I bought a britax marathon seat. After installing the seat (in the rear-facing position with the lap and shoulder belt) per the instructions, i gave the seat a good jolt to make sure it was secure. The clip that holds the lap and shoulder belt in place came undone. Completely unacceptable and unsafe. After some investigation, i realized that both of the user guides that came with my seat say something completely different than the user guide on britax's website.from my manualfrom my manuals: "note: always use lock-off closest to the vehicle buckle."from the on-line manual: "position both sections of seat belt through the rear facing lock-off farthest from the vehicle buckle..."which one do you believe. I truly feel that the safety of many children may be compromised if they receive the wrong instructions. If the latch comes undone, the shoulder belt can loosen and the seat is no longer secure.from the on-line manual: "position both sections of seat belt through the rear facing lock-off farthest from the vehicle buckle..."

In further observation, it appeared that one side of the disk was not in the dimple that would have allowed the disk to properly swivel and then turn in a track. Moderate force produced no results. I was using the car seat in a training with certified car seat technicians and had no intentions of ever using the seat with a child. No harm came to anyone. I returned the seat to the store where it was purchased and replaced it with one that worked properly. Coincidently, my seat was the second britax click tight seat to be returned that day with the same defect. I inspected the second seat myself.

This is a complaint about the safety of a child booster seat called starriser comfy manufactured by britax.due to the faulty design of this product, whenever a child sleeps while riding in this booster seat, any braking, even minor braking, causes a whiplashing effect.this booster seat does not protect a child from this danger at all and should be recalled.when the manufacturer was contacted about this problem, all they indicated was that this booster seat was not designed to prevent whiplash for children who were asleep.in the real world, all parents know that children do fall asleep on long commutes so i don't understand how their engineers could omit this fact in designing this product.again, this product is a definate safety hazard and should be recalled.

All boosters use the vehicles restraint system.my girls sleep in the vehicle and its only a matter of time before they fall asleep and literally fall out of the system designed to keep them sage. The sholder belt is attached and they are bent over resting in the center of the vehicle.if i get into and accident there is nothing that will hold them in their seats.the seats look secure when the child is first put in the restraint, but once they fall asleep it becomes a death trap!i have purchased three different seats with the same resut and have also put mu seats in the vehicle of friends and family with the same result.infant seats secure the child into a seat and the vehicle restraint system holds the seat in place.booster seatsrelie on the vehicle restraint system securing both the chils and the seat which is fine if the child is awake.booster seats are required by law in the state of rhode island good in theory but the reality is i havent found one that is as safe as an infant seat including the britax with the seat back.one of my britax star risers becomes detached from the base which means there is nothing hodling this child in her seat!

The britax parkway booster seat has an adjustable head rest which no longer stays in a locked position when raised.it droppedback to the lowest position when even the slightest amount of pressure was placed in it, including when my child leanedforward ,and there was tension on the seat belt.i called britax about this, and they said itwas not safe, and they will replace the seat free of charge.i knew of several other owners whohad this same problem, and britax agreed to replace their seats as well.

Consumer brought car seat in to a car seat check sponsored by the fire rescue and upon installing the seat it was noticed that the frame was separating from the top to the bottom parts by the recline adjuster bar.*jg(britax advantage f902228 manufactured 09-27-2001)

A brand new britax boulevard 70 had a screw missing.the screw was one of two responsible for holding the main part of the seat to the base of the seat.if it failed the child and seat would improperly act during a collision, likely resulting in injury or death.the parent contacted britax, who sent out a new seat and a shipping label for the old.

I bought a britax roundabout for my daughter in 2014. I bought it knowing i could use it with no problem until it expired, and splurged knowing that i was buying a good, reliable car seat. Boy was i wrong!! the hard foam on the side snapped in half! really? after a few years?? i proceed to call britax, and because my car seat "just ran out of warranty", i have to purchase the product. Unreal. "we would recommend that you replace it, but you can duct tape it and it will be fine". How am i going to want to put duct tape on my kids car seat and trust its performance?! they should be sending me a new seat with the money i am so disappointed with this company, and will warn my friends!and will never buy their brand again!

Britax roundabout model # 161 09s, dom 01- january-1998; reclining mechanism will no longer stay locked.

Britax advantage model e902228, dom8/20/2001; height adjuster cannot remain in locked position. Dealer has been contacted. Seat was purchased new.

Latch straps on the britax marathon child safety seat are not long enough to allow me to install the seat rear facing in my 2003 chevy trail blazer.extreme force must be used in order for the latch connectors to reach the latch anchors for forward facing installation.britax has acknowledged that this is a problem and they have changed the length of the straps on newly manufactured seats.however, they will not provide any help to those with earlier manufactured seats.according to the latch law effective 9/02, all child safety seats must be latch compliant.in my opinion, the two britax marathon seats that i own are in violation of this law because latch installation is impossible due to the length of the straps on the latch connectors.

This complaint is regarding my britax marathon car seat.i bought two of these car seats in november 02 (manufactured october 02).both have been very difficult to tighten the harness because the adjuster just does not work well.i called britax when i received these car seats and was told it was just a slightly different mechanism from other car seat adjusters, but was fine.i have asked for advice on how to get it to tighten, but nothing they suggest works.i personally feel that it is a safety issue because it is impossible to get the harness as tight as it should be.i have found out that many people who own these car seats are having problems with the harness.many people have called britax and gotten similar responses (basically being blown off by britax).we have now found out that britax is routing the harness differently through the adjuster (thus, the realized that the original method did not work as it was supposed to).i have called britax numerous times only to be told that routing it either way is fine.they obviously realized there was a problem, so how can either way be fine?i personally don't think it is fine since it puts a child's life in hands should you not be able to properly tighten the harness. Since i haven't been able to make any headway with britax, i have decided to report the problem directly to nhtsa.i feel that this "older routing" of the harness on the britax marathon car-seats creates a safety issue.britax is still not willing to accept that it is (i guess they don't want to have to pay the money to fix everyone's seats).i suppose if nhtsa gets enough safety complaints regarding this, they could possibly cause britax to address the situation. *nlm

Harness strap adjuster is fraying, making strap stick and the harness strap does not tighten properly, manufacturer issued consumer another car seat. (roundabout)

Recall 161-175 consumer was sent a repair kit by britax to repair the shell, now consumer has to take out the seat everytime to buckle seat in.

The harness adjuster on britax marathon convertible car seat does not function properly which could allow a child to be improperly secured in the restraint. It appears that some of the harness adjuster straps on britax marathon's were routed improperly causing the harness to be extremely difficult to adjust.britax has said the adjuster is certified to work properly when the strap is routed both over and under the plastic ridge behind the adjuster mechanism.however, in seats with the strap routed over the plastic, the harness appears to catch on the ridges and eventually i believe this will lead to fraying of the adjuster strap.on many of these seats with the strap routed over the plastic ridges, the harness straps are nearly impossible to secure tightly around a child.owner's of these seats have contacted britax numerous times and are told that nothing will be done to correct this problem.since the early production of these seats (fall 2002), britax has "standardized" the way they route the adjuster (now under the plastic ridges) but they are unwilling to provide any assistance to owner's of seats with adjuster straps routed over the plastic ridges.
