Cpsc: the chicco next fit ix arrived with the latch attachment for the seat being stuck and unable tobe adjusted. I talked with a customer service rep on the monday following the seat's delivery butthe rep was not able to fix the problem. *dt*dtno vin available

Note!this website does not list the chicco nextfit as an option for complaint. This complaint is for the chicco nextfit convertible car seat.my 14 month old son rides rear facing in a chicco nextfit in my honda odyssey. The seat was manufactured in may 2013, purchased in june or july 2013 and installed in the first week of september 2013 by a certified car seat tech. On the way to school on 10-14-13, my daughter told me that my son had fuzz all over him. I pulled over and saw seat stuffing in my sons mouth, all over his belly and on his legs.after taking him out of the seat, i observed a hole in the thin underside of the seat cushion fabric about the size of his fist. He pulled this stuffing out very easily and even ingested some of it which resulted in a quick phone call to his pediatrician and the poison control center. This is a major flaw and a dangerous one that needs to be addressed immediately. I contacted chicco and they have agreed to send a replacement seat cover. However, the material on the underside of the seat cushion is a design problem. The fabric is very fragile and i am sure that he will just poke his finger through the mesh again and expose the fibrous stuffing.

The harness release button and plastic casing that surrounds the button completely broke off of my chicco nextfit convertible car seat, as i was tightening the harness to my child.leading up to this event, we had difficulty in loosening and tightening the harness, as well as difficulty with synching the first latch tether while installing the car seat.problems began after about 3 months of use. I took the seat immediately to babies r us and they replaced the seat even with no proof of purchase, because i felt this wasn't safe.(related vehicle information: model year=2012, make=volkswagen , model=touareg)

The plastic piece that holds the belt to tighten the harness on the nextfit car seat is not staying in place. Causing the button that releases the harness to not be able to be used. You are unable to release the straps of the car seat without the button functioning. I attempted to put the piece back in place. It would not stay snapped down. I contacted chicco and the seat was replaced.

Nextfit convertible car seat has a button to tighten/ loosen shoulder restraint straps, this button has gone loose and no longer tightens or loosens shoulder straps causing my child to not be secured safely. This is concerning just as my child isn't in a child restraint at all.

Cpsc:chicco nextfit car seat: consumer stated the latch on the car seat was broken. *sswhen the consumer went to remove her son from the car seat, she noticed two plastic pieces on the floor, and upon closely looking at them, she realized they werepieces from the car seat.due to the broken pieced, the belt was not holding the base in place and it was moving around easily.when the consumer went to remove the car seat from the vehicle, more plastic pieces continued to fall from the side safety latch. My 2 year old rides rear facing in a chicco nextfit and she was pressing with her feet on the vehicle seat and the headrest (which controls the height of the shoulder straps) of the nextfit shot up from its position to its highest setting making the shoulder straps near her ears. When this happened the straps loosened making her chest clip drop to her stomach. This failure during a crash would have resulted in my daughter being ejected from her seat.i contacted chicco and informed them of this failure. Chicco informed me thatthis was " impossible " and "the part you are requesting is notreplaceable or repairable." they did not request to look at the seat in person or gain more information to see if this was a safety hazard shared by their other seats.to be clear, the seat is not damaged, and has never been in an accident.

Cpsc i1690253a: child safety seat, the shoulder came from just below her shoulders and were tightened to pass the pinch test, the chest clip was on her chest at the height of her armpits, as per the manufactures instructions.bfthe consumer stated the shoulder straps were up by her daughter ears, and the straps were loosened to the point that the chest clip was on her stomach.model# 06 079319750070

While tightening my child into the seat, the strap release button came away from the frame of the seat. I was able to get him out by reaching into the seat and pushing the internal button. This is a chicco keyfit zip equinox.

Chest clip is easily opened prematurely by toddler while buckled into seat with one finger pushing on raised button.was told to distract child with toy or reward system but is really too young to understand safety ramifications. Told chicco would send a new clip of same styleto try and that the chest clip is only a precrash positioner and that europe does not use chest clips.have used other seats with chest clips and child has not been able to unbuckle until much older age when able to understand the need for staying buckled while driving.

This involves a chicco nexfit ix zip.we have had this seat for around 2 months.it was a replacement for our previous chicco nextfit zip that was in an accident.a few days ago, i noticed that after i buckled my daughter in rear-facing, her straps loosened.i panicked for a moment trying to figure out why it wouldn't tighten, and then i noticed that the button you press to loosen the harness, had half popped out.this is concerning because i have had the seat for only 2 months, and that button is what keeps my daughter safe?!?!i pushed the button back in and it worked again, but still.that little button seems like it could fail at any moment!!!

Harness adjustment strap came apart while tightening child into seat per instruction manual directions.plastic housing holding mechanism to seat base shows signs of plastic deformation due to general usage while tightening harness.car seat is unusable.warranty replacement has been requested of chicco and awaiting response. Images available.

While tightening the harness straps on the chicco nextfit car seat, the plastic harness tightening button popped out of socket, exposing a metal spring, which stabbed my hand. The plastic harness tightening button will no longer stay in socket, and makes it difficult to loosen and tighten the car seat fully. The car seat was in the rear facing position at the time of the incident.

Cpsc:the plastic portion that holds the strap that you tighten, the part that you have to release, has come completely out of now two chicco nextfit zips. We pulled to tighten the straps on my 20 month old and neither of us are the hulk or anything, but it made the entire casing come out two times. The first time we had chicco replace the seat. The second time, i'm done. There's no way something that would break with just the strength of me or my husband pulling on it would be able to withstand a crash. That's extremely worrisome to me. This is something that happened within months for the first seat and then days for the replacement.updated 01/24/17 ...updated 07/10/17

My two year old son can unclip the chest clip on the chicco nextfit car seat. We own 3 of these car seats and he is able to get out of all of them. This happens every time we are in the car with him. I did contact the company and they send me an email telling me how to keep my son in the car seat. The email is telling me how to control the behavior of the child. The company should be taking responsibility for the failure of their car seat and not telling me how to discipline my child for getting out of a car seat that he shouldn't be able to get out of in the first place.
