I am a child safety seat technician and had a problem with a britax seat that i was attempting to install.i was attempting to install a britax roundabout seat in a 1999 ford windstar mini-van.the locking mechanism on the seat would not tighten allowing the seat to shift from side to side.because the seatbelts are emergency locking only, the seat would become very loose.

I bought the britax roundabout on a recommendation of more than one mommy friend.i tried it in my car, with my infant in it, and liked it and so did she.bought it.had it installed by local police station.the officer said he didn't like how there was too much room between the belly and the belt and also how the belt came out at her upper thighs instead of her hips.he said it wasn't safe.when i called britax to remedy the situation, they told me that their car seats were made for the 50th percentile on weight and height and that i should have tried the seat in the car and with her (i did!).my infant is the 90th percentile height and 75th or so weight(6 mos @17 lbs and @27 inches in height).they told me that there was nothing that they could do.that is how their car seats are manufactured.i bought britax because they are the top of the line, safest car seat.but how are they safe except for the 50th percentile?they should say somewhere that they are made for the 50th percentile so others with tall babies don't have this problem!also, it says my seat was manufactured in 2005 but there was no choice for that and also it didn't break or anything-yet-i just said it was unsafe, but there wasn't a choice for that.

I was using the britix's roundabout cars eat for my daughter since she as was born.she is now 2.5 years old.this seat has a weight limit of 40 lbs.my daughter is 30 lbs.she is able to push down the breast clip and wiggle her arms out of the car seat.when speaking to britix, they seemed not to care.i am not asking for anything, i just wanted parents to be informed.had my mother not been in the car i would have driven15 miles with my daughter only having her legs strap into the cars eat.i felt my complaint should be addressed by someone, before a child is killed.my daughter should not have been able to get out of the car seat ,and that i may have done something wrong.i thought maybe they were right until it happened two more times on6/25 and 6/27.i knew that i have done nothing wrong.thank you for your time in this matter.

During a routine cps checkup it was determined that the buckle mechanism failed to engage on this css under certain circumstances on this seat.

Britax roundabout convertible child safety seat had a defective driver's side latch connector.the latch connector on the roundabout would give a false lock on the vehicle's latch anchor.*mr(model# e9l0225)

On britax roundabout car seat manufactured mar 2002-impact foam padding has broken off twice during normal use. Company indicates this is normal breakage - yet this is part of the head protection on this seat in the event of a wreck.back part broke in aug 2003, left side broke dec 11, 2003 when removing the seat from the vehicle.

I am writing regarding the warning label sewn on the inside back of the britax roundabout car seat.i placed me child in the seat after getting out of a pool therefore he was not wearing a shirt.i had opened the windows and allowed the car to cool enough to get in.however, when i placed my 8 month old child in the seat he began screaming wildly.when i took him out of the seat he had a visible burn on his back in the shape of the no sign (circle with diagonal crossline) imprinted on his back.this is unacceptable.the fabric of anything a child is going to be placed in should not get so hot that a visible burn can be left on the child.there is no reason my child should have been burned by this label.car seats sit in the sun.we use every measure to block it out and keep the car cool in between rides. The fabric of this label must be changed so children are not burned by it.

After buying a britax roundabout convertable car seat the base started seperating, when contacting britax i was told it was due to not being properly installed. I explained to them that i had read through the instruction and then taken the car seat the the california highway patrol where they also checked the instructions and showed me how to install it. Britax seemed to be very aware of the problem but refused to replace the car seat.i have contacted them several times with no help.

Product: britax roundabout convertible child safety seatrestraint number: e900217serial number: e9002171993date of manufacture: november 9, 2000batch number: 500598while my 3 year old son was riding in the seat, the adjuster button on the car seat, which will release the harness if pressed, popped completely off during travel.the black plastic button had broken, releasing the tension on the spring inside. The black button actually flew across the inside of the vehicle.as a certified car seat technician since 1999, i knew to check the seat right away. Without the button present, there was no way to lock the harness tightly in place. We ended our travel quick that day i purchased a replacement seat right away.i have contacted britax to notify them and to order a replacement part. The response from britax was that thewarranty only lasts for one year after purchase, for any part. So, i will be paying about $8 for the part and shipping. (just a little annoying to me.)i have not seen any recalls regarding this item, and personally have not heard of any other complaints with the roundabout from other technicians.i'm worried that if i had not seen this part break, i may have continued traveling. Had we been involved in a crash my son would have been completely thrown forward and seriously injured.please address this concern, as i would not want any other children to be put at risk when using this product.sincerely, kristin goffmancertified technician instructor #i-0865(909) 358-7179riverside, ca.
