We are child restrain installers. We have found a problem with the baby trend flex lock infant carseat. The adjustable base when installed firmly using seat belts will collapse from the highest height position. We have found this true on all seats we have tried. We have demonstrated to their sales representative and discussed it with the company. The consumer stated when pressure is placed on the front of the base, the base can collapse. Updated 10/03/07

My baby trend latch-loc infant car seat base broke unexpectedly in less than 3 months of use. One of the latches that the car seat "clicks" onto completely broke so i was unable to get car seat to go securely into the base. I went directly to babies r us for new base and it took 3 people to get car seat out of the base. They replaced my original base but said they would not report this. I was lucky it broke during store hours and was scared the whole drive to the store with my newborn son.

Baby`s headis at risk plus the car seat plastic will crack from the repeated hitting. Also, high risk of parents miss using product due to defective handle. The handle on my baby trends care seat sticks and either wont go down or we cant get it back up. You have to keep messing with it to finally get it back up or down!! i have only used this care seat for about three months and purchased it brand new. When the handle is stuck in the down position it does not fit on the base properly or on my van seat properly due the the amount of room between the handle and the seat in front of it!!! also if it gets stuck up when you try to get you infant in and out of the seat it is very very hard you practically have to make your child do a back bend to get him or her out!!! please note.... I later returned to this section to let you know that the seat i have is the flex loc model number 3625 and manufactured on 02/04/07 this was not an option on the child restraint page!!!

After taking the child out of the child seat-stroller combination, it suddenly collapsed. The cause of why this happened was undetermined.

The angle indicator on the side of the baby trend latch-lock infant seat is misleading. When you look at the indicator directions it shows correct with and orange dot next to correct, when you look at the seat after installed the indicator showing orange as implied by the directions provided by the manufacturer, the seat is far from the proper recline angle for an infant. As an experience / certified child passenger safety professional i made this mistake what will the consumer do?

The defect is to the baby trend flex loc base flexible attachment system.there are two metal screws that hold a metal plate to the front plastic cover of the mechanisms that tightens or loosens the strap that holds the base to the car latch.these screws, while still attached to the plastic cover, allowed the metal plate to separate from the plastic cover.the spring that creates the tension preventing the strap from loosening fell out resulting in the strap loosening without having to press the red button which caused the base with the car seat attached to loosen.
