I have a cosco scenera carseat for my son.i bought it from walmart when he was roughly 9 months old or so.in the first week, i tried to tighten his straps and the harness gor snagged on a sharp protruding piece of plastic under the seat.there seems to be one on each side of the seat for the harness.this has happened quite a few times since i have purchased this seat, i am more careful now when tightening his harness because i am aware of the problem, but it has damaged the harness strap itself.the harness would probably snap in an accident, because it has significantly weakened at the point it got caught.

I noticed that the harness on my cosco scenera convertible car seat had two snags.i flipped the seat over and noticed two spikes on the underside of the seat.i believe that the harness got caught on them and caused the damage.i contacted dorel about the problem and they instructed me to email them pictures of the damage but as of yet nothing else was done to correct the problem.

I removed my daughters carseat to wash the cover.i inspected the shell and straps.i found the straps to be compromised with snags.i looked around on the carseat to see what might have caused this and found that the shell was made with "spikes" on the underside and the straps were getting snagged on them.from time to time i would notice it was difficult to adjust the straps but there was no indication that there was an obstruction because they would eventually adjust with additional effort.i purchased a new carseat without the spikes and have discontinued use of the old seat.i am also contacting the manufacturer of the old seat to report the problem and request a refund.it should be noted that i was unable to find my model number on your list.i listed the closest number i could find.however, my actual model number is 22123 for the scenera.

I didn't become aware of this problem until another car seat tech advised me of this happening to their car seat. I inspected mine to find similar damage.harness has snagged on the bottom of my cosco scenera car seat.there are "teeth" on the bottom of this car seat and it has caught and snagged the harness across the bottom on both sides, depending on where the harness was at the time of getting stuck. This car seat has been used both forward facing and rear facing.i contacted djg and they are sending me a replacement harness that should be strong enough to withstand snagging on the "teeth".child safety seat has not been involved in a crash.

I would like to report a possible design flaw and hazard with the cosco scenera 5pt model child restraint.model # 22120 btedom 12/12/2007i was removing the seat from my vehicle today to install it back into my husband's car when the vehicle belt got stuck on the crotch buckle.i removed the cover from the side of the seat to reach inside.at this time i noticed the harness webbing on the left side of the seat was a different color in the middle.it almost looked like a stripe.so, when i finally removed the seat from my van i was able to get a better look at the webbing. The harness webbing was actually torn through approximately 3 inches in length! it was unable to see the damage because it was the piece coming up from the bottom next to my son's left hip area.i flipped the seat over to inspect it in more detail to notice two jagged edges that caused the tear.i guess the design of these edges was to keep the harness webbing that runs under the shell in place and from slipping up toward the area were the crotch buckle slots are located.i took pictures with my digital camera.i did call dorel today june 5, 2008 at approximately 1pm about this issue.i was told "well, we will send you a new harness that is puncture proof for you and to send your old harness back to us in the pre-paid envelope."i'm sorry why all of the sudden did they design this 'puncture proof' harness?i believe there is a design flaw and you can clearly see it in the pictures i took.as a child passenger safety technician, i do not feel safe placing a new harness on this seat and using it again. I'm not going to take a chance with their 'puncture proof' harness. We are looking into purchasing another britax seat over the weekend. If someone would like to contact me via email i can forward pictures of the damage.
