1. My husband buckled our 4 year old into her britax regent and gave a little tug on the harness to make sure it was fastened securely. 2.the hip plate came swinging out in his hand - the harness was buckled but the hip portion of the harness was completely free of the seat.we discontinued use of the seat immediately so it has not happened again.i called britax and they are sending me a new harness and adjustment pulley assembly.the seat has a dom of 2/13/07.i don't see how a new harness will make this never happen again as the harness didn't exactly fail.

I was recently installing my britax regent as directed. And used the carseat belt for my daughter who is now about 55 lbs. While installing i saw how if we were in an accident the gen 3 seat belt acceptor would fail when it made contact with her carseat. So my child would no longer be protected. In order to install her seat i had to twist the connector about 8-10 times to keep it as far away from the seat as possible. I twisted the connector until it could not twist any further. I am still do not want to have my child ride here but i have no other choice. I will be replacing the connector as soon as i can. I want to have daimler chrysler replace my seat belt connectors with either gen 2 or gen 4 connectors. All gen 3 seat belt connectors need to be recalled and replaced!note for below numbers. I have not been involved in a crash yet.

Britax revised the manual to the regent effective the middle of june.this new manual is extremely confusing.over and over it contradicts itself to the point where i, a certified child passenger safety technician, am not sure how to install the seat.for example, the section on the short belt path for latch says it must be used for children 40 - 80 lbs but then at the bottom of the page says latch can't be used over 48 lbs.so, which is it?then, it says the tether is recommended with a latch install.this goes on and on in this new revision and needs to be remedied.we already have a hard enough time training parents, with a manual like this, we are guaranteed to have many more seats used incorrectly.

My complaint is regarding the new britax regent manual (dated 06/07): http://www.britaxusa.net/support/regent_r2.pdf.pdf.itl states that the short route for latch is required for children 40-80 pounds (page 12).there is also a warning that latch should not be used for a child above 48 pounds (which is consistent with most vehicle manufacturer's recommendations).allowing latch up to 80 pounds could result is carseat failure if the vehicle manufacturer has not approved latch to that weight.another dangerous statement in this new manual is ""secure the child restraint with the versa tether, if available, or with a vehicle belt." (page 2), which implies that the carseat can be installed with the top tether alone.if parents follow these instructions, the carseat will not be safety secured in the vehicle.another discrepancy is the instruction to route the latch strap or seatbelt over the back of the harness when using the long belt path (pages 14, 17, and 18).a tightly installed carseat may have a harness that can not be tightened to properly fit the child, if this is followed.this manual also fails to clarify that the top tether is a requirement for any latch installation.it recommends using the tether when available to "improve installation", but does not acknowledge that latch is a system (lower anchors and tethers for children) that requires the use of the top tether.the manual lists when the tether is required and latch installations are not listed there (page 22).another error (page 18) is under the heading for lap belt installation long route: "figure a illustrates a typical short route lap belt installation", and it shows a picture of the long route.i am a certified child passenger safety technician, and i am disturbed by the contradictions and unsafe recommendations in this new manual.please look into this.i have never seen a child seat manual with so many potentially dangerous statements in it.

The contact owns a britax regent classic child restraint (model # e9l39c5).the contact stated that the base of the safety seat does not properly secure in his 2007 volkswagen passat station wagon or in his 2004 volkswagen passat.the manufacturer was contacted.the manufactured date was november 10, 2005.

I have issues with the buckle clicking into place properly and staying locked into position.

I have been told that the britax regent was crash tested with the tether.i am have also been told that the tether in most cars only holds 40 lbs.how then can my 80lb child be secured in the britax regent if the tether can only hold 40 lbs.?(related vehicle information: model year=2005, make=honda, model=pilot).

The contact stated owns a britax regent child safety seat.she stated that the harness on the child seat would twist.she also stated that the clip across the chest would stick.the manufacturer's date, model number, and the date of purchase was unavailable.

Problem getting the replacement cover*cwfor remedies that are no longer available, britax will replace the seat and they are also considering doing replacements en lieu of repair when the seat is beyond what they consider to be useful life.
