I recently went to our local police department to have our child car seat check for an installation safety check. I was told that the car seat being used was not safe and should be replaced witha five point harness seat. We had been using a car seat that uses an overhead shield that when in place has a bar that should protect the child from injury. The police officer said that during an accident the bar in front of the child can cause head injury.can you tell if these car seats are indeed unsafe? i have checked the recall list and found nothing.graco - century products, model no.: a-45600mto, manufactured date: 2001 10 15, date of purchase: 12/16/2001.thank you for your time. *nlm
Consumer states that child safety seat arm that pulls down in front of child broke on the left side of the seat.
Century model # 449135vr, child was found unsecured since the latch was defective. Consumer put the child into the seat. Consumer had three of the same seats, andmanufacturer only offered a strap.
Century model 45600mt, dom 12-16-2000; harness buckle intermittently will not latch.
Thebuckle arm separated while driving which left the child unrestrained ( century child safety seat, model a45600mtemfg date feb/12/2002)
Consumer called complaining about the car seat having a recall and needed to be replaced and now century stated that is not and was also told that to ship the car seat back. Also stated that the security clip on the car seat does not work.ts
When taking the child out of the century convertible car seat, the owner noticed that the five-point harness clip did not hold the straps to the five-point harness. The consumer will make contact with the manufacturer.the manufacturer was contacted and informed the consumer that the clip needed to be replaced.no further assistance was offered.
Century.model # 45600ljti.the left arm of the car seat broke off during normal use.the seat was not abused or misused.
The consumer stated that the over the head shield arm broke off the child seat frame on one side.the seat was not dropped or misused. *nlm
Child safety seat leftshield arm broke off without excessive force being used. Child seat was occupied at the time.
The consumer contacted the dealer in advance to schedule appointment for recall remedy 03v077000 and verify that parts would be available.the dealer confirmed.on 05/15/03, consumer arrived for appointment was told would be approximately 1.5 hours.after 2 hours, consumer inquired as to status of remedy, the dealer advised that the were only able to fix 1 of the mirrors because did not have the parts for the second mirror.the dealer was also very rude not informing the customer when the needed part would arrive or how they would notify her.*nlm
