Consumer found a metal slide-type adjuster on a 2005 cosco alpha omega elite. The metal adjuster was not threaded or adjusted correctly. Label showed a different type of adjuster.

We purchased 6 of these seats, of which we intended on using 4 of them in the rear facing position.attempted to attach with the latch system.after a great deal of time spent going through the owners manual i havebeen unable to install the seatsin the rear position.the first and major concern is that the latch position belt is too short and when it is installed according to the manufactures directions in will squeeze the child in between the position belt and the harness.in my mind, this is a serious safety hazard.i contacted the manufacture and their solution is to cut the position belt.the other concern is that the latch belts are too short also.i tried to install into 2 2008 gm vehicles and due to the construction of the safety seat it requires a great deal of material to level it up.when it is leveled up the latch belts are not long enough to attach to the latch system.the manufacture has not been any help.(related vehicle information: model year=2008, make=chevorlet, model=k2500 hd crew cab).

I was called by this parent who has had the sameproblem with several of the same style car seats. I am a certified cps instructor and inspected this seat. The harness straps pulled forward even after they were adjusted. They could be pulled all the way, not just a several inches.this car seat doesn't meet the criteria for a repair kit due the date of manufacture, but it is having the same problems as the other recalled seats. This doesn't happen every time the child is in the seat, but it could happen at anytime, esp. If involved in a crash. The parent has had 5 of the same seats and they have all done the same thing. She doesn't remember all of the dates of manufacture but she needs another new seat and i don't think she will be buying the alpha omega elite again!!!

The contact owns a cosco alpha omega elite child seat.the contact received a recall notice in september of 2007 for the harness.she called the manufacturer three times to receive the repair kit.as of march 18, 2008, the contact has not received the kit.the manufactured date was unknown.there had been no failure to date. Updated 04/08/08.*ljthe consumer stated she received the repair kit in the mail on march 25, 2008. Updated

I purchased a cosco alpha omega elite seat and intended to use it in the rear-facing manor for my eight-month-old daughter. After thoroughly reading the manual and attempting to install it in my 2007 mercedes-benz gl, i was completely unsuccessful. My husband and i both were unable to tighten the latch belts sufficiently to prevent the seat from moving a considerable distance side-to-side. Therefore, i scheduled an appointment with a fitting specialist / inspector. Two fitting specialists / inspectors were also unable to secure this seat in my vehicle. I returned the seat to the store at which i purchased it and selected the britax marathon seat which is very, very easy to install.
