Harness straps loosened and came out several times despite being installed correctly. There is no model # on anything. Its a dorel designer 22.

After seeing a video about a possible problem i checked our carseats. We have 2 alpha omega elites. One is ok the other has a problem. After you strap your child into the seat if the harness strap is too tight you can loosen it by pushing down a little button at the foot of the seat and then pulling on the harness straps. On my defected seat the straps do not tighten back up after doing this i can continue to pull the harness straps out without pushing the button. So lets say i strap my child into the carseat and the straps are too tight. I push the little button and pull on the harness strap to loosen them, get into the car and leave. If i were to have an accident the straps would not hold in my child against the force of the crash. I hope i explained this correctly.i cannot find a model number that matches the one on my seat for dorel or under alpha elite. The model number is 22-149.

Dt*:the contact stated the straps that tightened the harness on the child safety seat were wearing on the edges.the manufacturer was not contacted.the child safety seat was a djg alpha omega 3in1 22-151 bla.

- the contact owns a 2007 dorel juvenile group child restraint seat, alpha elite model number 22-534 -bdw.the contact observed when the child was properly secured facing forward in a "five-point booster" child restraint seat.unexpectedly, the shoulder belt mechanism unlatched without assistance.the child restraint seat was installed using the vehicle seat belt system.there were concerns of the safety risks involved.the contact is in the process of notifying the manufacturer of the safety concerns.the vehicle information was unavailable.

I have a infant car seat made by dorel juvenile group, model#22-630-bal mfg: l#6b017795 10/18/05 it has a base that no mater how tight you pull the seat belt, it moves so free across the seat and can easily be removed without undoing the seat belt. Also the car seat it self will not stay in the restraints very well, if you buckle the car seat in you can easily pick up on the front of the seat and it slides right out of the seat belt. I can tell if one of my cars flipped over in a accident the seat would fly around in the car freely. I have tried every way to make this seat work, and it just doesn't seem safe in any way. If you could look into this mater and let me know if maybe i am doing something wrong ( which i don't think i am)i looked for a recall but shows to have non.thank you.

This is a duplicate report...original report submitted as "vehicle complaint"4-2-14 [odi # 10576796]. I am a cpst reporting a dorel designer 22 infant seat that does not connect to the base. English is a second language for this family who visited my fitting station today. Basically the carrier will not connect to the base unless the carrier release bar (on the back of the carrier) issqueezed. I contacted dorel to see if they would like to have the seat sent back to them to determine what the problem might be. Thedorel representative discussed the problem with her supervisor and it was determined that returning the seat would not be necessary as this crs is no longer in production. Since the seat is less than 4 years old...my concern is that other designer 22 seats still in use may have a similar problem connecting to the base. I will hold the seat for 30 days in case nhtsa might be interested in looking at the problem further.

Seat can not be installed without base due to large gap due to slope inset for base. Suggested client return seat to store and purchase a different one.

2/20/2007. Dorel cosco juvenile 22-120-pol. Contact states that the harness webbing strectched and is defective at the frame. *mc

I purchased a new ***maxi cosi pria 70 convertible car seat*** (not designer 22; the pria 70 model is not available to choose from this site's dorel or maxi-cosi drop-down options). The harness had always been difficult to tighten in both rear and front facing positions, but leveraging the strap in the back of the seat while tightening made it manageable. However, something within the base caused enough friction against the strap to cause damage. Ultimately, the strap frayed at the edge within the base and made it impossible to secure the harness tightly. I contacted the company to submit a claim under their 2 year warranty.they did not initially respond.after more than two weeks, i informed them i would submit a complaint with the national highway traffic safety administration if they failed to respond in 48 hours.they contacted me immediately and replaced the car seat with a newer version after confirming destruction of the old seat.the harness on the new seat is also impossible to tighten without leveraging the rear strap, and i expect the same damage will occur with this version.

The straps on cosco infant seat model# 02-537-mbp twist easily.they are very flimsy and do not stay flat.the strap essentially becomes a rope.i have contacted the company, and they sent replacement straps but they became twisted after 2 uses.they are now offering me a refund for the seat.i am concerned about the ability of twisted straps to spread out crash loads on an infant's body.
