Dt*:the contact stated the child safety seat wobbled, while in or out of the vehicle.the manufacturer was alerted and determined although there was no visible damage, the internal reclining bar fractured.this was a britax wizard e9l0705 manufactured july 23, 2003.

Consumer was concerned about britax wizard child seat with a build in head rest. While driving the child head moved when making turns.

After being installed in my 2000 ford ranger,i noticed that the nuts holding the latch bars onto the child restraint were loose.i could take them off using just my finger very easily and the latch bars were very loose and easy to move.

Child gets his fingers stuck in the belt slots (next to his legs) in his britax wizard.

I was driving on the highway when my 21 mo old son began choking and turning red.i pulled over, unbuckled him quickly.after fingersweeping his mouth and throat i pulled out a black, sticky foam.after holding him and calming down for a few minutes i noticed more foam in the carseat and on the floor of the van.i buckled him back in his seat and began collecting the foam to throw it away, that's when i noticed he was pulling more out of the headrest of his britax wizard car seat.i notified britax as soon as i got home and i am still awaiting a call from someone in mgmt.i am, luckily, an rn and a child passenger safety technician.i believe this seat needs to be recalled now!

My almost 2 year old child can release the tension on the car seat strap, to the pointthat it is extremely dangerous.i called the company, and they have no fix for this. There have been no injuries, however in the event of a crash she would be thrown out of the seat, or strangled by the straps.

Britax wizard child restraint.buckle does not lock if right side is inserted into buckle before left side.

Britax wizard car seat model # e9l0762(serial no. E9l0762013161) batch : 505425, dom 03/13/04.problem buckle does not generallyhave an audible "click" when harness engages into buckle.harness found not to be engaged at end of trip on more than one occaision.

Consumer received britax recall letter, regarding the adjuster strap.consumer called the manufacturer, and they indicatedstill didnot havetheparts available to conduct recall repairs.however, they told her to buy a cheap child seat until they have the part available.

I purchased a britax wizard for my 2 1/2 year old in july.i recently noticed she figured out how to open the flap and loosen the belt which allows her to push forward, loosening the straps of the seat.she has done this on at least three occasions now.i thought the current recall kit would fix the problem but when i notified britax this morning they informed me that this would not fix the problem and that i would have to contact the retaileri insisted on getting a completely different seat and explained that it is likely my two year old isn't the only genius i think she is and other kids' lives could be at stake.the representative stated that the only thing she could do for me would be to send me the recall kit.as i am an attorney, i asked why the retailer would have to be called since the manufacturer would ultimately be responsible for replacing the item as it is clearly defective.the britax representative said she would have management return my call next week.i then phoned the retailer and informed him of the problem and he told me initially to call britax but then when i explained the concept of strict liability and the chain of liability he suddenly agreed to assist me.i am concerned about this product as i do not believe the current recall kit will fix the problem.i am insisting on a different britax car seat (and i am quite certain that i will get what i am asking for) but the public must be informed about this product since innocent children's lives are at stake.please assist.the retailer tells me millions of these seats have been sold.karyne t. -britax wizard car seat: the buckles keep unfastening!

We own a britax wizard car seat.my daughter is 23 months old.she can easily reach down and lift the velcro cover off the strap release lever and then lift the release.then she moves her shoulders forward as if to sit up and the result is that the straps are very loose!she has not yet leered to undo the chest clip or the actual buckle, but she frequently loosens the straps.very dangerous - and a design flaw in my opinion.please make consumers aware of this danger.

Dt:consumer says that her 18 month oldchild can completely loosen the child restraint. Child would still be in safety seat with strap on him, but the harness would be really loose. Child loosens harness by pulling up the child harness adjustment lever.

The britax wizard car seat has a design defect that allows very young children to easily loosen the straps on the seat.my 1 1/2 year old son easily reaches down and pulls up on the metal tab that loosens the strap.yesterday on 395 i looked back to see that he was no longer secure in the seat as he pulled the strap almost entirely out.i leaned back to grab the bottom of the strap to tighten it again, but this was extremely dangerous.we have 2 of these seats, and it's not a problem for our 4 year old.but children under 3 find this to be a game.i have reported this defect to britax and have asked fora "fix".we also own the britax roundabout; this seat has a button to release the strap and not the metal tab.a child cannot loosen the strap on the roundabout. Britax should review all seats which have the same system as the wizard.thank you.

The contact owns a 2003 britax e90742 (na) wizard child seat.when facing the child seat on the passenger side, the safety latch that holds the seat belt failed.the child was seated in the child seat when the failure occurred, but was unharmed.the seat was registered, but the manufacturer has not been notified.

Britax wizard model # e9l0742, dom 10/01/2003.the child is able to reach back and pull the head rest foam padding off the child seat.manufacturer was notified, but did not resolve the problem.

The britax wizard car seat is a choking hazzard!my 14 month old daughter is able to pull pieces of foam rubber from the side impact head protection piece of the car seat. I've sent a written complaint to britax with a photo of the rubber and they responded that, "...britax recommends that parents instruct children on correct behavior while seated in a child restraint..." unbelievable!!!!my daughter could have choked to death and because she's in the back seat, i wouldn't have even known it until i reached my destination.

We have a new britax wizard carseat. There is a release lever on the front, covered by a velcro cover, that when lifted will loosen the restraint's harness around the child. Our son was able to easily operate this lever while he was restrained in the carseat and we were driving!!!!!

The lever that loosens the latch on the car seat was defective.child was able to get out of the seat on her own while the vehicle was being driven.

The consumer calledbritax two months ago to receive a kit for the harness. However, she has not received the kit. She contacted britax and was told that they would send the kit whenever they got a chance, she then requested to speak to a supervisor and was told that she could not, and that she could leave her name and number, and a supervisor would call her back when they found the time. Please provide any further information.the consumer received the new harness in the beginning of november.*tc

I own one of the britax wizards that were recalled in early august.i contacted britax to be sent the new restraint and registered on their website so they could send me the new straps and they have not gotten here yet and it's november 1.i tried to register again thinking maybe i slipped through their system, but the website said that i was already registered, so they do have my information but i don't have the repair kit for my childseat.i bought the most expensive childseat on the market and it was recalled but they haven't done anything yet to ensure my child's safety. I think a reasonable amount of time has gone by so i am complaining.

About 8 months ago i bought a britax wizard car seat. Just yesterday 11/15/04 i noticed my 14 month old son could reach the lever pull up on it and lean forward to let himself loose. He can completely losen the harness. When i called britax about the problem they said the solution was that i had to teach my son to not touch the lever and that over time through re-enforcement he would learn not to let himself loose. I thought this was absurd since my son is only 14 months old and he doesnt understand. Then the customer service representative continued to tell me that it was common knowledge that children where letting themselves out of their carseats and all makes and models were having similar problems. I wanted to know if this was really true, because i don't think carseat manufaturers would be getting approval to sell their carseats it was a known fact that children could get out of them. Anyhow, she continued to tell me that it was my parenting skills that needed to change and not the car seat.
