The click tight button on our 60 day old britax broke off thereby releasing the car seat from the seat belt and making it unusable
I have a britax marathon clicktigh. I put daughter in seat, loosened harness, buckled daughter in,,then tightened harness, pulled on harness to make sure tight, and harness loosened again. Harness adjustor button was stuck. I opened clicktight panel, pushed on adjustor button to free it, and things have been fine since. If someone didn't think to give the harness straps a final tug to make sure they were snug and the straps loosened while going down the road, in a crash, or by the child pulling on them, this would be a major safety problem. I reported to britax. They said they would make a note of it. The harness adjustor button should never be stuck. ...updated 07/30/15updated 9/23/15
My 1 year old son is able to losen and escape his britax marathon car seat using the harness release button. The two harness clips remain locked but because he losens the harness so much he is able to get out while i am driving. After researching online i was able to locate numerous complaints from other parents indicating their children are also able to reach the harness release button and escape. I have called britax and they simply indicate there is nothing they can do. 2 britax representatives have confirmed that they are aware of this issue but because this is not a "manufaturer's defect" they have no plans to redesign their carseats to make them safer. No one should have to lose a child just to prove this is a true issue that britax needs to fix. They need to correct this issue and make the button harder for children to reach.
Cpsc: i1430187a. Britax marathon 70. Consumer stated that while taking the car seat out to clean it, she noticed that one side where the waist strap belt attaches to the base of the seat, within the fabric was badly frayed. *ln the manufacturer sent her a replacement.
