I have three britax marathon car seats purchased from buybuybaby in 2009. If the harness straps are loosened using one strap at a time, then the harness straps may become detached from the metal yoke located on the back of the child seat. This happened to two of them in the same day.

Nhtsa needs to mandate tougher safety tests for our children in care seat test requirements.

The built in seat belt lock off failed. When testing the seat, the seat having been installed in that manner for just 4 days, the locking clip failed to hold onto the belt and the seat belt slipped through the lock off. Marks were left on the seat belt from where the lock off failed to hold onto it.i took the seat out of the car and installed it by locking the seat belt. This was during a road trip. When we arrived at our destination, i recreated the failure two more times. The belt lock off will not lock the seat belt so the car seat is properly not secured into the car. The car seat manufacturer, britax, offered a replacement. They stated that it is common for parts to "wear and tear" even though i had virtually never used this part. It has not been replaced, i will continue using a locking belt or latch.

We recently installed our britax marathon car seat (manufacture date in 2008), and we discovered that while the straps do tighten, they do not tighten properly to secure our child in the seat. Only upon careful testing, did we realize our child was not safe in the seat. We called britax and they said they would not work with us because the one year warranty was up. This product is intended to be used for 6+ years.

My car seat from britax is hard to adjust for its harness.

Took car seats to pacific safety council to check proper installation of two car seats.technician found granddaughters seat (base) stuck in rear facing position.would not return to forward facing position.technician had seen issue before so we removed base, returned bar to proper position and attached car seat.this was done with my assistance.did not want child returning home in improperly installed car seat.called britax with problem andissue was not resolved.my concern is the safely of seat.is it going to pop back into rear facing position during an accident or prior?was there a change made in newer models (after 05)?if not recalled, were they aware of issue?
