie bauer its travel system (ballard) available at babies r us), in the center rear seat position of a 2001 subaru outback, was unable to securely install the base of this seat according to manufacturer's instructions and standard nhtsa procedures. Once the seat was installed after placing full body weight (140 lbs) of pressure on the seat and pulling lap belt tight, the seat base moved a total of 5-6" side to side, due to the excess space between the seat belt connectors. (the same situation occurs in other vehicle types using latch connectors.) the base's belt path (same as latch path) is situated such that once installed, i was able to flip the base up with one finger and it came entirely out of the seat belt webbing. The seat belt was working properly.

The lady in charge of the check said she has never successfully put one of these seats into a car. The base is too round for most cars and will always be loose regardless of using the latch or seat belt. Luckily i was able to return it to get another stroller system i am just glad i did not put my newborn in the seat with it being so unsafe. Very disappointed in eddie bauer and it should be taken off the market.

Do not buy, april 3, 2006; not only did this car seat tip over on us, but also the screws came out of the carry bar becoming a potential choking hazard. It had been over ninety days since purchase from brus. I called 1-800-544-1108 and reported the problems. They offered me a different car seat. They have just asked that i fill out a destruction notice for the old one and send in pieces of the car seat that will fit in an envelope. The great thing is that they sent me the car seat via fed ex ground and i didn't have to provide them a credit card or anything. I should have it in the next couple of days. The customer service was wonderful. Just because of the customer service i will try to buy other products from the manafacturer.

Our infant son (4 weeks old) was resting in his eddie bauer infant car seat.the handle was in the upward position.when i picked the seat up to move it a matter of a couple feet the handle had not locked and the seat bottom fell completely downward, dumping my son on the tile floor.he was left with a bruised forehead.my wife alerted me that this same situation had happened to her a few days prior, but the baby was buckled in the car seat at the time, leaving him hanging from the belts.in other infant car seats i have owned (this is my 4th child) one of them being an eddie bauer car seat, the handles of the car seats had safety features that included a catch lock on the handle, and multiple locks.this particular model has only one lock, of which it doesn't work properly all the time and twice has resulted in unfavorable situations for my infant son.after reviewing the nhtsa website for filing this complaint, the model number is not on the list to choose from, so i am adding it to this description section.it is the deluxe 3 in one model with number 22-627 mttwith a manufacturing date of 7/16/07 gbib.updated 01/03/08. *lj

My husband and i are complaining about the eddie bauer alpha omega elite deluxe 3 in 1 infant/child car seat.the belt leading to the buckle is too short and our 1 year old baby's legs keep getting caught when we attempt to buckle him in.we have tried adjusting the buckle and though we are extremely cautious each time we buckle him in, there have been four occasions where his skin on his upper thigh has gotten caught, causing him severe pain and leaving a temporary mark on his leg.it's really horrible and i think we are going to have to buy a different car seat.we unfortunately did not keep the receipt.i would also like to add that our son is a bit under average in weight for his height so i have no idea how parents are dealing with this car seat if their child is on the heavier side.

The contact owned an eddie bauer deluxe 3-in-1 22-757-mrc child seat.the contact stated that the straps that connect to the buckle bruises her child's legs.she adjusted the straps and the buckle, but the bruising continued.the manufacturer was unable to assist.the failure type could not be determined.

The contact owns an eddie bauer deluxe 3-in-1 22-770.the contact stated that the child seat buckle pinched the child.the failure occurred only when the buckle was fastened.the child sustained bruising.the failure type was unknown.

The harness strap can't be tight and fit snugly when my son is in restraint.

There was a safety recall onmy child's safety seat. The manufacturers fix was short livedi continue to have the same problems with slippage of the safety harness . I have tried to deal with the manufacturerabout this on going problem to no avail.

The contact owns a dorel juvenile group deluxe 3-in-1 eddie bauer child restraint, model number 22-790-wpr, manufactured january 7, 2009. The contact stated that while the child was secured in the child restraint, he was able to loosen the harness. When the child moved around in the seat, the harness released independently. The contact stated that the release button was not secure and the child was also able to remove his shoulders from out of the harness. The seat was purchased early 2009.the manufacture was not contacted. The consumer stated the harness no longer properly restrained her son. Updated 12/03/10

Own thedeluxe 3-in1eddie bauer model cco46-wpr,date 10/20/10 and they had a recall but i have never received a notice and this was registered on line.child's head hangs done causing the face to get red and head and neck to hang when sleeping . I read their was a recall on this model and they would sent the right equipment to fix it but no one has ever sent a email or letter. I would like the correct items to fix this car seat.

The contact owns an eddie bauer alpha omega elite 3-in-1 22-755-blb child safety seat.the manufacturer sent one strap and a cheap tape.the contact was advised to cut the old harness and tape on the new one.she felt that this remedy was unsafe and did not know how the manufacturer could consider that as a proper solution.

The contact owns an eddie bauer deluxe 3-in-1 22-741-ati rearfacing infant seat.the manufactured date was september 13, 2007.the contact stated that the safety seat failed to adjust evenly.in addition, the harness was either too loose or too tight and was not securing the child properly.the child is able to maneuver around in the safety seat.the contact feels that this is a safety issue because the child is not restrained properly.the purchase date was unknown.

Harness adjustment difficult when child restraint is installed in vehicle due to the way harness "splitter plate" on underside of restraint "hangs up" on plastic edge of restraint, can become caught and won't adjust properly to fit child.potential for increased slack in harness system, false degree of snugness of harness as perceived by parent, or potential for difficult adjustment leading to non-use or sub optimal use and application of harness straps.

While driving (on 6 different occasions) the vehicle seat belt would come out of the seat belt guide on the booster seat.the first time i thought it was the way i placed the belt so every time after that i would double check that the belt was not twisted and was pulled snuggly against my daughter's body.well, each time i found after a little fidgeting (like pre-schoolers do) the belt would come out of the guide and either end up across her neck or mouth.i would pull over and fix it, and it would happen again.i called the carseat/booster seat manufacturer and they suggested sliding the seat over in the seat of my minivan, when i did that i told them it tilted the seat on an angle, they then assumed it must be a defect with my car's seat belt.i don't know which is at fault but since purchasing a new seat with a different design i have had no further incidents.

The contact owns an eddie bauer 3-in-1 rearfacing infant seat, model number 227-59-mtt.the child seat was manufactured on august 18, 2008.when the contact extended the straps, she noticed that they were tearing.the manufacturer was notified and will send replacement straps.the contact wants a new child seat because she feels that the replacement straps will not fit the seat correctly.the seat is only one year old; therefore, the failure should not have occurred. Updated 12/16/08 updated 12/19/08.
