An airline company is loaning out outdated/ expired car seats.the airline company could not locate the bag containing my son's car seat and they provided us with a "loaner car seat" from their company.we arrived in atlanta airport at 2:30 am and were eager to get to our relatives home.my husband checked the car seat later that morning because the straps were not adjusting properly.he then saw that the car seat expired in december 2006.in the back of the car seat it reads "do not use this car seat after december 2006 ".i called the airline company to tell them that they are loaning out expired car seats and all of the customer representatives or agents stated they didn't know car seats expire.

This complaint is for a convertible type child car seat with a padded arm that folds down.the seat is a graco century accel, model 45600ljti accel oh se, manufacture date code 2003-04-.there was no accident or injuries.we noticed that the left side of the arm was loose and the bolt that secures the arm to the body of the seat had completed un-threaded itself.we immediately removed the seat and are now using a different one.we are in the process of sending the seat back to graco for inspection and possible replacement.we are concerned that the arm of the seat was not secure for some time before we noticed it and maybe it would not have performed adequately in the event of an accident.

Our car seat graco century model celestia 41420brn never locks into the base until we have traveled 6-10 miles down the road.regardless of how we wiggle shake push and shift the carrier, it never fully locks into the base until vibration and time have worked their magic on the situation.if we were involved in an accident in the first 5 miles of driving i estimate a 80-90 percent chance that my daughter will not stay attached to the base.the assembly is being replaced soon.

Dt: century accel dx, model # a-45700650.the consumer states while driving, her daughter was crying.when she turned around to see what was going on, she found the clip unlatched.this caused the overhead shield to come up and choke the child.she knows the clip did latch when she put the baby in the seat, she did hear it click.she had to call a family member to come and hold the seat together to get the child home.she took the seat out of the vehicle and shook it to make sure there was nothing in the seat that would have caused this.when she called graco they offered her a $20 rebate on a new seat.the seat was manufactured february 6, 2002.

My 22 month old had begun unclipping the chest latch on her child safety seat about two weeks ago.after several attempts of distracting her and disciplining her she proceeded to not only unlatch the chest plate of the seat but also wiggle out of the shoulder straps.we have a century accel model # a 45100sthnot sure of manufacture date because the sticker had chipped off.the lot number is 664351-01.her seat was not on the recalled list.on this day that she got out completely of the shoulder straps i made a phone call to the manufacturer.i asked if they were any child proof covers available to deter my child from unlatching her seat.she told me that child car seats are not child proof and that i must teach my child that it is dangerous to unlatch the seat.to me this is appalling!it takes time for a child to learn things and what happens during this learning process if we were to get in an accident??i believe that since car seats are made specifically for children of her age that they *should* be child proof!!how can they not be??my child is not exceptional, if she can get out of her car seat then i am certain other children can.and how on earth can they be safe if 1 1/2 year olds can get out??so my complaint is this.please make a law where it is pertinent for child safety seats to be child proof!how can they be child safety seats if a child can get out of them!also i would like to make a complaint about the stickers on this car seat.it is less than one year old.it has been in a tinted vehicle and all of the safety stickers are all folded up, melted and crumbled.i cannot even read the manufacturedate on the seat.some how these numbers need to be embedded into the seat to ensure the ability to check safety recalls.

Century model # 45600lji, dom 12-07-2002. The child was able to unlock himself/herself from the child seat harness buckle. Manufacturer was notified, but did not resolve the problem.the consumer had to purchase a new car seat.the car seat was less than i year old.

Dt*:the contact stated that the clip that holds the harness away from the neck of the child ripped out of the fabric of the child safety seat.the manufacturer was notified, but offered no recourse.

Century, model # 4560ljti, the child safety seat shield broke on the left side and detached from the seat.this occurred while driving with a child restrained in the child safety seat.
