I'm a carseat technician and was checking a seat for a expectant parent. The parent had a baby trend secure model # cs61529 dom 8/1/16. During our education and install process we discovered when opening the built in lock off that it came apart. When you open the release lever the springs popped out and the whole lever came off the seat. We installed the seat with latch and the parent was going to return the seat to the store and get a new one.
The contact owns a baby trend expedition elx travel system (na) child seat, model number: cj93412 (na). The seat was manufactured on july 6, 2012. While attempting to unlatch the harness, the harness retainer clip fractured and caused the safety seat to be unusable. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The purchase date was unknown.
