My child was involoved in a car accident 10/13/11, she was properly in her child seat, as a result from this car seat, she was burned from the straps and also suffered from abrasions to her c2 vertabrae of her spine! i will be contacting a lawyer if this issue can not be resolved any other way.

I have a cosco scenera carseat.i uninstalled it last week to clean the car. As i was getting ready to reinstall it i noticed the harness straps on the bottom had punctures and rips.this appears to have been caused by spikes on the bottom of the carseat.i called the manufacturer to complain about this on 3/25/09.i was told to leave a voicemail and someone would get back to me.i called again 3/27 and again 3/30.still no response.the carseat has been used infrequently for less than one year.it has only been used rear facing.

Cosco scenera car seatwhen the harness is fastened the straps can be loosened by tugging. They are not locked in place at any point.i have discontinued use of the seat and will be contacting dorel on the next business day, 2/22/10.

Inside leg injuries are sustained in the crotch area from toddler car seat harness and crotch latch device.injury results when harness fasteners are plugged into crotch restraint, pinching the inside of leg skin and meat.frequency of inside leg trauma may occur as often as each time a child is "buckled up" or occasionally (once a month or two).the consequences of inside leg trauma in the crotch area is severe pain and, in some instances, leaves bruising of various degrees.other than using extreme caution by parent or guardian, there is no correction available.

I have a cosco scenera convertible car seat that was manufactured on 3/26/08. The model # is 22120. It is in the front-facing position for a 2 yr. Old.i strapped my grandchild into the seat, but when we got to our destination, i was unable to release one side of the buckle plate. It took several minutes and play with the red button before it released. Later, i tried to see why this had happened and, after buckling the buckle plates, couldn't get either of them unlatched. They are still attached. This seat has been used less than a handful of times, and no food or drink was allowed in the seat. The child is two years old and well within the weight limit for this seat. In the case of an emergency, the child may not be able to be released in a timely manner. This is a very dangerous situation. I am wondering if others have had this problem? i am attempting to contact the company, but frankly, it has been very difficult.

Child can unbuckle the harness across chest. Happens very frequently and if involved in a car accident nothing is there to stop child from whipping forward and causing serious injury.

With this seat, the seat belt webbing can get caught on the pointy v-shaped notches on the underside of the seat.this occurs when the harness is unbuckled and goes slack.when the child is in the seat and you go to buckle the harness, the seat belt webbing can get caught on the points of the notches underneath.this can result in the parent thinking the harness is secure, when in fact the seat belt is on the points of the v-shaped notch, and not secured up against the underside of the seat.i noticed these points have caused some wear on the webbing of the seat belt, which may impact it's crash performance. I had previously noticed that the harness would seem like it was caught on something from time to time, but it was not until recently that i realized it was getting caught on the pointy notches, and yesterday i realized it had impacted the seat belt webbing.

I am a police officer, crash reconstructionist, and child seat technician. I was involved in investigating a serious injury crash in which a child was in a dorel juvenile group, scenera next convertible seat. The seat broke and failed to maintain its integrity. There was a very large crack down the side frame, and the entire back of the seat broke out from where the harness straps come through. I have never seen a child seat break even a fraction as much as this seat did, the seat and child were removed from the vehicle by paramedics prior to my seeing the seat. So i don't know any details beyond the fact it was installed forward facing at the time of the crash. *dt

The contact owns a cosco senera 43593650 09/26/11 child seat. The contact noticed her child was able to push the 5 point harness down and push her hands out of the harness. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The contact continued to use the child seat.

We were trying to get the baby out of the car seat.the main latch between the legs was stuck. We worked on it with a crying baby for 20 minutes, finally we had to cut the restraint to get her out of it.it still will not come open after taking the seat out of the car and working on it. Its a good thing there was not accident or fire emergency.

The latch assembly that holds the child in the car seat, won't release making it impossible to release the child from the car seat in a normal fashion.the latch has broken three times now, and has been repaired ( not replaced ) each time.the latch is currently broken from normal use, and is inoperable.if the vehicle had been in an accident or caught fire the child would not be able to be released from the seat, and could result in injury or death.i have noticed that no manufacturer is currently using this type of latch, as of this date.model # 22145-bvlcosco scenera smaufacturer date: 04/10/2008l#b060350.

The harness strap rubs on these plastic spikes on the bottom of the seat.it abrades the harness strap and once there is a large enough abrasion, it allows for the strap to actually get stuck on the spike, which doesn't allow for the harness straps to tighten properly.this doesn't happen due to misuse, all you need is a little bit of slack in the hip area of the harness for it to drop down under the seat and get stuck on these spikes.

Last year i bought a cosco scenera car seat.in the past few months, it has become increasingly difficult to adjust the straps, or to pull the straps even when i put my son in the seat. I recently took my seat out of the car and discovered the problem.in the back of the car seat, there are two plastic hook-like points which are designed to hold the strap in place.however, due to how short and sharp they are, the strap tends to catch on them.every time the child gets in and out of the seat, a little bit of slack is created in the strap, and it allows the strap to become caught on the points.when i pull the straps to adjust them, they catch on and rub against the points, and have over time become worn.i am concerned that the integrity of the straps has been compromised, and they may not hold up in an accident. It seems like the short sharp plastic points are a poor mechanism for holding the straps in place.i have some pictures which illustrate the problem, as well as a picture of the label on the seat which contains the manufacturer?s information.if you would like to see them, please let me know where they can be emailed.

It was may 8, 2009 i took my son to the babysitters, early that morning. Later on, i used the car seat again (my son was properly locked in) and when i arrived to my place i could not get my son out of the car seat,. The button that releases the bucket was suck. The buckle between the legs keeps getting stuck and it has taken upto 20 minutes to get it to release. The strap that goes over the shoulder where it connects in the back has come undone while my child was in the seat 2 times now about a week apart. I myself fixed the seat strap last night and again it is already undone with a 10 minute car ride.also the straps where you pull the one at the base to tighten the one on the shoulders is getting increasingly harder to pull. Cosco scenera car seatwhen the harness is fastened the straps can be loosened by tugging. They are not locked in place at any point.i have discontinued use of the seat and will be contacting dorel on the next business day, 2/22/10.

Straps on car seat do not adjust properly. While tightening straps, one side will tighten while the other side will remain loose. There is no way to make both sides equally as tight besides to take car seat out and adjust the straps from the back. Not safe at all. This happens very frequently ie., when loosening straps to fit over winter coat and then readjusting tightness.

Continual rubbing of the harness straps on the 2 sharp points on the bottom of the carseat are causing the harness belt to wear thin and weave separation to occur on two sections of the harness belt.

At a car seat check event with experienced cpsts, we found that the harness could loosen when buckled.we checked to be sure that the locking mechanism was fully engaged (not in the loosening position), but the harness could still release slack by pulling the harness at the child's shoulder.updated 07/26/11 updated 3/22/12
