The round-a-bad child safety seat locking clip are all broken and will not work.

I received a seat (britax marathon) with the date of manufacture listed as november 19, 2003.however, the seat was shipped to me on november 18, 2003.the dom is obviously incorrect--which could cause problems with recall information later. *la

The buckle on the seat fails to stay buckled. My son was riding in the seat rear facing when i hit the brakes going 35mph to avoid a collision. The next thing i know my son is screaming my head hurts my head hurts. So i pull into the nearest driveway to find out why he is crying only to find him with the bottom buckle unbuckled (which he is physically incapable of undoing himself) with his butt where his feet should have been and his head where his butt should be. The chest clip stayed buckled and was the only thing keeping him in that seat. Except for it was lodged in his throat. He was essentially hanging from the chest clip and harness being strangled by it. So i re-buckled him after calming him down and drove him to the nearest er. After we left there i put him back in the seat and pulled on the buckle after hearing it click to ensure it was buckled, to only have it slide out on it's own under mild force. So i put him in his brother's seat for the ride home since his brother was not with us. He had bruising and swelling internally and externally on his neck, but luckily nothing else. Yes the seat was installed correctly and buckled and tightened correctly when this happened. I am a cpst, so i know it was a seat failure not a user error.it is model of britax marathon 70 e9bb11q since i could find it in the model listing.

The britax boulevard clicktight seat (dom 02/2015) was shipped with the harness straps nested on the yoke incorrectly. The manual clearly states (and displays) that the left strap loop should nest inside the right strap loop, and then be hooked onto the yoke. This seat arrived with the right strap loop nested into the left strap loop. Complaints of straps not tightening correctly have been mentioned and led to parents checking the yoke and nesting of straps. (please note: this seat is not listed in the nhtsa complaint database, i've noticed the newer clicktight seats are just categorized under the manuf: britax seat:britax.

Britax model 161-27, dom 09-07-1999; locking clips on both sides that came with child safety seat would come loose during use, allowing movement ofseat, store where seat was purchased was contacted andlocking clips were replaced by the store.

Britax boulevard lock off- in installation of child restraint - the lock off of this restraint would not stay locked, crs rear facing states in the instructions that seat belt must be locked off farthest away from buckle-we could not follow the instructions since lock off did not function correctly.

The consumer requested the replacement straps offered in the recent recall but still hasn't received them. *tc

Britax model # e9l0605, dom08/01/2003. Consumer received recall notice 04c002000.however, no parts were available.

I am not filing a complaint because of an incident, crash or injury. I believe the britax 90 frontier booster car seat manufactured in 2013 with the clicktight installation system has a design flaw.when installed properly in the car, using the instructions provided by britax, as well as calls and e-mails to britax to ensure proper installation, the straps will not tighten on a child while the child is seated in the car seat.while the child is not sitting in the car seat, the straps tighten easily. Frontier 90 - e9lh31abatch: job 0001726serial: e9lh31a014716 manufactured 09/2013 i am including dec 27, 2013 as the "incident" date because it appears it is mandatory to continue with this complaint. Dec 27 2013 is the date britax received the car seat back into their facility.

The britax frontier splitter plate allows the harness to slip off when repeatedly loosening and tightening the harness to its biggest capacity when tugging on one of the shoulder straps.i heard about this problem on the car-seat.org forums and went to get my seat to replicate the problem.i pulled on the right strap (the child's left shoulder strap) as far as it would loosen, then tightened as tight as it would go w/ the pull tighten strap 4 times and after the 4th try, the harness on the opposite side fell right off the splitter plate.this should be considered a defect and the seat should be recalled.

I have a britax marathon carseat. The manual that came with the seat says to use the lock-off closest to the vehicle buckle when installing the carseat rear-facing with a lap-shoulder belt. However, the manual online says to use the lock-off farthest from the vehicle buckle. The online manual is correct, according to britax. Yet they have not sent any notice out to the owners of the seats. I feel that this is dangerous and that people will be incorrectly installing their seats without this vital information. Not everyone has access to the internet to find this out for themselves.

One of the two bolts connecting our marathon 70 car seat to the base just fell out on its own. The car seat is a e9lb12u britax marathon 70 convertible "allison". Apparently this is a common problem as i found reports on google. I could not find this model in the drop down menu.

This is a britax marathon g-4 model e9lq91q.the chest clip does not always engage readily. It gets stuck, so it looks like it's closed, but it can be pulled apart with force. Only a matter of time til someone thinks they've properly closed it, but find out in an accident that the chest clip popped open and did not restrain the child.

Britax wizard model # e9l07. Consumer called britax, and was told that they lost information of consumer's that own the child seats that were recalled.consumer had two seats that needed replacement.

Consumer states while removing the child safety seat from one vehicle to another the recliner axle bolt broke.causeunknown.

The manual for the britax convertible seats is very confusing as it states that the seat is outgrown when the weight limit is reached or the top of the ears are even with the top of the shell.there is no mention of shoulder height vs. Harness slot height, yet britax says that too is a way the seat is outgrown.this is misleading and could easily lead to children who have outgrown the seat being left in it.

I've been seeing articles pointing out how wearing winter jackets in car seats makes them unsafe since in an accident the jackets can compress and the child can be ejected. Car seat manufacturers need to meet safety standards with winter jackets. This should qualify as a recall. The proposed solution in the articles is to take off your child's jacket before buckling them in. This would mean every day every time. This is a very dangerous requirement. It has been below 10 quite a lot recently.we are currently headed into a deep freeze where highs will be below -10, that is negative 10.with windchills in the35 to 65 below range.we are being issued wind chill warnings over the last several days and into next week.kids will be back to school tuesday with a high of -9. It is only possible to idle my car to warm it up before putting my kids in when i am leaving home, i can't do that when i leave a business. In many areas, it is against the law to idle your car. Without warming up the car, the car seat will be the same as the outside temperature when i put the child in it. It takes a few minutes to get both my children buckled and it only takes a few minutes for children to get frostbite. I doubt any adult would be willing to take off their jacket in this cold for even a few minutes, i don't see how it is ok to do it to children. It is dangerous to not wear winter jackets in the winter for even a few minutes. Car seats do not meet safety standards when winter jackets are worn. Car seat manufacturers need to meet safety standards with winter jackets. A recall to fix this defect is required.

Britax model # 191-22, dom 8/23/99; the tap part of the lock-off clip located on the left side of the seat broke off.manufacturer was called about the problem. A new tab will be sent to the consumer.

Cpsc:i1530420a. Britax boulevard car seat. The manufacturer agreed to send the consumer a new car seat.

Consumer states that the child is able to push down on the red push button and get out of the seat.

The metal bar that controls recline on my britax boulevard 70 fell out when i removed the carseat from my vehicle. It was secured on one side with a plastic cap, but on the other side it was free to fall out. After it fell out the carseat was freely moving from the lowest recline to upright position. If this had happened during an accident my child would have had no support and could have been severely injured. There is a seller on ebay selling two "new" britax car seats. These have visible damage and are obviously not safe to be used in a vehicle. They have been reported, but the seats are still up for auction. The item numbers are 2343698008 and 2343697893. Could you please contact ebay and let them know that these seats are not safe to be used and that these auctions need to be canceled? thank you.

The latch plate on the child seat that holds the adjuster strap in place does not stay tight. Consumer contacted britax several times. Britax claim under warranty they would repair the car seat, but will not replace it. Consumer was very dissatisfied and feels the car seat could still be unsafe for the child. *mr

I purchased a britax boulevard clicktight in june 2015 and began using it.i stopped at a child seat safety check and they informed me that my seat was most likely missing parts or defective.the impact absorbing base was only attached on one side so when you picked the seat up it would fall off halfway.i contacted britax and they immediately sent me a new seat and i sent the old seat back.after receiving the new seat i could see that two metal bolts were missing out of my original seat that held the back end of the base onto the seat.i feel like this is a serious issue that could be affecting other seats.had i not stopped at the car seat check i wouldn't have known the seat was missing parts.i've never bought a car seat like that one so i couldn't have known there was something amiss.i have phtos and videos showing the problem.

Purchased britax pavilion 70-g3 convertible. Model number e9lk32d (which is not an option to choose in the next step). Serial e9lk32d000221. Batch j000035974. Chest clip opens when pulling easily on ends. Ordered a replacement clip, it does the same. No other model britax has a clip that looks like the pavilion clip, or opens as easily as the pavilion clip. I have put a different model clip on my pavilion, as directed by a britax customer service rep (the boulevard clip, which does not easily open). These pavilion seats are brand new on the market (june 2012) and these clips are a very big safety issue. My friends are amazed at how easily my clip will open. My son can easily open this clip himself and he is 11 months old. He cannot open the boulevard or any other model clip.

Britax boulevard clicktight was able to be used rear-facing with neither leg strap connected to its proper metal anchor but without any warning to the caregiver that the straps were not connected - i.e. The parent was able to harness the child "properly" and make the straps snug with nothing to indicate that the straps were completely disconnected at both legs. I had previously helped the parent install this boulevard click tight (ironically this one when taken out of the box did not have the issue others have had where the leg strap is partially detached from its anchor plate) - and the parent had reinstalled it once on his own in the interim and had done a perfect job. Parent has been using the seat and had been able to get the child's harness straps properly snug. Parent came today for help installing an infant seat for a new baby - and we needed to move the rear-facing clicktight to the side seat.when we lifted up the click tight plate to uninstall the seat, we noticed that neither of the leg straps were attached at all to their metal anchor... In fact, both were simply dangling. This would have been catastrophic to their 18 month old in a crash. The parents did not know that the leg straps weren't attached - as when the plate was down there was enough friction that the leg straps, likely due to the location of some double stitching, stayed in place... But this would almost certainly rip in a crash leaving the child unrestrained.

The recall kit for the (britax roundabout car seat) does not work effectively, the kit makes the seat very uncomfortable for the child and causes the harness to dig into the childs neck and chest. *mjs

Car seat with egress issuesname: [xxx]email address: [xxx]phone number: [xxx]physical address: [xxx]product type: car seats model number: pinnacle clicktight car seatserial number: e9lz15q000269batch number:job0010257date of manufacture: 12/20/2014------------------------- comments: on 2/16/2015, i purchased a $400 pinnacle clicktight from a national retailer and have encountered a safety issue that needs to be addressed as soon as possible.considering that this is my fourth britax car-seat purchased since 2011, i am confident that i am familiar with the optimum processes for seating and adjusting the child to the correct and safest position in the seat. Immediately after purchased, installation and initial use, i notice that there is a quality issue with the chest-aligned buckle. When attempting to remove the child from the car-seat, undertaken as normal ? from outside the vehicle, the chest-buckle does not easily ?un-click? and sometimes requires extreme effort to unbuckle the child. Being used to the almost identical chest buckle used in other britax car seats owned, the quality of the fit of the buckle appears to be lower and does not have a seamless fit in the chest connector piece.in an emergency egress, this would be extremely problematic and would likely endanger the safety of the child seated in the pinnacle clicktight. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6) .

This report is for a child safety seat.i was told to use this form.the seat's harness release tab stuck in the open position, allowing my son to be unrestrained.dt

I'm a cps instructor. I've installed 4 of the new britax click tight convertibles thus far, and have encountered an identical problem with 3 out of 4 of the seats.here's the problem: the leg strap has come off from the metal anchor where it attaches to the click tight plate. While it would seem obvious that one would notice this, in one of the instances some of the harness strap got caught between the click tight plate and the side wall of the convertible (after installation) in a way that you might not have noticed that the harness was not properly connected. The first time i saw this issue, the parent had attempted to install the seat on their own and arrived with the seat uninstalled and one of the leg straps was completely detached from the metal anchor. I assumed the parent must have done something in their attempt to remove the seat that had caused the strap to detach - so i showed the parent and we fixed it together and i didn't think much of it.this seat was installed rear-facing.two hours later when another parent brought a brand new seat (we took it out of the box together) i noticed that after i had demonstrated the installation to the parent and was watching the father re-install the seat that the leg strap on one side had detached. Again, we fixed it together. This seat was installed rear-facing.yesterday another parent brought a brand new seat (we took it out of the box together) and after lifting up the click tight plate for the first time i noticed that the leg strap on one side was slipping out of its metal holder - and if given the chance would have certainly slipped off completely like the other 2. We then installed the seat rear-facing and did not encounter further problems during installation.all seats were made sept 2014. Two were boulevard click tights, one was an advocate click tight.

Child safety seat's locking clip does not restrain the seat belt.

Dt: the contact states the lock mechanism would not unlock. The right lap restraint is jammed. Shecut her child out of the seat. There was no prior warning.

The contact owns a britax boulevard 70 (na) child seat, model number e9lb53p (na). The seat was manufactured on february 2, 2012. The contact stated that the lap harness buckle failed to unfasten the clip. The contact had to use a screw driver to release the clips. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The child seat was not replaced. The purchase date was unknown.

Dt*: the contact stated the locks on each side of the child safety seat were not secure. The belt that was threaded through the locks became loose and was free to move around. The seat was britax, model # e9l06-d5.the manufacturer date was 7-13-06.

Consumer states that while driving the child can easily unlock them selves from the child seat and the consumer will have to pull over to strap the child back in. Model#e900230 17-dec-2001. Manufacture notified ts

Yesterday or the day before i buckled my baby in her newbritax blvd70 and one buckle tong popped out after i had just put her in. So i figured user error..even though i thought i heard it click and felt it engage. So i have been extra diligent on making sure its clicked in, well tonight i stayed late at a friends and i put her in, i made sure she was all buckled in straight and harness appropriate like i always do, and i got home and both buckle tongs were out..as in only the chest clip was closed..i know it was buckled before i drove because i am a cpst and very strict on proper harness use..baby was asleep and no way she at 17' months could open it anyway obviously i wont use the seat because i know this was not user error.5/12 date of manufacture, boulevard 70- e9lb53p, batch/j000035729, serial: e9lb53p004681.

Left side of harness system not attached to the splitter plate when unboxed directly from manufacturer. Released harness and pulled straps to loosen for the first time and one strap came off completely. Upon inspection found it was not attached to the splitter plate at all. Modele9lt86a

Britax boulevard clicktight harness strap was found to be disconnected from it's lower anchor point after opening clicktight plate. Parent initially thought seat was broken. Cpsti reconnected harness and advised parent to watch for issue happening again.

The hip strap on my child's britax pioneer car seat came off while driving today. I re-attached the strap by threading the webbing onto the metal loop. Upon inspection of the other hip strap, it did not appear to be properly threaded into the metal loop and instead appeared to be wrapped around the loop. I have not modified or unattached the straps since purchasing the seat (mfg. Date 10/2016) a few months ago. I am concerned that this is a manufacturing problem similar to the recall on similar seat models a few years ago. I did report this to britax customer service via phone.

The harness strap slipped off the anchor hook, and came out from under the clicktight mechanism. Arrived new in box not properly threaded over hook. Britax, boulevard ct us ucs. Model: e9lt86f. Mfg date: 09/29/2014. Batch/lot: job0009422.

The contact owns a britax frontiermodel# e9b54h7 child seat manufacturer 6/2/09. The child was in the seat when the metal yoke became stuck and caused the right harness strap to disengage from the yoke. Child was five years old and stated that felt as though it were coming loose from the metal yoke. The contact requested that the manufacturer diagnose the failure and they refused.

We have a britax pavilion convertible car seat. My daughter was in it front-facing and reacheddown and lifted the button to loosen her harness. We did not immediately notice and pulled over to correct it as soon as we did. She was able to do this two more times in the course of the car trip. I contacted the company to express my concerns, they would not formally document my concern stated that it was because my child is tall, even though she is only 36.5 inches and well within the height and weight restrictions, and then went on to say that the company "cannot account for smart children figuring things out". She told me that i needed to teach my daughter what she is not allowed to touch. When i asked if she was formally documentingredients this, she said no and then reported that she could not give me a claim number because she had several other things to enter in the system before me. To me this is a very serious safety concern, because of my daughter losens herself in the car seat and i'm not aware and god forbid we got into an accident her car seat would not perform as it should since it would be too lose.

Britax boulevard clicktight while seat was installed, harness moved freely without depressing the harness release hutton. The headrest "clicked" into place but the harness was easily pulled out. . i loosened and pulled out all of the harness, extended the headrest fully, then i lowered the headrest to where i needed it (and made sure it clicked) and pulled harness tight and eventually the harness locked properly and i coudlnt pull it out without pressing the release.

I've moved the seat from the vehicle on 3 occasions, each time the harness was unattached from the lower anchor points. When not attached, the harness is floating. It is difficult to see this if the end of the harness becomes hidden under the clicktight seat.

The underarm/chest hasp does not stay closed: it *should* require pinching to release it so it can be opened but does not require pinching and can be pulled out at any time. This was true of our britax roundabout 55, so we returned it to the store and got another (same model), and it's true of the new one also.

The harness is too low to the child's shoulders. The child safety seat owners manual stated that the harness should fit the child near the should area.the contact notified the manufacturer, who stated it had nothing to do with the harnessas long as the child's headwas placed in the seat according to the manual.

While driving, the child unfastened himself from the seat and seat belt was around child's neck.

Dt: the contact states the lock mechanism would not unlock. The right lap restraint is jammed. Shecut her child out of the seat. There was no prior warning.

Ive had the britax frontier g1.1 clicktight harness-2-booster car seat (model number e9ly76a) for 2months, and the protective foam and cover on the left side of the car seat fell off!my child is 4yrs old, and weighs 43lbs.i lift her into and out of the seat, because we have an suv.she only rides in this seat three times a week.i came out to load up the car, and found the foam thats meant to protect my childs head and upper body on the floor!i contacted britax customer service, and the agent didnt seem at all concerned that this car seat seriously malfunctioned.more worrisome, the agent wasnt surprised, which tells me that the protective foam cracking and/or coming unfastened isnt a rare occurrence. I asked the rep if she understood the gravity of the malfunction, and proposed what if the foam popped loose during an actual collision?the force of an airbag exploding, and the impact of a crash pack a much larger punch than a child pulling/pushing on the foam. She just offered to send me replacement foam and a new cover, which apparently helps to hold the foam in place.for a brand that prides themselves on being the gold standard for car seats, and receives such high marks from the iihs (insurance institute for high way safety), its unbelievable that this seat is so poorly designed, that the most important pieces cant withstand a child crawling in/out of a seat!

My one year old gets bored in the car and has enjoyed breaking off the styrofoam in the head restaraint and eating it.she faces backwards, so i cannot always see her breaking off the styrofoam.this is a huge choking hazard.i called britax to make a report.they have offered to send me a new head restraint, with instructions to place duct tape over the foam.this seems to be a design flaw that has caused several other britax recalls.they either need to use a material that does not break apart, or design the cover so that little hands cannot dig in there and break off chunks of foam.

There is a seller on ebay selling two "new" britax car seats. These have visible damage and are obviously not safe to be used in a vehicle. They have been reported, but the seats are still up for auction. The item numbers are 2343698008 and 2343697893. Could you please contact ebay and let them know that these seats are not safe to be used and that these auctions need to be canceled? thank you.

I have been using the britax marathon for my son since dec (when he was 6 months old).from the start, i had problems tightening the straps around him, despite the fact that he is not a squirmer.it has been very frustrating, as i was pretty confident that they were never tight enough for proper protection.i got the seat safety checked at the aaa at the end of feb, and the only "mark down" in the testing of our installation, was that the straps were not tight enough for protection.but, the safety checker herself was unable to get them properly tightened.i have seen on an internet chat board that others are having the same problem, so i feel more confident that this wasn't just user mistake.

This is a complaint regarding a car seat. The britax marathon. Manufactured on 1/08/03. The latch straps are too short. There is evidence that there are some newer marathons with longer straps up 24" where as the strap on mine and several others measures 12". These in my opinion are not long enough to enable a proper install in some vehicles. I spoke with a rep at britax usa and they denied that they have made longer straps. I have seen a picture of two marathons back-to-back and on one, the straps are twice as long.

My britax marathon car seat can not be tightened adequately. It appears some seats were shipped with the adjuster strap threaded incorrectly. Unfortunately, britax will not repair the problem. This is a serious safety issue if children are not adequately strapped in their seats.

The strap that must be pulled to tighten the harness straps on the britax marathon car seat has been routed incorrectly in some of the seats.the incorrectly routed harness straps are extremely difficult to tighten around the child.based on discussions with other marathon owners, it appears that this problem occurred during the first few months after they first began selling this seat.i have two marathons.one manufactured in august 2002 (when they first came out), and one manufactured in january 2003.the newer seat is fine and can be tightened easily.the august seat has the flaw and i no longer use it.when i called britax, they acknowledged that the strap has been threaded two different ways, but said both ways have been tested and are safe.in reality, it is only safe if you are strong enough to pull the straps tight.it also appears to me that the improperly routed strap rubs along a sharp plastic part.

Britax, teutonia, stroller, 10/30/2002, registry# nc801, stroller folds down does not stay locked when child is put in it, happened to my 7 month ol causing her a blackened eye. I contacted a helen at britax she told me there is nothing to be done but file a complaint because they have retired this stroller. I opened this stroller about 6 weeks ago striaght from the box. This is very concerning my child could have been suffocated from this problem with the stroller. When you initially open the stroller it does lock into place and out of the lu it hust unlocks and folds down.

Cpsc: britax carseat: consumer stated safety belt is unable to fasten. *ss
