The harness or chest pad on the restraint failed. The material apparently tore by itself from normal use. I noticed it was damaged when buckling my child in and there is no reason why the material should have torn. I checked with britax earlier online and they said my britax boulevard 70 g-3 carseat was not recalled although the it is the model that was recalled and manufactured during the dates of the recall. I believe they have handled the recall very poorly and this needs to be investigated. They don't even sell replacement parts for this seat online so i am not sure how to even get the seat fixed.

Cpsc: i1540217a: britax boulevard 70: the consumer stated pieces of the plastic "hugs" chest pads broke off on the car seat. It created a sharp edge. *ssthe consumer stated a recall was issued for other for the same model. However, the manufacturer dates were different.serial # e9bj91a031062.

While driving down a street i heard a loud pop and immediately smelled burnt plastic. I heard my son screaming and pulled over. The car seat was bend on its side and blood was coming from his mouth. A piece of plastic broke off and cut his lip, chin and ear. His side was all red and hot and looked like a heat rash. The britax car seat was pinned down and i couldn't move it. The whole base was twisted and bent. I have no idea what happened what happened to the base. It looks like we were in a wreck. It's the britax boulevard 70 series. They offered to send us a new car seat but needed my credit card number? it's forward facing and has a back strap and 2 metal hooks that attach to the car. I have never in my life seen a car seat do this. It's mangled. My son was scared and suffered minor injuries but had another child been in the car they would have been pinned down and injured bad.

Child was ill in seat. I removed the seat cover gently and found one side of the foam head restraint was detached from seat. This seat has been very lightly used, and the breakage could not be seen until the cover was removed.

Cpsc: i1530241a. Britax car seat. Consumer stated the metal anchor that hold the straps at the bottom of the car seat became un-sewn. *ln serial # e9bj91a033114.

This complaint is regarding the hugs pad on a britax boulevard 70 g-3 convertible carseat manufactured in may 2013.i purchased this car seat in june 2013, but did not remove it from the box or install it until october 2013. I installed it with the assistance of a certified car seat technician.after 9 days of use, i discovered that the top tab of the right hugs pad was cracked on the side touching my child. I first noticed the crack when it was approximately half the thickness of the rubber pad. It subsequently deteriorated to the point where i realized my child might be able to snap the piece off, at which point it would present a choking hazard. I have kept these pieces as a reference.i contacted britax and they immediately shipped me new hugs pads at no fee. They also suggested that i only use the hugs pads in the forward-facing position. They are apparently optional for rear-facing use.however, i am very concerned for the following reasons:1. This defect sounds very similar to the defect in the hugs pads that caused a recent recall. However, my seat was manufactured after the recall. This suggests that the problem has not been fixed.2. I will need to use the hugs pads once my child moves to the forward position. Therefore, i need to be confident that these pads will not break in the future, when that would compromise my child's safety.3. When i asked the britax customer service representative whether this is a common problem she said that it had been known to happen if children play with or bite the tabs. She put me on a list for a new, stiffer version (not yet available), suggesting they know there is a problem but have not notified the public. Also, the manual instructs the adult to adjust the hugs pads as part of proper seat belt fastening. I can't figure out how to do this without touching the fragile tabs and the customer service agent couldn't offer any suggestions. Therefore, i think this problem is likely to reoccur under routine usage.

The chest harness buckle opens easily when it is pulled apart manually. My 24 month old son is able to open it. This buckle/clasp should not be pulled apart manually, the buckle should be unfastened only when the top and bottom buttons are pressed to open and unfastened the chest buckle. In case of an accident, the pressure of my child's chest on this buckle would unfastened it and he would come out of the seat.

My daughter got sick in her britax boulevard car seat, when i removed the fabric to wash it i realized there was a manufacturers defect and one side of the seat was missing the foam that surrounds the molded plastic seat which is supposed to cushion the blow upon impact in an accident. I contacted britax and explained the situation, also explaining that i own 4 of the same seats and they wanted to send me out a replacement part. I explained that i was not comfortable installing any part myself and since the seat was less than a year old they should stand behind the product and offer a replacement. They said they will not send a replacement and all they can do is ship me out a replacement part. I told them my concern that there be other people out there with the same problem with their car seats and would never know unless they remove the fabric covering for some reason which was a massive cause concern. It is potentially endangering children and they should look into this further and stand behind their products.

Cpsc:upon removing car seat from one vehicle for installation into another vehicle, it was discovered that the harness strap on the lower right side of the car seat was significantly frayed near the attachment point to the base/seat shell.updated 06/28/2017

I have a britax boulevard 70-g3 convertible car seat from 2013. My 2.5 year old child has learned by observation how to release the 5-point harness. The release lever is located between her legs, within reach of her hands even when the straps are fully tightened. She can slide her little fingers in, and with a light touch press the lever, lean forward, completely loosening the harness straps. This easy action by a curious toddler renders the seat completely unsafe for any driving situation, and at the same time is impossible to control as an adult driving the car. I have contacted britax about this issue, and their position is that the seat is not unsafe, and they refuse to replace our seat with one of their newer seats with a newly designed release mechanism (all of their newest seats have a new push-button design). I believe the design of this seat is unsafe for children, and that the seat should be recalled because of the harness release. Thank you for reviewing this information, and for being an entity to protect consumers.

Britax boulevard 70 -i have had this car seat for two and a half years and understand that it is outside of the warranty.however i have discovered that there is a crack in the outer shell.i have attached a picture showing the crack in the seat.this car seat has never been in any kind of accident or had any damage sustained to it in any way.while talking to your customer service representatives aaron and tracy i was informed that i could have it replaced by paying $125.this is not something that make sense because i would not want to put my child in a seat that can be cracked from the installation process, how would it be able to sustain a car accident?in my opinion and the opinion of many other parents this is extremely concerning and worrisome.while expressing these concerns to tracy, she interrupt me and then continued to talk over me.this is very unprofessional and is not a quality management should have.she told me that manufacturers defects usually occur within the first year, but i can tell you that something was defective about this seat and usually is not all the time.if this would have been handled professionally and with tact i would not be upset.you well know that your seats are on the higher price point and your customers expect them to last without problems.i will not be buying another car seat from britax and i will be sharing this experience with others.i would not put my child in a seat that does not have the manufacturing companies support and one that does not have the best interest of their customers in mind.
