When buckling my 2 year old into her graco comfortsport car seat the restraint fails to tighten on one of the shoulders. I then have to take her out and try to rethread the restraint harness which does not always work therefore she is not secure in the seat.
On 1/19/07, i attepted to raise the shoulder straps on my son's car seat.it was at this time that i realized the both sides of the eps foam had cracked off of the car seat.both of the side pieces that protect his head on either side had cracked.when i attempted to pull the seat cover from the seat both pieces of foam actually fell from the seat.when i call graco to complain the representative told me to wither tape the foam or use elmersglue to re-attach the foam back on to the seat.obviously i found this ridicoulous. When i purchased this seat i was told the foam was for saftey.now graco claims it is for comfort.the model # on the seat is 8639bev and the serial is 110504it wasn't listed as an option .

Graco comfortsport car seat. The rear attachment is a single point attachment for the shoulder straps. My daughters(17 months old) can open the chest clip on her graco comfortsport carseat. Model number 8439san 2003-07-02 manf date.this was purchased new, before she was born. Dt*: the contact stated that there is a problem with the two harness straps on the back of the child seat that were connected to the splitter plates.the webbing was routed through crotch buckle plate and sewn together incorrectly.the manufacturerand a certified child safety technician determined that the child seat be returned to the store where it was purchased. The contact owns a graco comfort sport 8637 azc model # 8c00tmb.the contact stated that the toddler was able to open the harness tab by pressing the button.the toddler was then able to climb out of the seat seven times with ease while the vehicle was in motion.the manufacturer stated that the close harness tab could be worn out.the seat was purchased approximately two weeks ago.
The two safety straps of the carseat that come down over the shoulders of the child do not remain even- the right side is always much more loose than the left side.this means that in an accident the right side of her body will be thrown forward because it is not being held back snugly.to try to fix this problem you must take the carseat out, adjust the straps, and then attach it back in your car- which is a pain.however, even when we get the straps even and put the carseat back in the car, the first time we use the seat again the straps become uneven.i called graco to report the problem.they said it was very common for this model of carseat to do this.they instructed me to periodically take the carseat out of the car, detach the straps from the splitter, get the straps even and put the carseat back in your car.this what we have been doing all along, but this should not be an issue we have to deal with!when does a busy family with kids have time to take out their carseat every few days and then put it back in again?how many parents don't ever readjust the straps and are endangering their children?besides, if the problem occurs at say a rest stop or the target parking lot, am i just supposed to expect my 1.5 yr old child to sit there unsupervised for 20 minutes while i proceed to take the carseat out, fix the straps and put it back in the car?we have a second carseat for our second car, a britax, and we do not have a similar problem.this program will not let me enter the correct model # for our seat.the model # is 8639cos.

I have a graco comfortsport car seat, model number 8636aer, manufacture date 02/25/05. It has an eps (energy absorbing) foam liner.i was putting my child in the seat and brushed up against the side of the seat and the foam snapped off. Since the foam is what absorbs energy in the event of a crash, i knew i needed to replace the seat. I purchased a new seat, but as i was looking, i noticed that the foam was loose on manydifferent brands of seats. Even slight pressure was enough to have the foam at a near breaking point. My concern is that the foam will break on other seats and the parents will continue to use the seat, even though it no longer provides the energy absorption protection that it should
