I own a britax super elite child car seat that has a printed manufacturing date on it of 2/02.this seat was recently inspected and installed by our local police officers during an annual inspection that they hold at our park.the police informed me of the recall.despite sending a registration card to britax when i purchased this car seat, i never received the replacement harness system from the company.when i called the company to request the replacement harness system, i was told that they could not send it unless they had the serial number and model number from the seat.i was told that they were required by the nhtsa to obtain that information before they could send the recall kit to the consumer.unfortunately, the serial number and model number are located behind the seat.i cannot read them unless i de-install the seat.i cannot reinstall the seat, however, because i do not have the body weight or physical strength (it took two police officers to install it during the inspection).would you please confirm to me that you require britax to report the serial number and model number to you before they can send me the recall kit.by the way, i have offered to buy the recall kit from britax (which i am willing to do so as not to have to de-install a car seat that i cannot possibly re-install properly).please help!!

I have a may 1, 2001 britax super elite that is under the nhtsa recall for this seat.i had never received anything from britax re: the recall, and so i assumed i hadn't registered the seat.we hadn't used it for quite some time, but now need to, so i contacted britax to register the seat and get the repair kit. After providing my information, the customer service rep told me the seat was already registered.i asked why i hadn't gotten any recall info or repair kit. He said the manufacture date was showing as jan 2000.i told him the car seat said 5/1/2001, and in fact, they only started manufacturing them in spring 2001.he didn't seem the slightest bit concerned that i had not received notification for a recalled, registered seat, or that his system's information was wrong.i have to wonder how many other registered britax super elite owners have not been notified of the recall.8nm

I am concerned over the recent recall of the britax husky child restraint car seat.they have changed the instructions several times as to how to install the seat using a lap belt.compliance testing was done by nhtsa and the seat failed. My concern is thatthe discontinued super elite model which is the same shell as the husky has not been recalled. When i questioned britax as to why the super elite was able to still use the 'long' belt path with a lap belt and no recline bar, i was told that the seat is different and the long belt path should still be used.the only difference between the two seats is that the husky has a recline bar and the super elite doesn't - the shells are exactly the same.i believe a recall should be issued on the super elite as well.

Retainer clip was not holding properly, andharness strapsloosened. Manufacturer was notified.

Britax super elite, nhtsa recall campaign #05c004000britax provided "fix"--adjuster strap guide.as a cpst and owner of this cr, i cannot get the replacement part to work to correct the problem after repeated tries.other cpsts have also noted that this recall fix does not install properly

I have a britax super elite carseat.while lossening the straps to get my child in, the left side strap came off the brass holder and came through the slits in the seat, coming off entirely.additionally, these straps which are new (from a recent recall) are already frayed.my carseats are professionally installed by debra baer, the maryland expert and she suggested i contact you.when i called britax with this information they were not helpful at all and said it was probably a user error.they weren't even interested in taking a look at the seat,.
