The seat dose not clips in the base all the time, i did miss it a couple time, so i stopped using the base .

Britax companion infant car seat- the t-connector in the back (where the straps connect in the back of the seat) can unlatch. It seems most likely when you loosen it to put the child in (b/c the strap can easily detach from the restraint). This occurred when putting our son in the car seat and tightening the front, it came out. We hooked it in the back, but feel it is a very poor design. This occurred on a sunday, and we will call britax in the morning.

My 4 1/2 month old daughter was able to open the chest latch of her britax companion, and now, at 6 months, we must get a new seat because she does it every time we put her in it.i called britax regarding this and they sent me a new buckle, but it is no better than the old one.she opens it easily and likes to chew on it.my older daughter tells us as soon as she does it.it is a terrible design and should be removed from use for anyone.we were lucky that we never had this problem when our first daughter used it.

Numerous failure. Locking and unlocking seat to base. Ordered seat and base in june 2005. Had baby 4 weeks early in july. Had trouble locking seat to base over and over. Called britax and they informed me to call company i bought it from. Britax said there was nothing they could do except have me mail the both and they would repair. They said it could take months to repair. Did not have the time since i had an infant here. Contacted retail company. They immediately replaced seat and base even though i was past my 30 days. This time the seat has trouble unlocking and locking from the base. I have to try and jerk it out of the base, not good when infant is in the seat. Also, it will may a "click" sound when i am driving down the road. Leading me to believe even though it seemed to be locked in it wasn't. Hard to believe this is #1 on consumer reports for infant seats. I will eat the cost and buy a different seat.

I am a certified child passenger safety technician #t021839.recently i was installing a new britax companion infant seat for a pregnant woman.i noticed that the harness retainer clip was a piece of flimsy plastic, and the straps kept coming out during the installation process.i went to babies r us inlatham, ny to check on the companion seats that were on display.there was only one in the store, and the harness retainer clip was the same - flimsy, with the straps coming out as soon asmoved the clip.this clip neededto be replaced with a more substantial one that you sees in britax other models. If there was nothing holding the baby in the harness system, it wasa useless harness.

Britax companion infant car seat chest clip is unsafe.my 8 month old can unfasten the chest clip. I have contacted britax via usps and am awaiting a response as to a permanent correction.

Dt*:the contact stated the harness on the child seat loosens from the bottom of the seat all the way up the back.as a result, the child is unsecured in the seat.the contact further stated no broken parts were found and the manufacturer would not replace the entire seat.

At permanent fitting station where i work, i noted a bent retainer clip.when the harness is correctly snug, the locking tab of the clip is bending in toward the infant.it may not hold in the event of the crash, not to mention the discomfort to the infant in the chest area.i instructed mother of infant to contact britax, in hopes of a new clip.this seat was only used for 1 year with older sibling, and now for 7 weeks with infant passenger.the seat was well stored in between children as described by mother.for the quality of the seat and padding, a higher quality (2 piece) chest clip should be demanded!!!

The contact owns a 2007 britax companion e9l8069 rearfacing infant seat.the child seat has a plastic strip that is used as a harness.one side of the strip is supposed to catch onto another clip to secure the child.the strip does not fully attach to the correct clip, and the child is able to pull the strip completely off.as a result, the child is not safely secured in the seat.she called the manufacturer and was informed that any child could remove themself from the seat.the manufacturer stated that they would send a replacement clip, but not via overnight delivery.the contact believes that the clip should be sent overnight because her child has removed himself from the child seat three times within 15 minutes.
