I used a mighty-tite seat belt tightener in conjunction with my century bravo car seat because the car seat kept slipping with my lap belt.i installed the mighty-tite in a very tight capacity, but double checked to make sure it was not "over-tight," as the manufacturer requested.apparently it was "over-tight," although there's no way to know what "over-tight" is.over time, the mighty-tite broke the adjustable base of my car seat.i don't know how long i was driving with a broken car base -- but clearly, this was a dangerous situation.i learned that the car base was broken after i removed the car seat to turn the car seat around from rear facing to forward facing.i think you should look into the mighty-tite product (made by sunshine kids, www.sunshinekidsjp.com 888-336-7909).apparently it can cause a dangerous situation.i carefully read the instructions for the mighty-tite and thought i was installing it correctly.i am a very intelligent woman (i attended harvard university).if i can make this mistake, after carefully reading the instructions, a lot of people are probably also making this mistake.thanks for looking into this.

What i am saying is that the strapsweren't attached at all to the back so that had we been in an accident therewould have been nothing restraining our daughter and she likely would havebeen killed. .....kerry, thank you for contacting graco. When the shoulder straps go the backof the seat, theyslide onto the metal splitter plate. This plate isattached to a strap that runs under the seat to the front. The strap is usedto tighten the shoulder straps. The open end of the splitter plate has aknob. The straps must be slid past this knob to keep the straps on theplate. If the straps are attached to the plate properly, they are difficultto remove manually, let alone slide off by themselves. When did you purchasethis seat? do your in-laws still have the seat?please include all correspondence when replying.thank you, karen - graco consumer services.

Tether became unlatched when adjusted harness on bravose 44623onycentury car seat while my 10-month-old daughter was restrained rear facing. *nlm

I am a cps technician/instructor, i checked these safety seats at a checkup event.the seats are convertible seats, being usedfor the correct weight/height child, two seats being used for twins.the splitter plate had torn holes in the harness webbing on both seats, mom stated it "somehow worked loose during use" and the harness webbing got stuck half way off of the splitter plate, causing the hook on the splitter plate to tear a hole in the webbing.this was the second set of harness straps, century had replaced the previous straps because of the same issue.on both seats the recline adjuster handle, broke while being adjusted to the fully upright position for forward facing use.mom was advised to purchase new combination seats, the children were 35 lbs. And to notify nhtsa of the problems.model number for both seats:44622mrf date of manufacture: 06/17/02 and 05/08/01.

Shoulder straps do not tighten or loosen properly.if the straps are installed at the highest adjustable level, the shoulder straps compress against the car's backseat and do not move properly.

When shoulder straps were used at the highest adjustable level, they did not properly loosen or tighten.*ph
