Cpsc;britax advocate click tight convertable car seat.the shoulder strap release button can be pressed by the child if the child has a long slender toy.updated 06/28/2017

I have a britax advocate clicktight. The straps tighten unevenly, it doesn't always "click" when tight and many times i hear a random click once i've started driving.

My britax advocate clicktight has two problems.first, the "clicktight" mechanism is not working.the seat is designed to give an "audible" click to help indicate that the straps are tight around the child.mine has stopped clicking, and the company has not given me a straight answer as to whether the click failure could indicate whether there is something wrong with the straps (or just an inconvenience of not hearing the click).based on my call with customer service, the click failure appears to be a known issue for rear-facing installations.second, the harness straps on my seat are incredibly uneven, leaving the strap on one side of my child much too loose.i am concerned that the strap would not hold my child in an accident.the company did offer a technique to help fix this issue, but i had to speak with 2 customer service representatives to get help on this issue. The fix is complex and may not be easily implemented by all consumers.since the strap became this loose during operations, i am also concerned that the forces of an accident would cause the same problem, even with the company's fix (which involves looping one side around the yoke in a different way).please note that this strap issue is different than the issue that britax has already fixed with the metal bracket redesign.

We have a britax blvd clicktight which is installed in my toyota siennarear facing.we move the seat from car to car but it had been in my car for several weeks and installed.we went to go away for the weekend and the seat slid across the captains chair.we stopped and i reinstalled at that time i noted the clicktigjt was harder to latch than normal.a week later the same thing happened again with it popping open even though it had been closed amd the clicktight dial was loose and would no longer click.britax advised they would replace the seat per judy and the next day i was told they were offering a g4 blvd instead.we are no longer using the seat but it won't click in tightly.my son does not eat in the seat nor have juice.the buckle is clear it's the clicktight mechanism that won't stay latched

Harness loosening on it's own, click tight panel not closing, child's feet getting stuck under the anti-rebound bar. All incredibly dangerous. They are ignoring the issue!!

My 2 year old daughters britax advocate with click tight and click safe convertible carseat harnessdoes not stay tight . This was brought to my attention while driving down the interstate when she leaned forward and began climbing out of the seat. I pulled off at the nearest exit and checked the seat. Several times i pulled the harness adjuster strap tight until it clicked to indicate that it was tight against her chest, but the harness would not lock in.i had her lean forward and the harness straps and the harness was not able to 'lock' into place. I checked that there was no debris in or around the red harness adjuster button and there was not. Eventually the harness locked into place. I repeated to test the harness but tightening and loosen it and it would continue to malfunction sporadically. I thankfully was with in waling distance to a target and was able to purchase a brand new carseat to safely get my child home in. The company has offered to replace the seat and i am awaiting a call back from a britax supervisor. Side note: published my story on social media and have had several responses from parents of children whose' 'click & safe' seats have had the same issue.

1)this was recalled to fix a red button that is supposed to allow you to release the straps (the 2015 model had a previous bulletin where some models built earlier in the year came without the straps properly attached to the actual seat). The fix never arrived. I got it the 2nd time i applied for it--a packet of grease.now i have a greasy button that still does not function properly because it bobbles around and sand gets stuck to it(yes, i removed excess). 2) the straps are always uneven (probably related to #1 and the non-fix but the issue must run deeper). I can't get them to the point where they are even, so one shoulder is always loose, the other too tight.i have called britax on 3-4 occasions and when i actually get a human, they deny this is a design issue and give me all sorts of steps to go through. The problems remain. I never fail to get pushback as if i must be doing something wrong when i call back to point out the problem still exists. 3)this barely fits my son at 21 months.there are false promises of this seat being appropriate to the lengths/weights provided.i have asked britax about this issue and am met with denial (when i actually get a human). A car seat inspector told me she approached britax at a convention (when it was in chicago, i believe) about this issue of making seats too small for the children for whom they claim they are made. 4) there is now a confusing recommendation about not tethering the advocate clicktight to the floor in rear-facing. Some of their documents state not to use it, some say it is still ok. When i have called and provided my seat's # to get the final answer, the woman was very, very unsure. She implied that she thought it would be ok. I doubt that is the response the britax legal team wants customer service to give out. Nhtsa please note: the advocate clicktight is listed twice in the drop-down menu, so the complaints are split and consumers may miss the recall noted on only one.

I buckled my son into his car seat this past week and noticed that the chest clip didn't click shut. When i pulled, the clip opened easily. I attempted to click it shut several more times without success. The clip appears to no longer lock shut, making it possible to easily pull it open. I contacted britax today and they are sending a replacement chest clip. We have stopped using the car seat until the replacement arrives. Updated 10/10/18 *dt

Britax advocate clicktight. The straps will not tighen enough to safely hold an infant/toddler in the smaller end of the range listed for the car seat. It is impossible to tighten them enough to safely hold these smaller children.

Britax advocate click tight car seat. My child was found in the seat with the restraint straps loose. Britax sent a repair kit for a previous recall. I completed the kit and it happened again. After i contacted them they sent a replacement seat. Yet again with the new seat it happened again. I sent the seat back and i am awaiting a refund. My child was in the seat with the harness tight. After a short trip the harness became loose.

Today while driving my child was able to loosen his harness after i had installed it tightly. After pulling over, i pulled it tight again and was able to pull it loose without pushing the button usually needed to loosen it. I was able to do this several times. I pulled him out and messed around withy the seat. When it stopped pulling loose i put him back in and tries a few more times, it was staying tight. So i figured i fixed what ever the issue was. I then got back in the car to continue to our destination only to look back and see that he had pulled it loose again. Once again i got out and was able to just pull it loose after tightening it without pushing the button.i once again pulled him out and messed around with the seat some more until it stopped doing it. Luckily it did and we went on our way and it hasn't done it again. Not sure what the malfunction on it could have been. I have contacted britax and they are sending me a new seat!prior to this happening, i had just recently removed the cover and cleaned the seat, but didn't mess with the straps at all. So not sure if that had a effect on this happening.

The contact owns a britax advocate click tight child restraint seat, model number: e9lt95q. The seat was manufactured on march 25, 2015. The contact stated that the shoulder harness straps were improperly installed at the splitter plate by the manufacturer. The contact stated that the harness straps became too loose on one side and caused the other side to be excessively tight. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The purchase date was unknown.

I recently bought a britax advocate click tight, we used it once before we started to have issues with the harness getting tight enough to pass the pinch test. I would pull on the harness, and it would "click" but it was not tight enough, if she wanted to, she could have climbed out of the seat. The harness would not allow me to pull it tighter, since it had done the "click" that britax says means the seat is tight enough.i called britax, and they informed me that when this happens, i should uninstall and then reinstall the seat. If this is a known issue, and the "click" tells many parents the harness is tight enough, then the seat is faulty. And many parents may not think to do the pinch test, since the manual says the "click" means it is tight enough.

Britax advocate clicktight tightening straps continue to loosen after implementation of recall.

Britax boulevard clicktight, manufactured april 2015. Harness straps uneven. Every time it is loosened and tightened the straps are uneven. Attempted to readjust and figure out the issue with the manual and still could not get the harness straps to stay even. Contacted britax and a representative talked me through readjusting the harness on the splitter plate (as done prior to the call), they also had me undo the straps in the front of the seat where they are wrapped around the bar and attached to the hook so that it was at full extension (this did not make a difference). It seems the splitter plate is coming through too far into where the straps are coming through, making one harness longer than the other and causing the harness' to not be even on my child's shoulders. In order to have them tight when even, one strap has to be digging into one shoulder when the other is loose. Britax offered to replace the seat but has yet to send me a new one so i am unsure if this will solve the issue or if the new seat will have the same problem.

Cpsc: we purchased the britax anti-rebound bar for our son's britax advocate clicktight convertiblecar seat. The website states 'the anti-rebound bar accessory attaches to the front of the britaxclicktight convertible car seats for rear-facing installations to limit the amount of reboundmovement experienced in frontal-impact crash.' our son's foot got stuck between the anti-rebound bar and the seat of the car while in transit. *dtno vin number updated 10/9/18

Cpsc: purchased a britax advocate clicktight convertible car seat, i removed the seat cover to clean it, and discovered that the foam insulation and the plastic frame were held together loosely by a piece of tape. The tape was not properly secured so that when i removed the cover, it remove the tape from the plastic frame, and then wrapped around the foam. The consumer stated the manufacturer and seller were contacted. They did not offer any assistance. Updated 07/25/2017

Cpsc: britax advocate click tight is designed poorly. The release button is easily accessible to a toddler.there is no guarantee that a toddler will not continually play with buttons once found even ifbehavior modifications were put in place. *dt
