Tether on the cosco vantage highback is very difficult to install. Instructions are not clear, and it is not user friendly. If you have any helpful hints in how to easily shorten the tether for installation in cars please let me know.the exact model is 22560-fsm manufactured 6/15/07why not use the tethers you install and pull to tighten like the cosco scenera 22120 fsm manufactured 6/18/07 these are much easier to install, very user friendly. Please help make instructions and installation easier for parents. It is hard enough teaching them to use these car seats correctly every time, but even harder when things are manufactured in such a way that even an expert can't them figure out.(related vehicle information: model year=2004, make=buick, model=lesabre).

I have a 2000 dodge ram truck.i have a high-back booster seat in the back for my child.the best spot for a child is the rear center seat, but you must have a lap and shoulder belt for a booster.the outboard spots in the back seat of my truck are both lap and shoulder belts.both rear outboard seats, are incorrect.the retractor is not an alr, elr, or a switchable, and they both have sliding latch plates - which mean that in the event of a crash or rapid deceleration the belts are not going to grip and stop any person from coming forward.the owners manual says that in the event of an emergency they will stop moving.i tested this out by driving and coming to a quick stop, and the two lap and shoulder belts in the rear never gripped.i don't know if this is a recall thing or if my truck just has broken back seat belts.please help.

Difficulty loosening and tightening harness due to a-lock angle on car seat.*mrthe a-lock was mounted at an angle on the seat which made it difficult to tighten or loosen the harness.the manufacturer was contacted and the seat was removed from service.

The child safety seat tipped over, when the vehicle made a turn.

I purchased a cosco summit booster carseat on the recommendation of consumer reports and i have grave concerns regarding the straps used to secure the child. The fabric is so thin it does not lie fly and folds in half going through the buckle guides. Beacuse it is not thick enough to lie flat, it is nearly impossible to pull the tab to get a tight fit. I find my child has a lot of movement -- enough to reach down and pull the release button. I have also found that, since the same fabric is used to hold the buckle assembly, it also does not lie flat and it twists around. On more than one occasion i have secured the buckle backwards, with the red release button facing into my child's crotch area. It is very difficult to release when this happens. I am very disappointed with the quality of the straps and fear many children are not being secured safely. There should be a higher standard used for this strap fabric. My britax carseat uses a much heavier fabric and has never had this problem. I must not that i have only had this carseat for 2 months, used as a back-up and already feel there are problems with the design.thank you.

We purchased an eddie bauer deluxe highback booster seat (dorel juvenile model 22800-chl) in september for my toddler (3 yrs). The harness is very difficult to tighten appropriately on him because it appears to catch on some part of the seat. As a result the harness is not properly tight around him. Icontacted the manufacturer about it, and they acknowledged that this issue exists but said that nothing can be done about it. They offered to refund our purchase price if we return the seat, but did not appear to have a solution that actually fixes the problem.

The contact stated that their child was able to get their finger into one of the slots were you raise the adjustment to the car seat and got their finger stuck. The contact had not spoken with the manufacturer. The seat was not replaced.

The cloth that goes over the seat shell comes easily disconnected from the top of the seat.this is where the seat belt hooks through to keep it off of the child's neck.when the cloth slips off the seat, the belt comes across the child's neck.there are two very small plastic clips that hold the cloth to the seat and these come off when the seat belt it tightened, and would easily come dislodged in any sort of accident. *la

I have grave concerns regarding the eddie bauer high back booster w/ latch car seats. I purchased the morgan eb high back booster w latch in august of 2002 for my sons 1st birthday. On june 29th of 2003 the chest clip broke. It will not latch which renders the car seat itself useless. I also have concerns regarding the straps themselves. They are so thin and no matter how tight i adjust them they are easy for my son to maneuver out of. The latch with the red button on the crotch area twists and he is able to push the red button..which i thought would be impossible. I have tried to contact cosco for a replacement chest clip but have been unable to get through to their customer service via phone or email. They are supposed to open at 7am eastern time. I've called several times at 7:30am and been told they were closed. I've called at other times and never been able to get through. I've emailed several times and never r'cvd a response. The car seat is also easily tipped. Its tight at first but after a few days driving it needs adjusting again. Poorly made! an accident waiting to happen.

Without warning the child safety seats five-point harness clip snapped off when the consumer was strapping the child into the seat. The consumer has made contact with the manufacturer.

Complaint received via e-mail."i want to report a failure of a crucial part of my child's car seat--eddie bauer high back booster with 5-point harness--cosco-manufactured in oct. 2001, purchased in spring 2002--model 02-880-mbp 10/30/2001two weeks ago the push button on the chest clip broke off, rendering the harness useless. This seat has not seen a whole lot of use, since i live in the country, and am not the "soccer mom" type (once a week on average). I complained to the manufacturer, and they promptly sent me a replacement clip in a plain envelope, nothing else enclosed (such as a letter or other acknowledgement of the problem, and what they might do to address the problem). I am concerned that they may do nothing. I cannot imagine that my seat (given it's low use) is the only seat with which this has happened. I shudder to think what might have happened should the button fail in a crash--or, less importantly, in the midst of a family vacation."

I filed a complaint several months ago about the cosco voyager with model number 02-452-wal.i never heard what come of my complaint. My complaint was about the shoulder belt positioner. You place the shoulder belt in the positoner to keep the belt off you child neck. Well when you put the shoulder belt in the positioner and your child moves the positioner keeps the shoulder belt from retracting like it's suppose to, causing the belt to remain loose instead of retracting like the seatbelt does. I tried it in different cars the results are the samewill i hear something about the results? *la

I use the eddie bauer cosco car seat/booster seat.the model is 22-861-gdc from 9/4/2002.when i use it as a booster seat for my 4 year old, the seat belt repeatedly comes out of the belt adjuster on the seat back.the gap is too wide and the seat belt comes right out of it while my child is in the seat.*la

I have a eddie bauer highback booster seat manufactured by cosco.when using it as a seat belt positioning car seat, the latch that keeps the seat belt in place does not work.i have to pull over several times since the seat belt comes out of the ring that is supposed to put it in place.it ends up that the seat belt is over my child's neck or worse yet, he puts it behind him.i think it would be a very unsafe situation if this happened right before i was in an accident and have consequently, stopped using the booster seat.it is not a safe situation.the other problem with this booster seat is when it's used as a five point harness, i can not tighten the belt adequately around my child.it gets tangled and is difficult to tighten.basically, i've got 5 car seats (to handle car pool) and this one was a total waste of money!*la

My son recently graduated to a booster seat.i purchased cosco traveler high back booster.my son fits all of the specifications for this booster seat.i installed it properly.my son was in the booster seat.as i was driving along the freeway my son dropped his book on the floor.he leaned forward to pick it up from the floor and the arm of the booster seat caused the seat belt button on the latch to depress, which thus unbuckled the seat belt and caused my son to fall out of his seat while reaching for his boot.the seat belt unbuckles every single time my son leans forward at all due to the "arm" of the booster seat.it is my opinion that in the event of an accident, the force of his body weight against the seat belt would cause the seat belt to unbuckle.thus the restraint would not be restraining him.

"cosco summit"child car seat. 22-260-bsc.dh4cd18608 , manufacture date: 11/10/043/27/05 crotch strap of the harness pulled out of the car seat while unbuckling the child from the seat.while refitting the strap it was observed that this strap relies on the retaining plate to remain in the horizontal position and flat against the underside of the seat.however there is no clip or other mechanism to maintain this orientation.if the harness is not fully tensioned or when the harness is unbuckled enough free play may develop in the crotch strap to permit the retaining plate to drop far enough away from the seat bottom allowing the plate orientate itself in the vertical position. In this position the strap can be easily pulled out of the seat.
