Dt*: the contact stated the harness release buttonis accessible to the child.when the button is pressed, the straps release and the child becomes unsecured.the manufacturer indicated they had received similar complaints, but there was currently no recall or remedy available.the child seat is a britax marathon, the model number and date of manufacturer were unknown by the contact.

My 17 month old infant was thrown from her britax infant car seat after unhooking the restriant herself. This was the third time she had unhooked the seat without assistance. The britax infant restraint was properly installed and i had checked to be sure it was tightly secured. Inquiries at area retailers and speaking with britax indicate that it is not uncommon for young toddlers to learn how to open these restraints. It is a severe design defect in an infant restraint system that may lead to death or grievous bodily harm for infants and toddlers.

Britaxmodel # 161, dom 4/98; seatbelt lock off clip located on the right and left side of the css, holds the css in place.the clip wasstripped off, causing the css tomove side to side.the seatbelt lockoff clip broke3 times.please provide further information.

Replacement was installed per instructions but child is easily able to unbuckle the replacement buckle.nlm

Two year old child is able to unbuckle the compoundbuckle of the car seat. If the child would slide down in the car seat, the child wouldbe choked by the chest clip. Manufacturer was notified about the problem. Parent was told to teach child not to unbuckle the car seat.

The buckle on the car seat will not stay together. Has not talked to manufacturer.

The buckle can be opened by lifting up on the push button, the consumer feels the safety seat is unsafe for use. (britax freeway 101-93 manufactured 26-aug-1998).nlm

1 1/2 year old is able to open the buckle himself, replace buckle four times on the css.

Britax freeway model # 101 e-900023 and e-9000231181, dom 01-feb-2000;buckle between the crotch could be easily beopened by child.please provide more information.

Consumer received recall notice apr./97 for the buckle of css. Consumer's manufacturing date does not match recall model numbers.recall was for seats manufactured june / 96. Consumer's seat was manufactured may / 97, and she says that she had no problems with the original buckle, but because she received a retrofit kit she changed buckles. She now has more problems than ever. Seat sometimes does not lock, the machanism can be pulled on slightly and the belts are released.

Consumer's two-year old child was able to unlock the mechanism on the harness straps that hold the child in.manufacturer has been contacted.

Britax roundabout car seat.our 20 month old son can easily unbuckle the restraints, thus rendering the seat useless and unsafe.the release buckle should be out of reach of the child, e.g., on front of seat between and behind child's feet/lower legs.of note, on britax's own website, their #1 "faq" specifically involves this problem and their suggestion is "parental discipline".with a 20 month old, that's not possible and we are replacing the seat with another manufacturer's seat that has a harder to reach release buckle.

Recall compliant seat belt buckle mailed at bulk rate, resulting in child seat not being upgraded in a timely manner.

Britax roundabout model 161 aug 1998. Child is able to push red release button and get out of css, causing loss of protection .

When ever trying to latch harness to child seat, it fails to remain locked. Real easy to release. Had trouble locking before. Now can not lock at all.model #101dom 11/97. Mjs

Adjuster button that adjusts the shoulder straps when pushed inpopped out on one side of the clamp of the button, button is inoperable, manufacturer not aware of the problem.

The seat has a mechanism that works like a locking clip thats continueously fails, and lets the seatbelt loose from the seat.

The consumer has been experiencing problems withbritax model # 311-03,dom 6/6/97. Css shield fits very tightly into child's stomach, makingit hard for the child to breath.in addition, it causes indentation in the child's skin.the manufacturer has been contacted.

Britax model # 10106s, dom 04/03/98; screws (security purposes) on the red safety harness latch of the css had fallen off, causing the css to not be secure properly.

The child safety seat harness buckle malfunctioned.it either unfastened after being buckle, or would not buckle in place.

Britax model # 10101014, dom 10/18/96; recall # 97e012000, consumer has not received kit which was ordered over (3) months ago. Kit was ordered in may of 97.
