New britax advocate cs 70.the bolt on the side of the seat fell out!the other bolt is loose. Apparently loose is ok by britax as there is some give needed to get to recline mode, but the bolt should not fall out. I feel there is a design flaw and that the other loose bolt is on its way to falling out, too. Britax might replace the seat but if it's a design flaw that does not solve the problem. Others have had this happen, too.

The side-impact plastic cushion on one side of my britax advocate convertible car seat broke and became detached from the seat. This restraint was installed rear-facing with the britax versatether and checked by a cps tech at my local fire station. It was never in an accident. I noticed this defect when one of my son's (i have twins) neared the rear facing weight limit and i went to turn his seat from rear-facing to forward facing. (this son was 34 pounds; the rear-facing weight limit on this seat is 35 pounds.) the plastic piece that attaches this side-impact cushion to the plastic shell was broken, and the hard plastic side-impact cushion was unattached but resting on the seat. If we had been in an accident, it would have detached in a fraction of a second. I have photos and can share them if needed. Britax asked me to send this advocate to them and is sending me an entirely new seat in its place. The company representative said britax no longer makes this version of the advocate, so she is sending me the latest advocate model, which she said is "better." she said britax does not have any plans for a recall but admitted that she has received other complaints about this piece breaking. I thought i'd report it here in case this requires a recall. I have twin boys. The other identical seat, purchased on the same day and installed in the same toyota sienna minivan, did not have this problem. I worry, however, that my other son's seat will malfunction in a similar way since it was made at the same time. Seat details are as follows:serial #e9l73n9002391, model e9l73n9, batch j000023207, manuf date 1/22/2010. I purchased the seats new last year.

One of the energy absorbing side impact protection foam fell off my grandson's britax advocate cs car seat.there was no misuse of the child restraint. It was taken off the carand brought in the airplane twice for my grandson to use.on the second airline trip, as my son-in-law was installing the car seat in the car rental, one of the side impact fomr just fell off.on closer inspection, the plastic tube insert to attach it to the restraint broke off completely.i am concerned on how well it is supposed to hold up in a crash.
