I was asked to check to see why a combi model 8097109 dated 9/2/10, would not latch into the base while in the car.i could not get it to snap in on the right side of the seat and base.i looked and could see the hook that is supposed to connect to the base was not out as it was on the other side therefore making it impossible to latch that side in.i was able to push the hook forward to latch it to the base but when it was removed from the base it was again not out and would not work.i replaced the seat with a different one and suggested she take the seat back to where she bought it.
Combi intl has voluntarily recalled their seats due to a mechanism failure. I was told by the company they will not take anymore complaints about a product until the recall is released. I am concerned because i believe there is another issue with the seats. I own two of the recalled seats: combi centre st 10-19-2006. When the car seat is removed or placed in the base, the handle/locking mechanism fails to release 95% of the time. Also, when trying to put the seat in or out of the base of the stroller the same issue remains. I am very nervous that this mechanism will not hold my child in case of an accident. When having my carseat installed recently the police department was shocked by the way the mechanism behaved/misbehaved.i believe someone should look into the safety of the seats and bases more clearly.
