I purchased the alpha omega convertible car saet and the cosco commuter high back booster for my son. Both of these seats harness straps were constantly twisting andfolding over causing the straps to not fit securely unless removing and untangling everytime. Now that my son is of the weight and height to make these seats into booster seats i have discovered that they are not reccomended as boosters by consumer reports. The child could potentially slide in under the lap belt or lean forward causing slack in the belt. I am extremely disappointed in these seats as when i purchased them it was with the ability of having seats that would take my son up to eighty pounds. I as a single mother bought these seats which were top rated at the time so i would not have to buy another for myself or my mother who also transports my child when needed. Now i find myself having to purchase 2 more booster seats to assure my sons safety. I would like to see these seats recalled with a refund given as the straps twisting are a hazard and the false advertising these seats carry when stating they can become booster seats has caused me added expenses. Though i have put todays date as the incident date i have had nothing but problems since purhased in april of 2002. I have spoken to cosco and they stated they could send new straps. Why bother, it's the straps that are causing the problem. As for the newest problem, switching it to a booster seat they couldn't advise me on how to make it safer for my son, just follow the manufacturers instructions.

If you don't have a anchor bracket or latch anchors then it is impossible to attach it tightly to the car seat.when our daughter was sleeping her head constantly fell forwards. Somebody had to sit next to her and hold her head. How can this seat protect her head in case of a side impact?the edges of the belt are sharp and cut the skin of her neck.

Name of carseat: alpha-omega elite/deluxe 3-in-1. (purchased 9/06)after child is secured in seat & riding down the road..."and" falls asleep...his head falls uncomfortably forward as if even the shoulder restraints seem to be a possible choking hazard.he is facing the rear; however the chair is reclined to it's fullest position.it doesn't allow his head to stay in an upright position. The safety mirror isn't even usable to double check while driving to see if he's okay.do you have any suggestions to have this car seat repositioned?

The child seat reclining bar does not lock into position.

The car (costco alpha omega elite model # 22-155-bdf) seat when following manufacturers instruction can not be installed in the rearward facing direction correctly or safely in a 2005 dodge grand caravan sxt.no help available from the manufacturer.

During a car trip my 14 month old child was secured in the alpha omega 3 in 1 child restraint seat.he was in the back seat and my husband and i were in the front of the car.i turned to check on him and noticed that he had stuck his hand in a hole that is located on the arm rest area.this hole is covered with fabric, but he was able to slip his hand under the fabric and put his thumb in the hole.the hole is intended for an optional cup holder, but as he does not yet drink from a cup we did not install this.i tried to help him remove his thumb, but i was not able to get it out.we attempted to lubricate the thumb with lotion and this did not work either.my husband and i then decided to drive him to the emergency room.unfortunately we were stuck in traffic for over an hour and eventually got off the highway and called 911.an ambulance took my son to the emergency room where the staff used a cast cutter to free him from the car seat.his thumb had swollen, but was not dislocated or broken.thankfully no serious injury resulted from this incident, although my son and i were very distressed and my husband and i will now have to pay bills for the emergency services.i have to note here, that the model of this car seat is the alpha omega 3 in 1.it is manufactured by dorel, but this model is not an option under your child restraint model options so i selected an incorrect one (alpha elite) only because it was the most similar and i needed to select a name or i would not be allowed to proceed.

When exiting the vehicle harness (chest plate) broke when parent was attempting to remove child from child seat.no injury was reported at this time.

While buckled in his car seat my one year old son put his thumb in a hole designed in the car seat to hold a drink holder. As a result, his thumb was stuck and my wife and i had to grease his thumb to remove it from the seat. His hand was extremely swollen resulting in severe bruising and discomfort. I contacted the manufacturer of the car seat who initially told me to simply put a piece of tape on the seat. They stated that this is a common complaint. After talking with a supervisor three days later i was told that if i returned a signed document that they would be sending to me, mailed them certain pieces of the car seat (at my expense)and purchased another seat made by this manufacturer, they would send me a reimbursement check.at this time, i have still not received anything in the mail nor have i been able to replace the car seat.we are using a spare.

We have had a cosco/dorel - alpha omega car seat for 5 months and are going to be forced to replace it with a safer, properly constructed seat for our 11 month old.i am disgusted at the way the fastening straps twist and turn in all the components since new.too often i am forced to replace my son in his stroller in order to take out the car seat and untangle the webbing.today, i was unable to tighten his straps so he had a 2-3" gap on his shoulders from the webbing.obviously this is dangerous! we had to go immediately home.after some trouble. My husband was able to realign the webbing and make it functional for maybe the next couple of uses until it retangles.i encourage owners of this seat to get another one before they wish they did.i advise the makers of this seat to recall it and compensate all in full - before the lawsuits hit when these defects are harming someone!llw.

The contact owns a 2006 (na) dorel juvenile group alpha omega elite 22-158 (na) child seat.the contact stated that the buckle assembly on the latch connector has plastic bars.the bars mysteriously failed without any applied pressure.as a result, the webbing on the belt weakened the condition of the belt and enabled it to sporadically readjust itself.the child safety seat was in good condition and was never involved in a crash.the manufacturer has not been notified.

The springs popped out of the car seat.

Cosco alpha omega car seatmodel # 22-269-crk manufacture date 2/24/05. The shoulder straps feed through 2 molded plastic sleeves that guide the straps through the car seat body and over the metal height adjustment bar on the back of the car seat.these molded plastic sleeves have ridged semi-sharp edges on the back side.i began noticing a sound over the last few weeks when i would loosen the straps to take my daughter out of the car seat.when i removed the car seat to inspect it to find out what was causing the noise, i discovered that the straps had slid toward the middle of the car seat.the result was that the middle of each shoulder strap was now rubbing over the corner of the above mentioned molded plastic sleeve.upon inspection of the each shoulder strap there is a significant fray patch in the middle of each shoulder strap approximately 8 to 10 inches long.this fray patch has significantly impacted the intregrity of the entire shoulder strap.the damage to the shoulder straps was completely hidden until i removed the car seat from the vehicle.

- the contact stated that cosco alpha omega model# 22-151-bla, childseat has a hole on the left side of the arm rest.the contact stated that the child had 2 accidents with putting his finger into this hole and cutting himself.the contact stated that she contacted the manufacture r, and had to threaten them about callingthe hot linebefore they agreed to replacetheseats.the contact stated that she has 2 seats that will have to be replaced. Replace.the contact stated that the manufacturer informed her that she will have to mail in 1 seat at a time, and will have to cut the straps off the seats and remove the labels before sending the seats back to the manufacturer.the contact stated that the manufacturer will be sending different models of seats to the contact.

The harness straps are very flimsy.they twist no matter how many times you straighten them out and then they twist again.it may grow with your child but it certainly does not keep your child safe.due to the constant twisting, you cannot secure your child tightly in the seat.does the public have to wait until a child is seriously injured before recalling this product?at the very least cosco should provide a heavier strap.though i have entered the date i wrote this complaint as the incident date, this issue has been one for my family for a year now.

I am a police officer with mount pleasant police department in westchester county, new york. While attempting to install a cosco alpha omega, model# 22-155-hmr, in the rear facing position the car seat would shift out of the recline position anytime pressure was applied to the seat. I placed the seat in the fully reclined position, applied pressure to compress the vehicle seat, and the car seat would shift out of position. I was unable to install the seat properly due to the problem.

Dt*:the contact stated while the child was restrained in a safety seat, the child's left thumb became trapped inside the slot for a removable cup holder that attached to the seat.the contact attempted to remove the occupant's finger from the slot, but after several attempts the thumb could not be removed.the child inside the seat was transported to a local hospital where the safety seat was literally cut off of the occupant's thumb.minor injuries were sustained.the child safety seat was a cosco alpha omega, model # 22-151-bla; date of manufacture was nov. 14, 2005.the manufacturer was notified.

This is an excerpt of a letter i wrote to wal-mart supercenter #2309 regarding their unseating my child's car seat when changing the oil in my car. The day this occurred, it was raining like crazy in west chester, ohio. This simply compounded the huge mistake, risking the safety of my child. --after braving the downpour of rain, i open the passenger-side back door to put my toddler into his car seat. As i start to place my son into his rear-facing car seat, i realize that the seat is no longer secure. Upon closer inspection, the passenger seat in the front had been forcibly moved back (it is an electric seat and was already moved back as far as it could go with the rear-facing car seat behind it). The rear-facing car seat vehicle safety belt restraints had been loosened significantly and i was left in the pouring rain with my toddler son to try and re-seat and readjust the safety of the seat in order to leave the store property and return home.jacob, a manager, seemed empathetic, but was unwilling to take responsibility for the situation. He told me the package i purchased included a vacuum of the front seat floor which is why the seat was moved. As i told him, vacuum or not, unseating a child safety seat is irresponsible and but unacceptable.as a customer, i believe i shouldn't have to wonder after an oil change if i'm going to have to readjust and correctly place my child's safety seat back into my car. As i explained to jacob, my child's life was at risk. God forbid i had gotten into an accident on that very wet day; the seat may not have been correctly reseated - as my husband always installs the car seats for safety. Fortunately, i only live a few miles away from the store and made it home safely. However, does a child have to be injured or killed for the technicians to realize they can't make changes in the seating which unseats child safety car seats? does wal-mart need to realize that and what will be done in the future?

We purchased a cosco alpha omega car seat in july of 2002.we read the manual, watched the video and had the car seat installed by a certified technician at our local police station.we have had problems from the start with properly adjusting the shoulder straps .in order to tighten the straps you need to pull down from the bottom- which will also tighten the double buckle and it presses down on my sons groin area.the most important concern is now that my 18 month old son can wiggle out of the shoulder straps.i called the manufacturer several times to complain. I was told there are no recalls on this model.i have a friend with the same car seat experiencing the same problems.we took the car seat back to be re-inspected for proper installation and was again told that we are using the seat properly. There is no way to make the shoulder straps any tighter ( only able tomake the double buckle very tight and uncomfortable)i was advised to consider replacing the car seat if it happens again and to file a complaint with nhtsa. It continues to occur so we are currently buying a new car seat.*la

This is regarding a car seat, not a car (not sure if i'm at the right place).my 9 month old son was in the cosco alpha-omega convertible car seat - alpine blue.he stuck his thumb into an open hole on the left side of the car seat.his thumb got caught.this plastic hole has almost a fish hook effect and it was very difficult to pull his thumb out.he ended up pealing of some skin around the thumb, there was swelling and redness.no major injury.

My alpha omega all in one car seat purchased in december of 2008 is defective.the harness straps automatically loosen.there has been no accident or incident that could have caused this.i contacted the company who instructed me that there are no recalls and they have never heard of this happening before.then i began researching online only to find that cosco had a recall on the alpha omega carseats for the exact same thing in 2007!this issue has clearly not been resolved.thus my complaint.i had difficulty locating the correct model information on your drop down menus.this is a dorel juvenile group, inc.alpha omega.model # 22469-bse manufacture date 09/05/2008.that is the information that djg helped me locate when i called them.

I went to clean my daughter's car seat because she dropped some cheerios and when i lifted the arm of her car seat, the entire arm fell off.i called the company and they told me they would send me the pieces to put it back together.i have all the pieces and don't think it is safe to put back together.they also told me to just remove the arm and safety belt and just use the seat belt that is in the car.i don't think that is appropriate.i am afraid to use this car seat.it cost 149.99 and is now on sale at wal-mart's website for $128.88.i even went back to the wal-mart i bought it from and they refused to exchange it.this car seat is only about 10 months old.i think there is something wrong with the design if the arm can pop out so easily.i am just thankful, she wasn't in it and i was driving, because i don't know what would have happened.

Consumer complaint concerning child safety seat housing bar attached to base of the seat. Model #22-755-bgl.

The cosco alpha omega elite replacement car seat i received from dorel juvenile group inc. Is experiencing a loosing of the harness.the losing occurs gradually and results in the harness becoming loose around the child by the time i reach my destination.the previous car seat had the same issue.

I own two alpha omega car seats made by cosco. My son is pull up the silver relase to loosen the shoulder straps with his foot and manage to get out of the cae seat. This release is in between his legs where most children might be able to reach. It is unsafe to have a chid out of his carseat while you are trying to keep your eyes on the road. The two models we own were manufactured between 01/01/2001 and 08/01/2001, i have reported this to cosco with no avail if you could help me that would be wonderful. Thanks, kristina doran.

Cosco alpha omega eddie bauer 3-in-1 convertible child safety seat.

I attempted to install a cosco alpha-omega elite convertible child safety seat model number 22-155-hmr (manufactured 12/16/03 and 12/20/03) in two different vehicles (2003 honda pilot and 2004 honda accord) in acordance with the supplied instructions using the latch anchors and straps.the seats were to be installed in the rear-facing position for my infant daughter.when installed in accordance with the instructions, the seats were too upright and left the infant in an unsafe position.the instructions were unclear regarding the use of two "level lines" stamped on the side of the seat.when i attempted to use towels to level the seats to a safe position for the infant, the recline was so steep that the front seat on both vehicles had to be moved so far forward that the front seat passenger was now in an unsafe position (too close to the airbag).i contacted cosco consumer relations on 4/12/04 and was informed that the instructions supplied with the seats are incorrect with regard to the "level lines" and no attempt had been made to notify stores or purchasers of the issue.i was instructed by consumer relations to level the seat base and then put it into a fully reclined position to achieve a 45 degree angle.(this is not discussed anywhere in the instructions).however, due to the design of the seat, the seat base is not visible or accessible when installed, therefore it is impossible to determine if the base is levl or not.further, the instructions state to secure the unused top tether clip under the car seat when installed rear facing (no dummy mounting point is provided for this purpose)however, the consumer relations representative stated emphatically that this top tether must be removed before using the seat rear-facing.unfortunately, due to the design of the seat, the top tether cannot be removed.this seat, with the supplied instructions, cannot be installed safely.

In april 2004, i purchased a new alpha omega elite for my infant son who just grew out of his infant car seat.i installed the new seat rear facing with the latch system provided.the seat was in the full recline position and required 2 1/2 noodles to be properly reclined.when i got the latch belts tight enough that the seat did not wiggle, the recline slipped out of place such that the seat was no longer fully reclined.i thought perhaps i didn't have it completely in place so i repeated the installation, but continued to have problems.it took at least 3 times to get the seat to install tight enough without it slipping out of full recline.however, one time, it did slip out of recline while my child was in the seat and we were in transit!the next week i traveled to co and installed the seat, rear facing with a lap belt in a sedan.i had the same problem and had to reinstall twice.when we arrived back in wa from our trip, i called and complained to dorel juvenile group.they sent us a new alpha omega elite convertable and prepaid labels to send the first seat back to them.i installed the new seat and had the same problem only worse.in fact, this time it was so bad, that i couldn't get the recline handle to stay in place when the car seat was tightly installed.djg stated that they will refund my money for which i am grateful, but the customer service representative basically told me that i must be installing it incorrectly since it happened to me with two different seats.i disagree with her.i may install my seats tightly, but no car seat should fail in this way.i've never had any other convertable, including the predessor to the elite, slip out of recline.i feel this is a potential safety hazard and am concerned that because no one else has reported it to djg, they will not take it seriously.sincerely, janice e.o'toole, mother of 3 ages 4 1/2, 3, and 10 mos.

Cosco model # 02-3312ac, dom 03-29-2000;whileremoving child seat from vehicle noticed that springs on shield hand had popped out, causing to handle to break off if in an accident.

My 2-year-old can easily unbuckle the buckle on her cosco alpha omega car seat and often does.if we crash, it will not hold her in.

I am writing about my sons child safety seat, it is a cosco alpha omega car seat in the eddie bauer style.upon returning home today, my son pointed out that the chest buckle on his car seat was off.while checking the buckle i noticed that the piece that holds the two sides of the buckle together(it says push)broke .so now the chest buckle will not say closed at all and we feel it is unsafe to use without.*nlm

Dt:cosco alpha omega child seat. The child seat is a convertible seat.the upper latch on the five-point harness broke.this occurred on september 13,2005. The make of the child seat is cosco, with the model alpha omega, and the consumer is unsure of the exact manufacture build date.there have been no accidents as of yet.

We had a problem with a fairly new cosco eddie bauer car seat, manufactured by dorel juvenile group, model number 02537-mbp, purchased in late 2003.in february 2004, as i was buckling my son into the seat, a plastic tab on the upper (chest) buckle broke off.as a result, the upper buckle was not able to stay buckled, which seems very unsafe to me.i had no choice but to drive home with my son unbuckled.i called cosco to order a replacement part, and the phone operator at cosco asked me the model number of the seat and some other information.then she said, "ok, the cost of that part will be $3.73, can i have your credit card information please?"i had not yet told her what part i wanted to order!i concluded that she probably had been handling a lot of requests for this part, which indicates to me that it is a common problem.yet i am not aware of a recall for this part.the replacement part they sent to me was of a different design than the one that broke.a web search for cosco car seat problems turned up this document:http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml01/01119.htmlit is a press release from the consumer product safety commission, which describes the "largest fine against children's product manufacturer in cpsc's history", $1.75 million, levied against cosco.the reason?cosco apparently "failed to report product defects that caused serious injuries and deaths to children."needless to say, i'm afraid that perhaps cosco is once again failing to report a dangerous product.

Cotsco car seat straps cause problems.they constantly twist and it is very difficult to keep the 5 point harness where it is supposed to sit.when contacting cotsco they will send out new straps but they are the same kind and the same issue follows.i happen to have the eddie bauer one, but from talking to mom's it's a problem in almost all of their seats.

We own an eddie bauer cosco carseat (model #22-750-met) manufactured 8/10/02 at location "ao2c."one of two screws that secures the looped buckle strap to the underneath side of the plastic seat came out, allowing the bar to swivel on the intact screw and completely releasing the looped buckle strap.the strap holds the buckle that attaches to the latch and secures the child in place.because of the buckle strap coming loose, the child was not restrained.the screw must have out while we were driving, after we had secured our child.the buckle strap i am describing can be seen in picture 14c on page 14 of the instruction booklet # 4358-3056.we have additional concerns about the car seat's design, including how easily the belts twist where they go over the shoulder and also where they go through the slots in the top and bottom latch plates.this problem has made it difficult to tighten the straps adequately prior to the car seat failure described above.incident date was 1/5/03, but the site does not permit the new year.

There have been no consequences yet but my cosco alpha omega car seat has a latch that holds the two straps together above the chest of the baby that does not permanently stay attached especially with a child above two that is very curious. If it does not stay strapped then the whole purpose of the car seat does not perform as designed.

On the alpha omega carseat by cosco, it is not a safe booster seat.when you thread the car's seat belt through the notches that guide the seat belt across the child's chest, the notches do not allow the seat belt to retract back should the child lean forward.there are a large number of car seats that turn into booster seats that have this problem.consumer reports is aware of this problem and they advise against using these convertible car seats as a booster seat.this needs to be fixed.luckily my child was not injured because i found the problem before it was too late but i don't want others hurt because they are unaware of this problem.*la

Alpha omega elite--seat will not lock into recline position--required (according to manufacturer's instructions) for rear-facing installation. If i recline the seat, the handle appears to lock in place, even when looking under the seat...i.e. The bar is completely in the slots; however, if i barely put weight on the front of the seat, the seat falls forward, snapping into the original position. If my child is supposed to be at a 45 degree angle when rear-facing, how is it that this seat is safe if slight pressure causes the seat to fall forward? when i called the manufacturer, the representative told me that no one else had complained about this problem...but now, after reading others' comments, i learn that is untrue.

My complaint is for thecoscoalpha omega 3 in 1 child saftey seat, when used as a belt positioning booster seat, the seatbelt stays slacked out if my son reaches or leans forward.the seat belt does not retract after this.i feel that this is very dangerous.

Chest/positioning clip on cosco eddie bauer alpha omega child safety seat broke.the "push" button that clasps/unclasps snapped off during normal clasping process.went to babies r us, where purchased, to get replacement clasp.while they had suitable product, they also recommended we contact cosco because they said a lot of customers have reported same problem.no problem with cosco sending replacement clip, although we did have to pay shipping becuase our seat was out of warranty.sounds like this is a larger problem than our own seat, and i think we shouldn't have to pay shipping.i found at least 6 similar reports on nhtsa website search, there are probably many more unreported.i think nhtsa should work with cosco to issue recall/replacement and reimburse any shipping costs consumers incurred.

I would like a recall inspection performed on the cosco - alpha omega car seat.consumer report has refused to rate this model in the booster mode because they find it does not restrain a child.the belt positioning clip does not let the belt retract when the child leans foward. I can't understand why it has not been recalled as the car seat does not perform its vital function.i can only assume that since it has only been on the market for a few years, many of the consumers, like myself, purchased it to be used for their infant and have yet to be at the booster stage.please look into this matter.

We have a cosco alpha omega eddie bauer edition child safety seat.the model number is 02-537-mbp.while we were getting my son out of the safety seat tonight, the postitioning clip broke.the little button that has "push" printed on it just fell off in our hands.i have as yet been able to contact the manufacturer as they are closed.rl.

The child was able the take the harness out of the chest clip which caused wear and tear of the harness.the harness had to be replaced. *nlm

I have an eddie bauer edition alpha omega car seat manufactured by cosco. The plastic clip that locks in place over the child's chest broke while my child was riding in the car seat. I am concerned that the strength of the harness was compromised because of the weak clip, and my daughter would not have been secured by the harness in the event of a sudden impact. When the clip actually broke apart (due to nothing more than normal use) i contacted the manufacturer and was told by the representative that "she had heard of this happening before" and would send me a new redesigned harness clip. She said that under extreme heat conditions plastic clip can become weak and break.my car and car seat were never subjected to anything more than normal summer heat.my concern is that there are many consumers using this product who are unaware that this component of their car seat may be weakened and break at any time. It could break while the family is simply at the grocery store, leaving them with no safe way to get their child home, or it could happen in the event of an accident and result in injury to the child. The representative i spoke with told me that if the harness was tight enough, my child would have been properly restrained, and that the harness clip has nothing to do with the safety of the car seat.it may betrue that the car seat still meets the minimum safety requirements without the harness clip, but i purchased a five point car seat because i was told by several consumer agencies that the harness made a difference in the safety and performance of a car seat. Other consumers who purchased this car seat are also under the assumption that there is a purpose to the harness clip, and i am sure that they would like to be made aware that it can break unexpectedly and should be replaced. I would like to see the manufacturer send the redesigned replacement harness clips to all those whose car seats are currently equipped with the faulty clip.

Dt*: the contact stated the child safety seat's right latch buckle had fractured, after the vehicle was involved in a collision with another vehicle.when the right latch buckle fractured, it allowed the carseat to pitch forward.the occupants head impacted the rear of the front driver's seat causing a minor injury to the forehead.the contact suffered a broken wrist.a telephone pole was destroyed in the accident and a police report was taken.the manufacturer was not contacted.the child safety seat was a cosco. Model: alpha omega.

The contact owns a cosco alpha omega convertible child restraint, model number 22-469bse and manufactured july 9, 2008. The contact stated the retainer straps of the harness would not latch correctly. The manufacturer advised they had not received any similar complaints and advised the contact to mail the seat in for further inspection.

The contact owns a cosco alpha omega elite child seat.the contact stated that the buckle would become difficult to release when attempting to remove the child from the seat.she received a recall notice for nhtsa campaign id number 07c007000 (child seat: harness).the contact received the parts for the recall, but is still experiencing seat failure.the purchase and manufactured dates were unknown.

My convertible carseat has malfunctioned.i own a 5 point harness alpha omega by cosco.this car seat has problems with the latch that is located between the baby's legs.the latch has a locking device where one of the inserts has to be laid over the other before inserting it into the buckle.the buckle constantly sticks and at one point, yesterday, it took me over 15 minutes to get the buckle between my baby's legs undone.there is no other way to get the baby out of the seat without unlocking this buckle.i am afraid if there was an accident or a car fire, i would not be able to get my baby out and wanted to bring it to the attention of someone who could prevent any other child from being trapped in.

The chest snap on the consumer's cosco car seat does not lock.the latch slides and makes a click sound as if it's secured.when the buckled unlatched the straps moved nearly strangling the child. (serial number 4359-5306).

Problems with the alpha omega elite car seat.the attachment on the harness for the latch system jammed and got stuck incorrectly in the car( had to break it open).furthermore the seat was installed by a police officer trained to do so.they could not get it to fit in my car appropriately.i had to go buy another seat the next day.(from a different manufacturer)seat is made cheaply for the $160.00 price tag.

Dt*: the contact stated that the child safety seat's harness buckle would not unlatch.both shoulder straps were loosened to allow the child climb out of the seat with the straps still latched into the harness buckle.the child suffered red abrasions on boththighs.

The contact owns a cosco alpha omega elite 22-269 child seat.the contact felt that she should have received a new child seat instead of a repair kit concerning nhtsa campaign id number 07c007000 (harness).she does not feel comfortable making the repair and the manufacturer would not replace the child seat.there had been no failure to date.the purchase date and location in the vehicle were unknown.

Cosco alpha omega model # 22150bng manufactured 04 sep 2003webbing on center harness strap (coming between a child's legs) was frayed as if it was tearing.css was never involved in a crash.

The cosco alpha omega elite replacement car seat i received from dorel juvenile group inc. Is experiencing a loosing of the harness.the losing occurs gradually and results in the harness becoming loose around the child by the time i reach my destination.the previous car seat had the same issue.

-the contact stated that cosco alpha omega safety seat with model# 22-155 hmr harness was not safe.her 2 year oldwas able to unlock the harness on the safety seat.the contact stated that she constantly has to pull over to the side of the road and get out of thevehicle to go to back seat and lock child back into the harness.the contact stated that she has filed a complaint with the manufacturer, and they have offered to send her a new type of harness that the child can't get out.the consumer was sent a piece of plastic with no clips. Updated 03/19/07.

Recall replacement "repair kit", how can i be sure that this car seat will be safe for my child? really, come on does putting a plastic part at the end of a new strap fix it. I sure don't fill completely comfortable putting my child in it.

I was using my eddie bauer 3 in 1 car seat made by cosco and the plastic tab broke off on the latch thay secures his chest.

Cosco eddie bauer 3-in-1 carseat chest latch broke.

Cosco models # 22-150-grh and 02-531-alx; the tags peeledoff and consumer couldno longer read them.manufacturer was contacted, and stated that they could not give information on the car seatbecause they were not certain if those werethe correct model numbers.

This car seat straps are consstantly being tangled and makit very differcult to get a tight fit . My 1yr old daughter can move the chest buckle down and get her arms out. This can not be safe and after reading the number of complaints it can not be something i am doing . There for i am going to call the company and demand a replacement i have two of these car seats alpha omega and the eddie bauer.

Cosco alpha omegacar seat has very little padding on the spine, and t has caused a long standing bruise at the base of my babies spine. I was not sure what was causing it untill i realized that there was no padding on the back cushion of the car seat.something must be done.

Alpha omega.

Coscomodel # 02-332bar,the child seat shield right arm broke offand hung on the side of the seat, with the child restrained in it.manufacturer was contacted, but theirresponse was that the shield had nothing to do with the child restraint,it was only for decoration.

On 11-18-03, i contacted cosco in reference to a defect on my child's car seat.the springs that secure the arms of the shield to the car seat keep detaching.while i was speaking with the representative, she took my home phone number and pulled me up in their system.i have already complained to them once before, but i do not have a specific date, regarding this matter.their first response was to send mea set of replacement springs.they do not work.i feel that my child's safety is at risk at this point.i have put the springs back in several times but they keep coming out and since that is a major point of attachment it really concerns me that it may fail in a crash.the response i got from cosco today was that they would send me some more springs.i told them that i already replaced them once before.they told me these would fix the problem, as they did before.i told them that i would probably just have to buy another car seat and she said she would send me a replacement shield.i told her that there was nothing wrong with the shield or the springs but that it was a manufacturer's defect apparently.this has been ongoing for sometime now but it came to my attention again the date i have listed when i was removing the car seat from my vehicle.my sister in law had the same car seat as i have but i noticed that she had changed to a different one.she said the springs in hers were coming out too.on this date, i called my local ems office which has a paramedic that inspects car seats and is involved deeply with car seat safety.she told me that she has been informed of several problems with this particular car seat's shield attachment.she is the one that referred me to your website.i do not want my child or any other child hurt because of this problem.it is unsafe.the time that it takes to mail the springs along with the springs popping out unexpectedly really pose a danger to the children who depend on these seats for safety.*la

The strap on the car seat that tightens the harness is fraying very quickly. Over half of the strap is frayed. We have only had the car seat for 9 months.(related vehicle information: model year=2001, make=bmw, model=325i).

The crouch strap on our child safety seat (cosco/dorel alpha omega, model #02-531) came completely detached from seat while my child was restrained in seat on a car ride.when my husband went to remove my child from the seat at the end of the car ride, he found that the crouch strap was just lying in the seat with him. My son had apparently scooted down in the seat after the strap came loose and the hard plastic clip that attaches the two shoulder straps together at the chest (positioning clip), was up near his neck.if the car ride had gone on much longer, or he had wiggled any more, he would have been hanging by his neck from the car seat straps.not to mention the fact that the car seat had completely failed and in the event of an accident, he would have definitely been seriously injured or killed.upon further inspection and after removing the car seat from the car, we realized that the bar that holds the crouch strap onto the base of the seat had come loose and a screw was missing.it is unbelievable to us that this very important safety strap was attached by two screws that were not permanently affixed to the base!we have yet to find the missing screw and feel very lucky that our child wasn't hurt!*nlm

This car seat is a potential hazard and should be recalled. After a few uses, the straps get twisted and become hard to untangle. In a crash, the straps are less effective, and dangerous. The company will replace the straps, but this only solves the problem temporarily.

Harness on child seat is extremely flexible and seat belts do not retract properly in the seat.(nar)*la

Cosco model # 02-531 alx, dom 05-21-2001, consumer called complaining about havingchild seat harness problems.harness broke while the child was in the car seat. Manufacturer was not contacted at the time of this call.

The certified trainer was unable to tightened the tether strap to the desired tightness.*nlm

The shoulder strap became twisted and loosened and failed to secure the child in correctly.

I have 2 year old twins and bought two alpha omega car seats made by cosco and they are able to climb right out!*la

The consumer was very concerned because her 9 month old child was able to remove himself from the child safety seat while tightened securely (css info:cosco/02-232alx/02-01).*nlm

I am a cps tech and i checked a cr for a client at our fitting station. I spent 20 minutes trying to straighten out and correctly route the harness strap in a cosco alphaomeg 22150bnp mfg date 01/14/03. The harness strap webbing will not easily lay flat. It is so pliable that for day to day use of the car seat, the harness strap easily twists and/or folds.

This child safety seat has the exact same issue as so many other complaints. Shortly after using the seat for the first time, the harness twists completely around making it impossible to properly secure my child. Even after you untwisted it, it still has a tendency to come loose. Unless the harness is tightened to the point of making my child extremely uncomfortable, it comes loose. Cosco should be held accountable for this design flaw. I own another cosco seat, purchased 3 months later, and the harness is completely redesigned. I have never had a problem with this one. They should replace this harness just as an auto manufacturer is required to replace defective safety parts as a safety campaign. *nlm

I have the same complaint as many others.the straps are very flimsy and do become twisted constantly.i have had my husband disassemble the car seat many times to fix them especially after i tried to tighten the straps and as i was pulling as hard as i could, my hand accidentally slipped and whacked my poor 1 1/2 yr old in the face...... This situation should be rectified before a child is hurt the straps are twisted and cut into their skin and can slip off their shoulder in an accident.i will never buy cosco again.they do not make a quality product and eddie bauer is an idiot for endorsing their seat.

The cosco alpha omega car seat has straps that twist horribly.we've had the seat about a year now, and we are just about to replace it with another seat.the straps no longer lay flat and the buckle pieces are constantly turning around.the twisted straps are not safe and take forever to untangle each time you put the child in the car.we had two of this model but had to replace one of them -- we chose the britax marathon, which has sturdier straps that don't twist.

Child seat defect.*nlm

We have a cosco car seat, which has been used for approximately 2 years.last night when we put our son into the seat, we couldn't close the chest harness properly, as the release button had just broken off.this is very disturbing, as the car seat was rendered useless during an outing.this harness is also the only thing that holds our son into the seat.had it not broken off like it did, we would never have known that the unit was defective; and our son could have been seriously hurt in the event of an accident.*nlm

I have a cosco alpha omaga car seat for my daughter. The harness retainer clip broke as i was opening it to remove her from the seat. In speaking with a certified car seat technician i was told that they have not seen this before. I thought i should bring it to your attention.

The straps in the cosco alpha omega car seat are completely useless.they twist and twist and twist so bad, that you can not get asnug fit.it is very unsafe for our child.just this morning, i was trying desperately to try to make the straps tighter, and my hand gave way and i slugged my daughter in the cheek very hard.the straps twist in 3 spots:in the shoulder pad, in the middle clip, and again, in the puzzle lock system that locks into the seat.i've contacted cosco, and all they will do is replace the straps.only to happen again, i'm sure.it's funny they replace the straps, when it's the straps that are the problem!i want them to take this car seat back and give me a refund!!

The strap on the car seat that tightens the harness is fraying very quickly. Over half of the strap is frayed. We have only had the car seat for 9 months.(related vehicle information: model year=2001, make=bmw, model=325i).

I own a cosco alpha omega car seat that has a latch my child can remove. This allows my child to be able to remove the shoulder straps and get out of the car seat while it is moving. He is only 21 months old and should not be able to get out of the seat on his own. I visited a local babies r us and saw that the same car seat on display has a new latch type in which a child cannot remove it on their own. I called the manufacturer, cosco, and they said that they would only replace it if we bought the new clip. They proceeded to state that the child should understand not to try and get out of the seat on thier own. I have to disagree with this statement. I feel this product is not safe if it has the old style latch.the actual piece is called a" harness retainer" according to the user manual. This is the piece that holds the two shoulder straps together in the center of the childs chest to prevent them from being able to slide out of the seat.

The harness strap buckle assembly was very difficult to buckle. The child had to be in the child safety seat without being properly restrained. Please provide the child safety seat model number.

When exiting the vehicle harness (chest plate) broke when parent was attempting to remove child from child seat.no injury was reported at this time.

Straps on car seat are very twisted, no matter how many times you fix them. They will not stay on my 11 month old shoulders. This is the worst car seat i have ever bought. I thought that by buying the alpha omega it would be worth the extra money. I was wrong. This problem needs to be fixed before someone's child is injured or worse.

Cosco alpha omegacar seat has very little padding on the spine, and t has caused a long standing bruise at the base of my babies spine. I was not sure what was causing it untill i realized that there was no padding on the back cushion of the car seat.something must be done.

Consumer called complaining about having problems with a cosco alpha omega child seat. If the child leans forward to grab a toy, the seat belt will not retract it will get stuck on the positioning clip.the consumer contacted cosco and they told her not to use the seat as a booster in any vehicle that does not have locking seat belts.*nlm
